I read a biography about Theodore Roosevelt in class. This is what I learned.
Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 at 20th street at New York City. He was always very energetic and loved nature and loved to go outside. His family had health problems but his were the worst. When he couldn’t Breath his father would take him for a fast carriage ride because he found that it filled Teedie’s (Teedie was his childhood nickname) lungs with air and helped him breath. When Teedie was 2, a terrible started- it was the Civil War. Teedie’s mother Mittie was a Southerner, and his dad Teddy sr. was a northerner. That was a big problem between his parents because his mom’s brothers were fighting for the south, and his dad believed in the north and knew it would be hurtful to Mittie if he fought for the north. So he did not go to war. Teedie felt bad for his dad and vowed to go to war himself once he grew up.
Even though Teedie lived in the city he loved to look for unusual bugs and other animals. He was interested about everything about animals. He sometimes cut apart dead animals and studied their insides. When he was 14, he went to Harvard University and was very strong. Nowadays people started calling him Teddy.
Teddy could read speedy fast and had an astonishing memory! Teddy wanted to become a scientist. During his 2nd year in school, his dad died. But when he met a girl named Alice, but she did not want him to be a scientist. So Teddy entered politics! Then, on February 14, His wife and mother died.
On March 4, 1901, Teddy won the election for state governor. On September 6, President McKinley was shot and Teddy became President.
