Read my story below about my first ride of the season and think about the strategy you use when a task is difficult. Write an article on your blog about:

The searing heat in my legs threatens to thwart my intentions! The flames lick their way to my lungs until I feel like I can't breathe! The pounding rhythm of my heart beats like a foreboding drum announcing my defeat until it is the only sound I hear! Boom, BOom, BOOm, BOOM! In answer, the sweat trickles down my skin, into my eyes and blurs my vision. Always the drum beats louder and louder until it feels hopeless to continue because every time I look to the crest of the hill, I can't see any progress.
When I feel like success is too far from my grasp a quiet voice inside me responds;
Way to go Monica! You are out here exercising on this beautiful summer day! Awesome job!
The voice is answered by the beating of the drum, BOOM, BOOM, Boom, as if to say; it is too hard, you can't do it!
My little voice responds in kind, there's a spectacular blue sky above you, it's the perfect day to ride! You're so lucky to be in such a beautiful place. Just keep pedaling! You can do this!
BOOOM! BOOOOOOM! BOOOOOOOOOM!
Even though it might not feel like it, every turn of the pedal is getting you closer to the top, don't give up, you're nearly there!
Booom! BOOoom! Boom~
The more I tell myself positive things, the more my resolve to succeed, until suddenly I find myself at the top of the hill, my breath has evened out, my heart has slowed down and there is the sweet taste of success in my mouth!
Speaking positively to my inner self is one way that helps me be successful when something is really hard.

It’s challenging for me when it comes to multiplying nines. I learned a strategy from school that helps me a lot! So it's when you hold up all ten fingers. Say it's nine times four; you would start from your right hand and put down the fourth finger. Then, you have your answer! The three fingers on your right hand that are separated from the others are the tens. The rest is the ones that you add for the sum. Therefore, the answer to nine times four is thirty-six.
