Geomandatry; A Geometry Blog by Amanda

This blog is for Miss Jovanovich's algebra and geometry classes to share ideas, ask questions, and reflect on what skills and topics we are studying. If we are lucky, we might even get a chance to connect with other students studying the same stuff.

Special Right Triangles Hi Everyone!
Last week in Geometry we worked with 30,60, and 90 degree right triangles and 45, 45, 90 degree right triangles. Along with them came a ton of new rules to follow and theorems to remember and at first it was extremely intimidating. But never fear, hints and shortcuts are here! First for 30, 60, 90;

Rule #1 : The short leg is always half the hypotenuse.
Shortcut: I don't have one just because it's probably the easiest to remember.

Rule #2: The long leg is short leg times the square root of three.
Shortcut: Remember, 30 degrees. Root Three. 3 and 3. Tada!

Now for 45, 45, 90;

Rule #1: The hypotenuse is Leg times the root of 2.
Shortcut: This is easy to remember because two legs have to be the same. Two. Root Two.

Rule #2: The leg is the hypotenuse over the root of 2.
Shortcut: It's the same thing as rule #1. If you remember that, you're all set!

I hope those hints/shortcuts help! Talk to you all next week!
