Emma's Extravagant Blog This blog is for Miss Jovanovich's algebra and geometry classes to share ideas, ask questions, and reflect on what skills and topics we are studying. If we are lucky, we might even get a chance to connect with other students studying the same stuff.

Article posted June 11, 2012 at 12:04 AM GMT • comment • Reads 195 It seems like just yesterday that we were beginning our weekly blogs, and now we are writing our last ones. This is the week of finals, and after this week, we only have one day left of school. I cannot believe that school went by this fast. I would have to say that this school year was filled with learning, and fun! On another note, we still must remain serious. We still have our final exam on Monday, and that requires a gracious amount of studying. To study for the exam, I have come up with a few review guides that will help me go over anything that I have been struggling with. One thing that I have had a bit of trouble with is vectors. Therefore, I picked out a problem about vectors from my book and worked out the answer to it. The problem was "describe each vector as an ordered pair". To do so, you had to first figure out the sine ratio as well as the cosine ratio. Then, you would order them so that they describe the vector. It took some practice to understand, but eventually, I got it! I now feel prepared for this final exam! Article posted June 11, 2012 at 12:04 AM GMT • comment • Reads 195
Article posted May 24, 2012 at 02:22 AM GMT • comment • Reads 36 WOW! This year has flown by us. I can't believe that we have less than three weeks of school left! This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend, which is the mark of the beginning of the summer season. This weekend, I am headed to Lancaster, Pennsylvania for a soccer tournament. I am very excited, but sad at the same time because this is one of our last tournaments of this year. It is always sad when a season that you have enjoyed ends. On a separate note, we have started our trigonometry unit in class. This unit deals with sines, cosines, and tangents. Sine is opposite/hypotenuse, cosine is adjacent/hypotenuse, and tangent is opposite/adjacent. This may seem hard to remember, however there is an easier way; just think of SOH CAH TOA. This is an abbreviation for remembering these forumlas. Personally, I find this very helpful. It can sometimes be hard for me to remember formulas, so putting then into an abbreviation kind of format, it can be easier to remember. How do you remember things when you are studying?
