The Green Futures of Tycho

The book I read was the Green Futures of Tycho. I wanted to read Lunchbox and the Aliens or Go Big or Go Home real bad. I did not want to read Among the Hidden. I would have put Flip in for my third choice but I am a very slow reader and I wouldn't have finished the book in time. The only other book was the Green Futures of Tycho. At the very begging when Tycho finds the time travel device is probably the best part. I would not recomend this book to someone unless they love time travel and it is there favorite thing. This book basically only had a lot of time travel and not much else. It is great for a while because time travel is cool. Then I got bored because all he does is time travel.

The most important invention I know of that hasn't been taken is the airplane. It makes our life easier because it is quicker than a car, boat or sub-marine. The Wright brothers invented the airplane in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903. Airplanes look like this:

I really like airplanes! I can't wait until the Boeing 787 comes out, which will be the biggest aircraft ever! I am not sure but I think that it is 3 floors!

Nonfiction Blog

A general nonfiction topic I really like is amusement
park rides and attractions. A specific topic is roller coasters.
I have always loved to ride rides, it is so fun. Some things I
know about roller coasters are: There are two types of roller
coasters, wooden and steel coasters. Another thing I know
about roller coasters is that some coasters have metal sides
and then when you go over special tracks you will go
shooting very fast. Then sometimes you’ll go shooting
toward the sky upward afterward. (An example is Sky
Rocket at Kennywood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.)

These are the special tracks that make you go really
fast.
(Kennywood, Pennsylvania)

This is Sky Rocket after it went over the special tracks.
(Kennywood, Pennsylvania)

This is an indoor roller coaster with a cart that can spin.
(Kennywood, Pennsylvania)

This roller coaster is called Thunderbolt.
(Kennywood, Pennsylvania)

This one is called Griffon. It hangs at the beginning of a
205 foot drop for about 5 seconds then it drops straight
down.
(Busch Gardens, Virginia)

This is a roller coaster with a corkscrew, it’s called
Krakin.
(Sea World, Florida)

This roller coaster is called Manta. On this coaster you
hang by your back while riding the coaster.
(Sea World, Florida)

This is another part of the coaster called Krakin.
(Sea World, Florida)

They make roller coasters for little kids too.

Have you ever witnessed Dèjá Vu

Have you ever witnessed Dèjá Vu? Déjá Vu is when you think you have seen or heard something before. Dèjá Vu means "already seen" in French. When you have dèjá vu you can't figure out where it came from, usually people think it was in a dream. Dèjá Vu was invented by Emile Boirac. I chose this because I witness Dèjá Vu a lot. Usually it happens to me once or twice a month.
Familiar: commonly or generally known or seen.
Eerie: uncanny, so as to inspire superstitious fear; weird.
Glimpse: a very brief, passing look, sight or view.

My Thoughts On Poetry

I am enjoying poetry so far. I really enjoy the anthology Scranimals, I also like the poets Jack Prelutsky and Dave Crawley. I really enjoy poems with personification in them. I am really good at finding some poetic devises like end - rhyme, personification, and alliteration. Some poetic devices I might use during our creative poetry time are: alliteration, personification, end - rhyme, and onomatopoeia. I will try to use a lot of my weather topics when I am creating poetry.

My favorite poem is...
yip yip woof!
By: Dave Crawley
Tiny Chihuahua.
Humongous Great Dane.
The difference between them
Is really quite plain.
Feisty Chihuahua
Will yap yap and yip.
If he doesn’t like you.
You may get a nip!
Gentle Great Dane
Has a powerful bite
But never would nip you.
She’s much too polite.
Great Dane finds the carpet
A fine place to nap.
Chihuahua loves curling
Right up in your lap.
Their owners would have
Some cause for dismay
if each dog behaved
in the opposite way.
I really like this poem because I really like dogs! I also really like Dave Crawley as a poet. I think he's a great rhymer.

can you grow candy corn?

I am doing: Can You Grow Candy Corn? Candy corn is popular around Halloween, but you can buy it year round in the store. There are a lot of different types of candy corn for some holidays, like reindeer corn for Christmas and bunny corn in the spring for Easter. There is also Indian corn around Thanksgiving and Cupid corn for Valentines Day. It was invented by George Renigger in the 1800s. A fun fact is that candy corn is fat free. And, if you haven't realized, you can't grow candy corn!
Words:
Kernel: The body of a seed within its husk or integument.
Stalk: The stem or main axis of a plant.
Texture: The visual and especially tactile quality of a surface.

Christmas in France

The place I have decided to choose for my blog is France. The greeting is "Joyeux Noel". One decoration that they have is the dolls, they represent the various regions in France. The tree type is traditional (the kind we have) ex. pine tree. another decoration is lily colored roses. Another decoration is Garland. This is usually silver or gold. The Christmas season starts on November 11, St. Martins Day. The season ends on Janurary 6 when they have the feast of Epiphany. Advent is 4 weeks long and is the coming of the arrival of Christmas. In the past they would butcher a pig to prepare for the Christmas meal. The Yule Log is tradition back in the 12th century. How you do it is: a family goes to the woods on Christmas eve and selects a tree, they take the wood to the house, pour wine, oil, and salt on it. Prayers and songs are said while they light the log. Sometimes the youngist girl in the house lights the log. These are some things the people in France do around the holidays.

Toliver

My book is Toliver's Secret. The main character is Ellen Toliver. She is delivering a message that is hidden in a snuffbox, that is hidden in a loaf of bread. Ellen is disguised as a boy when she really is a girl. I liked when she has to make up reasons not to eat the bread. If you like missions, adventures and disguises then you probably would like Toliver's Secret.
I really enjoy the book!

Apply Your Intelligences Blog

One of my intelligences is naturist intelligence. A way that I could show this in a class project is by a class pet. I would show how good I am with animals and how to take care of them. Another intelligence I have is bodily - kinesthetic. A way I could show it in class is by doing projects where we are not just in our seats, but we move around the room to work and do projects, but not just sitting. It could be a big class project together.

I like what they do at smartsville. It looks fun. The post office looks real cool. I would use that a lot. I would like running the store because I like selling things and taking peoples orders. It looks like a lot of fun! Even if they have a post office and a store I still like Voyager better!

One thing that makes me smart is naturalist intelegence because, I enjoy being in the outdoors and taking care of nature. I also can identify a pattern pretty quick. Another way I am smart is bodily - kinesthetic intellegence. Here's some reasons I am good at this. Well first of all I can't sit still for long. I also like doing not watching. I also like a lot of sports.

My state is Maryland. I chose this state because it's near West Virginia ( the state I wanted ). But this was one of my top choices. The capital of Maryland is Annapolis. Maryland is 38 degrees north and 76 degrees west. The area of Maryland is 12,407 square miles. There is one plateau in Maryland which is called the Piedmont Plateau. Something that seems interesting to me about Maryland is a river called " Gun Powder River ". I enjoyed my states research!
