Hello incoming doublers, next year you have quite the challege ahead of you. Taking two math courses in one year isn't easy, but it is doable. The reason you're doubling in the first place is because someone thought you could handle it. Don't assume that you're now a sophomore taking an honors junior class, that you don't have to put any effort into the sophomore geometry class. Because you do! The school will notice if you're struggling in geometry and will make you drop algebra, even if your doing well in algebra. So don't put geometry on the back burner! Also you're probably going to be put in a class with the smartest freshman. Trust me, being in a freshman class as a sophomore is not something everyone wants to do. I get it, freshman can be immature and loud. But don't let them distract you from the material. You're there to learn not to show them up because you're older. Lastly, stay organized! The last thing you want to do is mix up the two math classes. Even though they are very different.
Have a great summer everyone, stay classy :)

Hello everyone! Thankfully we have had a nice break from all this rain! It seems to me that every day we have a lacrosse game, it rains... We played Greely in our first playoff game on Wednesday. We lost 10-12 :( It was a great season though.
Sin=opp./hyp.
Cos=adj./hyp.
Tan=opp./adj.
SOH CAH TOA stands for the above. This is used in non-right triangles to find a missing side/angle. I find this to be very useful in geometry because a good percentage of the time we are not working with right triangles.

Hello, how was everyones Memorial Day weekend? Mine was great! My brother came home for the weekend with his new fiancé. Monday they set out across country to Everett, Washington where my brother is stationed in the Navy. It seems just last year he graduated from YHS, and now he's starting his life as an adult.
This week in geometry we reviewed the law of cosines and the law of sine. I find these laws to be not so challenging because they are formulas where you can just sub in the numbers and get your missing angle or side. You must need three sides or two sides and a angle of a triangle for these to work.

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We have finally had one weekend of full shineshine and warm weather. It was a perfect weekend for prom! This past week in geometry we took a test on Friday, and learned more about areas in quadrilaterals. My favorite one is the rhombus or kite area formula. A=(1/2d1d2) it's easy to do and remember, plus it has to do with diagonals which is found in no other formula for a quadrilateral. Which makes it special :)

Happy Mothers Day everyone!! I hope all your mothers had a wonderful day :) I spent mothers day going to my brothers girlfriends graduation at Norwich University. She got her masters degree in architecture. We also went for a short hike and visited the Ben and Jerrys ice cream factory. Overall it was a pretty good day! This past week in geometry we learned about finding areas in polygons/triangles. We used two formulas. Before our test this week I'm going to have to go back over my homework and state my knowns to get full credit on them.

Hello again! This is my second make-up blog this week. In my last blog I talked about the end of the year and how finals are approaching quickly. In this blog I'd like to talk about what I have learned in geometry this past year. My teacher Ms. J will sometimes pop random life lessons during our geometry class. Which some people will tune out, but I always found them to be interesting. What we do in our geometry class is very helpful in pushing us in the right direction towards our future in upperclassman classes and in college.

Hi everyone, I will have two make-up blogs this week due to my lack of blogging in prior weeks. Its that time of year where everyone gets to be very stressed out about graduation, spring sports, and the year coming to an end. It seems to me that teachers are now trying to fit in as much as they can before the year ends. It's not long until I have to think about studying for finals again. For geometry I will probably use my old tests and quizzes to study for the final. My guess is that the final is on the full year of geometry, not just a half year. So looking back on what I did in September would benefit me well on my final.

Aren't April showers supposed to bring May flowers? I don't see many flowers :( These past few weeks haven't been the greatest weather wise. I think we are all waiting for a few days of sunshine! Thise past week in geometry we learned more about the pythagorean theorem. (A2 + B2 = C2)used to find out the third leg of a right triangle. I find this theorem to be very useful in this class because not only can we find the lengths of legs, we can use it to find areas of triangles and quadrilaterals.But we will learn more about that topic in the upcoming week of geometry!!!

Hello everyone! How was everyones April break? Mine was very relaxing. I took a trip to Florida with my parents. I spent everyday sleeping on the beach. The weather was so nice down there, but I also heard that It was really good in York as well. Hopefully the weather will get back to where is was because last week it rained all week long. :( My lacrosse games weren't too fun to play in the rain.
This past week in Geometry we took a test on translations and stared a new unit on radicals! In my algebra 2 class we are also learning about radicals. Hopefully since I've already have a strong base on them it will be easier for me in this unit of Geometry!
