Our classroom was lucky enough to receive some frog eggs (NOT collected by the teacher!!!). We have done lots of research to become tadpole experts and have watched our eggs turn into fat tadpoles, starting to get legs. We are excited to see them become frogs... kind of. We'll need a lid on the container! We decided to share the information we have collected in a book!

For sharing!
December in our classroom has focused on sharing what we have with others... after all, we are SO fortunate!
This month we brought toys and food to share with those less fortunate, supported the building of a school in Haiti by buying a Christmas light for a loony, and Candygrams for our friends. Last week, we worked with a couple different grades to bake and decorate cookies to share with others. While we didn't have enough cookies to share with everyone in the school, we did share with a variety of classes, as well as other people we found around the school! At the end of the day, the students were so excited to speak of sharing their cookies with others! Thank you to the Grade 9 and 10 classes who helped us!
And may everyone reading this blog, from Porcupine Plain and beyond, really realize how fortunate you are this holiday season, and find a way to share your love and wealth with others!

We explored spatial relationships by looking at maps, atlases and globes, sharing personal travel stories, creating town, using a map of the new school to explore and learning left from right. Here are some of the highlights!

And a little plug for the newest business in town! ;)
As most of you know, this is a very importnant member of our classroom, Mr. Wrinkles. Students take turns taking Mr. Wrinkles, his journal and his favorite story book home each day. As a class, we love reading about Mr. Wrinkles' adventures!
This past weekend Mr. Wrinkles worked at the new store in Porcupine - Heavonly Boutique. According to his journal, Mr. Wrinkles used his weekends' wages to buy a new sweater!

Kindergarten students have been exploring the four seasons we experience here in Saskatchewan. While we understand life here, we also attempted to look at life in other parts of the world. How does where some kids live affect their life? What they can do? And what kind of houses they live in? Students were then encouraged to use any materials around the classroom to become construction workers and build a variety of houses. Before beginning, we discussed the importance of a house being a safe place for people to stay to protect themselves and their belongings from the "elements". The students worked so well together as little construction workers on their house building projects!
