My trip to Brainpop
By: Jackie
Hi, my name is Jackie I am going to write about a class trip to Brainpop’s headquarters. For those of you who don’t know what Brainpop is, it’s a website where kids can learn about history, science, math anything even insects and while you are learning you still have fun! Anyway my trip was more fun than educational . Also there were so many parts of the trip I loved even the bus ride. My favorite parts of the trip was drawing our own cartoon, and looking at everyone's job.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was drawing our own cartoon. It was so amazing in the office seeing everyone working but, there was this one room where it was so much cooler. It was the place where the people in charge have their meetings, and I actually got to sit in the boss’s chair. Before my class and I started drawing the cartoons the tour guide show use the steps on how the people from Brainpop actually make the videos. That was a lot of fun but that's a different story. And a minute before we started to draw, the tour guide gave my class and I a real cartoon that they made into a video just in case we needed an explanation. Everyone had to have their own idea about what to write about. It took me awhile to actually find the right thing to draw about. And then I finally chose... ALIENS! I knew it sounded funny but that’s what Brainpop is sort of all about! Right in the middle of all of the cartooning an actual ARTIST FROM BRAINPOP CAME INTO THE ROOM!!! Then our tour guide asked if he could draw a quick sketch of a cartoon. It was an amazing moment and, my and I class got to keep the autographed cartoon it was like I was the most optimistic person in the whole world.
Of course I saved the best for last. My first favorite part of the trip was figuring out everyone’s job. I loved going around looking at what were people’s jobs and seeing what they are doing:P.S It’s the people who work there who were looking at. First we went to this one guy who was creating a new game called “Guts and Bolts,” he only showed us the introduction to the game but, it was still fun just watching the introduction. Next my class and I went to another guy, he is a illustrator but, when he draws he draws on a pad that is sort of like a piece of paper. So, what ever you draw on the pad it comes up on the computer. We also found this job where everyone that works there is included but, for them to do this everyone MUST have a map of the United States. The reason why everyone must have a map of the United States is because say someone in Texas accidentally called an illustrator for help, the illustrator looks at the map and sees who answers calls from Texas.
That field trip was so, so, so much fun!!! To me that was like a one in a lifetime experience! What surprised me about this trip was the way it looked like inside the room. Cause it looked like a regular office, I thought inside there was going to be cameras, green screens, and recording booths to add sound to the cartoons and games. But, it was still a fun trip.

The French and Indian war project
By: Jackie Jara
I just read a blog about two planets at war called “Welcome to Earth” by Maya (her class is reading a book). I thought the story was interesting because in the it had a little bit of humor “Which describes the encounter between the humans and the ‘Men from Mars’, which started a terrible war, and you get the point. When I was done reading the story I thought about how Maya said in the story“Which started a terrible war” and that reminded me about a project that my class is working on about the French and Indian war. It reminded me of the first couple of days we started the project.
One school day, my teacher, Mrs. Parisi was talking to the class about a project we were going to soon be working on. Mrs. Parisi split the whole class into two separate groups. She said that there are three categories art, writing, and multimedia (multimedia is something on the computer that is making movements). Then she asked how many of us want to draw, I was in group 1 and my group had a lot of students wanting to draw including me, group 2 not too many students wanted to draw. Then Mrs. Parisi asked who wants to write, no one raised their hand in my group but, in group 2 at least three people said they wanted to write. Lastly, Mrs. Parisi asked who wants to do multimedia, in my group just two people wanted to do it and in group 2 I think only one kid raised their hand. After that whole thing my class had a WHOLE discussion about how the number of kids from each group in each category should be sort of equal but thats another story. The next day my class started the project I was in the art group, the project wasn’t actually what I thought we were going to do first because we had to answer at least three questions on the computer in our docs my group was trying their best to answer questions. My group and I were reading the questions over and over again and we are still working on the questions because they include a lot of research to answer them but some of the resources used to search are actually quite interesting. In the first day I remembered that one of the websites you could use is Brainpop it’s a really fun place where you just type in what you want in the search box and it gives you a funny yet educational video. The second day of the project wasn’t as bad as the first, and my group tried to work even harder than on the first day my group and I were researching up famous people from the past ( like George Washington and all) I actually found out when George Washington was born and were. It didn’t really give my group that much information so I kept researching I couldn’t find anything else but it was fine.

