Equation
Y*2+5*Y=3+4(Y+3)
Simplifying
Y * 2 + 5Y = 3 + 4(Y + 3)
Reorder the terms for easier multiplication:
2Y + 5Y = 3 + 4(Y + 3)
Combine like terms: 2Y + 5Y = 7Y
7Y = 3 + 4(Y + 3)
Reorder the terms:
7Y = 3 + 4(3 + Y)
7Y = 3 + (3 * 4 + Y * 4)
7Y = 3 + (12 + 4Y)
Combine like terms: 3 + 12 = 15
7Y = 15 + 4Y
Solving
7Y = 15 + 4Y
Move all terms containing Y to the left, all other terms to the right.
Add '-4Y' to each side of the equation.
7Y + -4Y = 15 + 4Y + -4Y
Combine like terms: 7Y + -4Y = 3Y
3Y = 15 + 4Y + -4Y
Combine like terms: 4Y + -4Y = 0
3Y = 15 + 0
3Y = 15
Divide each side by '3'.
Y = 5
Simplifying
Y = 5
