This I Believe
I believe that sports can make people happy. From the ages three to twelve, I had a dog named Buster. I would play games with him when I was little and talk to him when I had nothing to say to anybody else. My dog was loyal, adorable and comforting. If I was sick, he’d jump on my lap and make me feel better. Last year, Buster was getting sick. He had other issues along the years including arthritis, but he always remained his peppy self. Not this time. Buster would go outside and sleep and he never did that when he was by himself. The first day of summer came around and my mom came in my room with bad news. She didn’t even have to say anything. I knew it was over. I knew Buster had passed away that night while I was asleep. I sat in my bed that morning sobbing, not knowing what to do next. I happened to have my soccer tournament that day. It was a father’s day tournament that would last over two days. My mom came back in that morning and told me I didn’t have to do the tournament, that she would email my coach and tell him I couldn’t play. I couldn’t do that though. I wasn’t going t sit around all day and cry. Plus, Buster loved coming to my soccer games. So I got up, got ready and we drove to the tournament. Apparently news leaked about Buster and everyone was being nice to me. Niceness wasn’t going to fill the emptiness I was feeling. But I sucked it up and got ready to play, for my team. I couldn’t just let my team down by being depressed so I carried on like nothing was wrong... when it was. We had three games in the tournament, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. Before the game started I grabbed one of my closest friends, Kailin, and whispered in her ear, “For Buster”. She nodded her head and got on the field in her regular defense position. I got up to my forward position and the whistle blew signaling the game to begin. We ended up losing that game and our other two games as well. We didn’t play poorly though, and we always made a comeback in the second half. At the end of the tournament, Coach Froberg was announcing the MVP of the tournament. I knew I played my best, but wasn’t expecting the award. Coach then told the team and parents that the MVP was Emma MacIntyre. I was surprised and very excited. I then got the game ball and my friends Annabel and Kailin came over and told me they voted for me. I knew Buster was watching me at that moment, wagging his tail like usual. Even in extremely tough times, I rely on sports to take me to a better place. Sports can make people happy. This I believe.

I am thankful for so many things. I am thankful for having a healthy family. We have had some health issues going around in my family and I am certanily ecstatic that for now, everyone is healthy and that is something I would trade anything for. This si the same for my friends. I love my friends and am thankful that I can be myseld with them without having to be someone I'm not. I'm thankful for all the help going to New Jersey and New York (states hard hit by Hurrican Sandy). I am thankful that we can afford heat and water at both my school and my house. My school provides alot forus students and I appreciate all of it. I am thankful that my spirits stay high evern when I'm not feeling the best because of all the people who make me laugh. MOst of all I am thankful that I have things to smile about! :)

Over the summer my dog passed away :( RIP Buster!! But Buster gave me the gift of Lacey, my springer spaniel puppy! Lacey Roo will be sixth months old on October 30. My family got her in July and ever since have really enjoyed having a wild puppy around. She loves to play with ANY DOG she meets! Buster was calm and collected but now Lacey is young and wild so this is a very different experience. Here is a picture of Lacey wih my sister's bow on her head!

Year in Review

My most memorable lesson of this year would have to be the cyber bullying videos. Even though they were extremley sad and upsetting, they got to the point and let us know what was going on! This was hard to take in, but it helped me realize what really goes on the computer! I guess I would want to keep my blog page because it is cool to saty in touch with people from different places! I had fun with it, but I don't know if I'll go on as much as I did this year. I don't think I would go on the book lounge very often, but if I was looking for good book reviews I might! Thanks to everyone who made this year awesome! Have a great summer and RELAX!!!!
For the last time this year,

My friend and I are now the proud parents of Peaches, our new chick! Peaches hatched early this morning. I'm not positive about which one she/he is, but it is black. I don't know which she/he is because the colored dot that identifies the chicks, is on the stomach (which I can't see yet). Peaches is a dominique chicken. She/he is adorable and I can't wait to hold little Peaches!

To answer the first question, I would be willing to give away my music for free. I think that true music shouldn't cost money. It should be able to be heard from anyone who wants to listen. On the other hand, people have to get paid. Making music may not just be their job, but it is their life. When people can't make money off of what they are working on, it doesn't make much sense. Musicians spend so many hours working away to make us, their listeners, good music. When they don't get much credit... it just doesn't make sense. So for this first question, I don't know which side I'm on.
I do think that music, photographs, stories, etc. found on the internet are public property. If you are willing to put your personal or work information on the internet, you have to understand that there are some people who will steal your material. The internet has it's many pros and cons, and I think people don't realize the cons or the risk their taking when putting their information online. I personally wouldn't download free music, but I know for a fact that some people wouldn't think twice when hearing "free music".
I think there is a relationship between plagrism and downloading free music. Both take advantage of the artist and don't make them any money. But the two terms are found used in very different situations. For example, maybe a singer/songwriter wannabe wants to be famous and pretends to sing someone else's song. Or, there is the person who thinks their getting a fantastic deal by downloading free music.
I don't really think downloading free music is okay, but in these times some people will jump at the opportunity. I don't know how this issue will pan out in the end. I'm interested to find out.

I guess my favorite type of food would be mexican. If I could eat any type of food for the rest of my life though, I would eat fruit or salad. I LOVE fruit and I LOVE salad! Hey... maybe I would eat fruit salad for the rest of my life! That suddenly makes sense! :)