Amazing places in New York
By: Jackie /span>
There are many interesting places in New York. There is Broadway, and where the Twin Towers were. If it is the first time you are visiting New York then you have A LOT of places to go and see.
Broadway is one of my most FAVORITE places to visit. Broadway is a place to see all kinds of types of princess stories, Christmas stories, Mary Poppins shows, Superhero stories (like Batman, Spiderman, Superman) and MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE=http://! I have been going to see broadway shows ever since I was 3 or 4 years old. My first show was Beauty and the Beast, and all of the Broadway shows I have seen were phenomenal and, who ever acted or sang in the show I would always idolize them because they are some of the best actors EVER! Each and every time I watch a Broadway show I am just mesmerized because the show is always SO interesting! Anyway I think I have seen at least 10 Broadway shows! When you are in New York the first place you want to visit is Broadway!!:)
The Twin Towers have a tragic back story and New York will always remember the day of 9/11. One day long before I was born there were two towers exactly alike sitting next to each other on the same ground. It was a normal day, that’s what it seemed like, millions of people were in the two towers (the towers were offices) and they were just walking around minding their own business then, CRASH! Two airplanes just fly right into the two buildings! There was a fire close to the middle of the towers, there were people running out and screaming there were ever people trying to get out but couldn’t, then all of a sudden a huge explosion is coming right out of the buildings, people are gaping at the humanity. After the whole thing police and investigators were searching for the terrorist, but they couldn’t find him because it turns out that he (the terrorist) was is one of the planes when the crash happened. That day was a HORRIFYING DAY for everyone and as I said before New York will never forget the day of 9/11. You must go and see where the Twin Towers were, maybe you’ll even see what’s left. Actually an interesting fact is that there was one living thing that survived the crash and that is a tree. Now whenever people visit where the Twin Towers were they would find the tree and put money on it, I should know I was right where the Twin Towers were.
There are many more places to see in New York and I’m SURE you’ll enjoy them.

Bud Not Buddy

In the story Bud Not Buddy I realized that family can sometimes know what you like, and Bud experienced that in some parts of the story. There are three people who knew what Bud liked. Mr. Calloway’s band, Miss Hill, and Miss Thomas. Even though these people are not realy Bud’s family, they treated him like family. I think Bud made a lot of family during the book.
Mr. Calloway’s band knew what Bud liked through-out a part of the story. Mr. Calloway’s band knew what Bud liked because the band was once practicing for a show. While they were playing Bud was sitting down and listening to the band’s music. The band saw Bud. They knew he was enjoying their practice so they went over to Bud and gave Bud an instrument so one day he could play and practice with the band.
Miss Hill(a librarian) knew what Bud liked through-out a part of the story. Miss Hill knew what Bud liked because when ever Bud went to her library he always looked for books with maps and Miss Hill always gave him a book with maps but, she gave him a book that she thought that might have been interesting to Bud, and all the time Bud never notices that he always devours the book he reads! Also because Miss. Hill always says once he is done with his book “WOW, you really devoured that book!”
Miss Thomas knew what Bud liked through-out a part of the story. Miss Thomas knew what Bud liked because the band was going out for lunch and they all invited Bud. So, once they were at the dinner and when they all were ready to order, Miss Thomas gave Bud a few suggestions on what he wants to drink and eat. Then everything Miss.Thomas said Bud said “Yes ma’am,” or “Thank you ma’am,” or “Yes ma’am I would like that ma’am.”
In the story Bud Not Buddy I noticed that family knows what you like. In the story there are three people who know what Bud likes. Mr. Calloway’s band, Miss Hill, and Miss Thomas. I think that Bud is an incredible child that has a lot of people as his family. Although all of these people were not Bud’s real family, they still treated him like family.

