This quarter of Language Arts the book theme was SciFi. The book i chose was called Lunchbox and the Aliens. I chose this book in particular because i liked the description on the back of the cover. I loved this book a lot and my favorite part was when Mayor Thornhill was arrested. Why? One he is EVIL because he was bribing the garabage man wastrying to win an election too with the money. I would recommend this book to people who love funny stories because this one is hillarious and weird but funny events happen to a regular dog and his boy.

Invention

My favorite invention is the Soda Stream® which is practically a soda maker for home. This device makes my families life easier because we don't have to go to the store often and agree one flavor of soda. Also buying the flavoring is super cheap. One bottle of flavoring (50 liters) = $5. Who invented it? I don't know but I know it was invented in 1970/1980s and was popular in the UK. The Soda Stream has a slim figure look a little like a thin coffee machine with a oval button on top and a bottle that looks helium miniature helium bottle on the back.

Non Fiction

I like many nonfiction article topics but my favorite topic is Marine Biology. Spefically I like the deep ocean that we Know little about. Why? I like the deep sea because it has the most amazing creatures that have adapted to their enviroment. Most of these creatures have adapted to their dark, cold, under pressure enviroment by using lights to mate and find prey. What do I know? Not much since scientist do not know much about this topic cause it is impossible for a human to survive the pressure of water above. I do know a few animals though such as the Deeep Sea Angler who uses a light dangling over its head as bait to catch its prey.
Marine Biology is the study of under water ecosystems. :)

QWERTY

Wonderopolis Wonder # 496 What Is QWERTY?
This wonder of the day you can tap on your key board and was no accident. Wonder # 496: What is QWERTY?
The QWERTY layout was invented by a guy named Christopher Sholes. In the 1860, Sholes began working on prototypes of the typewriter in his shop. The first commerial type writer Sholes made was designed for you to tap on a button and a bar (with the particular letter you chose) with ink on it would press against a long ribbon, leaving an impression of that letter. The problem was the most commonly used bars were next to each other creating jams. So, Sholes made it so the commonly use bars were spaced out to stop jamming. That's how QWERTY was born! We still have been using The QWERTY Layout for 3 cenutries and is universal. There are some words you must know in this artical; layout , universal and prototype. Layout means the way something is set up. Universial means every country on the earth uses that same thing and or in this case same format. Last, prototype means a primary type of some object that still needs improving.

My Thoughts on Poetry

I think poetry is very cool because you can express the way you look at things in the easiest way possible. Many of my favorite poets include: Jack Prelutsky, Shel Silverstein and Christina Rossetti, (who is the author of Flint, one of my favorite poems). These poets are my favorites because Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein make laugh from their hillarious poems while Chirstina Rossetti makes me think and is very inspiring, especially her poem Flint. I am very good at finding many poetic devices such as assonance, end rhyme, otomatopeoia, and personification. I am really good at using end rhyme, otomatopeoia, alliteration and assonance in poems I've created. My future poems will be for children who like poems with lots of rhyme and are short.

Flint
by:Christina RossetiFlint
An emerald is as green as grass,
A ruby red as blood;
A sapphire shines as blue as heaven;
A flint lies in the mud.
A diamond is a brilliant stone,
To catch the world's desire;
An opal holds a fiery spark;
But a flint holds fire.
I like this poem because it inspires me to think that maybe that the prettiest person is not the usefulest person.

Could You Be Royalty?
Could you be royalty? Probably not. When kids think about royalty, kids usually think about Cinderella,Snow White or other fairy Princesses. On the other hand some kids think about real princesses like Princess Diana. Royalty
formed in medieval Europe centuries ago. What happened when a king died ? Well when a king dies his heirs would succeed him, usually according to the rules of inheritance of money and property. Other nobles would pass on their titles and positions to their heirs in a similar way. Not in every county people called a king a king. Here is a list of what kings are called in different countries.....
- Japan and Ancient Rome: emperor/empress
- Ancient Egypt: pharaoh
- India: raja
- Muslim countries: sultan
So could you be royalty? Probably not the odds are realy against you.
Wonder words :
hail- to bow and praise real enthusiastically
royalty- a person who has royal blood
territories- land separated in certain areas

Holland Traditions For Christmas
Holland has many tradions on their Christmas. Holland has a similar belief in Santa Claus except their Santa is called Sinterklaas. Sinterklaas journeys in a boat to Holland with his elf named Black Peter. On December 5th or in Holland Known as Sinterklaas Eve presents are exchanged. Where Does SinterKlaas live? If you asked any child that question they would of course say Mexico. I think that Holland's Christmas is cool and I think I would enjoy celeabrating their christmas.

Revelutionary War Novel Book Review

My revelutionary war book is Geoge Washington Spymaster. I really like this book because it has high vocabulary and just right near my lexile score.
So far in my book George Washington and other spies have formed a spy ring to help the Americans win the revelutionary. To do this Geoge Washington has formed a code with a fellow spy named Tallomadge. There is one problem with writing to other spies which is British or Red Coats can capture american spy letters and read american secret attacks. Not a problem. Jay James (part of the Culper Ring) makes an invisible ink that can only be read if coated with a chemical.The first part of this book talks about men spies, what about the women spies? There were many women spies. This book ends with a spy vs spy batttle with the Americans combimed with the French soldier against the British which is 17000 vs 8000. I liked how at the end the American/French captured the British soldiers and General Cornwallis surendered.
You might want to read this book if you like reading history books about the revelutionary war.

Also for L.A I could make a picture for are revelutionary war books.

My opinion about smartville is I think it is pretty cool. One reason I think this is that at Smartville children can use their smarts in everyday adult life. Another reason why is at Smartville the halls have street names and also a post office. At the post office children can sort the teachers mail. I really think that Smartville is awesome.

When I took the How Am I Smart assessment, my highest intelIgence was spatial inteligence. Spatial inteligence is drawing and art. This is perfect for me because I love to draw pictures for my mom and nana. Also I have had some of my art work hung up in the hallway of my old school. Plus I want to be an artist when I grow up.

The book I am reading is Nancy Drew The Triple Hoax. In this book Nancy gets a letter from her Aunt asking her to come solve a mystery for a friend in New York. The case was about a guy who offered Mrs.Richard (her aunt's friend) some hotel tickets that cost $3,000 each, whats weird is the hotel only took cash. A swidle! Nancy turns to her friends Bess and George to help her solve this case.While at New York the trio stumble across a group called The Hoaxers who used Bess' hand bag to do a magic trick. Later a man comes and offers a life times reservation on... HOTEL TICKETS at a beach. The second swidle! What will be the last hoax?
