wonder 2 Are you worth your salt

Article posted March 12, 2012 at 07:20 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 304

This is hard to imagen but salt long ago was worth as much as gold. Have you ever heard someone say '' worth its salt'' to another person this means they think of them as great value. This saying came from the Ancient Romans. Now you can buy salt for very low prices but almost 8,000 years ago salt was very hard to get.Salt is something that are bodys need to function properly but long ago many places in the world were not able to produce it.We all can relate to this because almost every thing wwe eat has salt in it. We do need salt to live but to much of it can be a problem and it can hurt your heart.

poem

Article posted February 21, 2012 at 02:23 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 385

My favorite author who writes poems is Jack Prelusky.I like him because he writes funny nonsence poems like a pizza the size of the sun and a poem about spagahetti seeds. As far as topics of poems I like realalistic poems if I am reading poems but if I am writing poems I like to right funny or silly poems.I would say that the device that is the easyest to find is alliteration because it is my favorite type and I am always on the look out for it. The devices I use the most would probubly be onamotopia and simile. I think that my creative poems will have lots of describing words and I will try to make it so they are some what funny but still stick to the topic.

my favorite poem

Article posted February 9, 2012 at 02:26 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 383

My teacher took my iPod.

She said they had a rule;

I couldn't bring it into class

or even to the school.

She said she would return it;

I'd have it back today.

But then she tried my headphones on

and gave a click on Play.

She looked a little startled,

but after just a while

she made sure we were occupied

and cracked a wicked smile.

Her body started swaying.

Her toes began to tap.

She soon was grooving in her seat

and rocking to the rap.

My teacher changed her mind.

She said it's now okay

to bring my iPod into class.

She takes it every day
.

--Kenn Nesbitt

I like this poem because I like how it rymes. Also I like this poem because at the end the teacher likes the music so she decides to let her have it back but she has to bring it every day to school and still the teacher takes it so that she can listen to the music.

Here is a little information about this cool wonder! When we put candels on are birthday cake we usually dont think about why we do this and or who was the first person to start this tradition. It turns out that blowing out the birthday candles is something that Ancient greeks did. Also Germans began to do it but for a differnt reason,to them it ment "the light of life".Many people know do this because of spiritual reasons alot of people think that the smoke will get the bad spirits away. I really thought this was a cool wonder and I liked that I could share it with other people.

toliver secret

Article posted December 7, 2011 at 12:47 AM GMT • comment • Reads 856

So far, this book is about...a girl named Ellen who is sent by her grandfather to be a spy in the war and deliver a message to Genral Washinton.

My favorite character in the book is mr. Higgends  because...he was one of the only red coats on the boat that was nice to ellen and  tried to help her get to Elizebeth.

I liked when...Ellen found Mr. murdock so that she did not have to walk all the whey to  Elizbeth town.

I didn't like...when she got to Mr, murdocks house  and his wife was kind of mean to her and made her take off her wet close, But ellen new that was a badd idea because she did not want her to know she was dressed up as a boy.

You might want to read this book if you like emma and the sivol warrior because emma and ellen are very alike in some ways like, they both are very brave and adventurest also they are very wise and have to be in very scary setuashions

Article posted November 21, 2011 at 08:10 PM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 982

I think I would really like to go to that school and it looked like the kids who go there realy love it. my favorite part about that school is how the kids can act like they are adults and take cooking and act like they work at a bank. also i really liked how kids can show what they can do best in a showcasing at the end of  the year. I think how they make the pre and post test is pretty cool because they make each test so that each kid can really practice there own smart. I think enota is a really cool school.