Hi, my name is Jackie, is it your first art class and you don’t know what type of equipment you need to use for art, then fallow these tips and you will be prepared to make great paintings and have a good art class!
Step 1.You must get brushes in all different shapes and sizes to get the right shape because when I went to my first art class I had this one thin brush, it helped with small insides but, it took me forever to fill in the big insides.
Step 2.You must get water color paint and acrylic paint to have a thick and thin kind of paint (make sure to get all of the colors).
Step 3.You must get canvases, thick paper, and thin paper to make sure the paint does not go through the paper because your painting gets ruined and then you have to make another one.
Step 4.You must get oil pastels to make the colors in your painting look very smooth or you can make it look like a blurry painting.
Step 5.You must get a ruler, a pencil, and a eraser to edit your picture, make your lines strait, and put in extra lines to make your painting look interesting.
Step 6.You absolutely must get a color palette to micks your colors to make cool colors.
Step 7. You also absolutely must get a box and folder to hold your paint, brushes, paper, oil pastels, ruler, pencil, eraser, color palette and more because if you don’t you are going to end up holding every thing in your hands.
Step 8.You must get an easel to hold your painting paper on (a easel is a stand-CAUTION- LEAVE THE EASEL AT YOUR HOUSE).
Step 9.You don’t have to but you can get colored pencils to have lines in your picture and to make grass in your painting look extra cool.
Step 10.You must get charcoal pencils (black and white) to make things look shady or bright in your pictures also with the black you can make things look mysterious.
Step 11.You must all so get scissors to cut your paper or make your paper have a cool shape at the edge.
Now if you have all of these things then you are ready to go to your first art class. Also when you come back and you had a great art class be sure to comment.

Panthers
A panther’s habitat has a lot of vegetation, water, sunlight and it also has a lot of trees. The reason why there aren’t any more panther’s here in the U.S.A is because we started monopolizing them because they are one of our enemies. The things that are happening now that there aren’t any panthers in the U.S.A is that there is a large population of deer! There was not as much deer when the panthers were still in the U.S.A because panthers eat deer. The way life would be if panthers were still here is that there would be a larger amount of panthers than people, because panthers eat us to.

The Time I Made One of My Friends Dream Come True
By Jacqueline Jara
It was a nice sunny day but it was freezing out side. In school during recess I grouped up with my friends. We always have a topic to talk about so today’s topic were movies in the movie theater. We were talking about it then one of my other friends came and asked if she could play with use we answered “ OF COURSE YOU CAN!” We told her what the topic was and suddenly she didn’t want to play and when she tolled use she didn’t want to play she tolled use in a unhappy way. I wondered why she didn’t want to play so I asked her. She tolled me that she has never ever seen a movie before in the movie theater before in her whole entire life! So I gave her a promise that I will have a play date with but the play date is going to be in a movie theater. The day we had our play date was a question day because my friend kept asking me… “What does a theater look like?” Once we got there my friend looked so amazed as if she has seen the center of the earth! The thing she liked most about the theater were the seats shed rocked back and forth the whole time! When the movie ended and when we had to leave my friend shouted “THAT MOVIE WAS AWSOME” so many times as if she were an iPod and she was stuck on replay! That is the story of the time I made one of my friends dream come true!

My Fourth Grade Hopes and Dreams
By Jacqueline
This year I am planning to try and achieve my new goals. My first goal is to be a better reader. The way I’m going to be a better reader is to go to sleep earlier and get a book on my level. My second goal is to be a better artist. The way I’m going to achieve that goal is to practice at my house and get a book about art. My final goal is to be a better athlete. The way I’m going to do that is to exercise more and try new sports. The way I’m going to achieve all my goals is by trying my hardest and never giving up.
