Once upon a time there was a girl who wanted to be a princess. Every Sunday afternoon she would throw a tea party for the whole neighborhood. Her parents thought that it was adorable so they would always buy enough snacks for all who attended, which of course was everyone in the neighborhood. They all loved the young child. Not only did everyone want to attend her parties but were upset when they could. The girl truly had everyone under her "rule", as she told her parents.
One stormy afternoon a new family moved into the home next to the young girl. This family had a boy who was just a couple years older than young girl. The boy's parents were absolutely in love with the younger girl for her imagination and creativity. This fact did not make the boy very happy and he hated the girl for being "adorable", as his parents had said. His parents would tell him that he should go "play the prince to her princess". Being a boy of the age of 10, this did not sound like a good idea. To be quite honest he didn't think would sound like a good idea on any planet.
The family had been in the neighborhood for about two weeks and gone to both of the tea parties they had been in town for. On the third Sunday though the boy decided he would attend the tea party. Everything was going well and the girl had come outside in her dress and told everyone they could eat. The boy thought that it was the most rediculous thing in the world. Before they left the girl asked the boy if he enjoyed himself. The boy, hating the girl, told her, "No. This was a waste of time and, just so you're aware, you are NEVER going to be a princess." Then the girl ran away crying into her home never to be seen again because boys are mean.
The End

Dear Freshy,
There's not too much to really tell you that you don't already know. One of the main things that is absolutely necessary is to keep your grades up. Never let any of your grades drop too far because it can be very difficult to get them back up. Another big one is to always do your blogs and do them on time. I know they won't seem like much at first but they can actually bring your grade down a lot. I guess what I'm really trying to get at is stay on top of things, and do NOT procrastinate.
Now that I'm done ranting about grades I'll get onto other things. I know that people say ninth grade isn't that bad but to be honest, they're lying. Ninth grade is definitely not a good year. First off, all of the older kids hate your guts no matter who you are. Second, teachers aren't always reminding you to do things that you didn't hand in. If you didn't hand something in on time then I guess that's just too bad. This is the grade where you finally have to take charge and get your act together. I do apologize that this probably isn't what you wanted to hear but oh well.
Sincerely, Shania

Have you ever looked at a song based on a book and thought, do they depict the characters correctly? I don't know about you but I sure haven't.
For this blog I chose the song Check Yes Juliet by We the Kings. I chose this song because I think it is has good accuracy when compared to Romeo and Juliet.
In the song they depict both Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is depicted as a boy, creeping outside of Juliet's home trying to get her attention. Then he tells her to run away with him and to not let anyone change her mind. He also tells her not to “sell her heart”. They don't exactly depict Juliet as much. This is because the singer is supposedly Romeo. The reason that Romeo creeping outside of Juliet's window and telling her to run away with him is accurate because that's pretty much what he does in the play.
In the play Romeo and Juliet made plans to get married and run away after she caught him outside of her window. The allusion of Romeo telling her not to sell her heart is also accurate because in the play she may have to get married to Paris. By telling her this he is saying run away with me and don't marry him just like he tells her in the play.
I think that the accuracy is very good in this song when compared to the play. In the play Romeo wants Juliet to run away with him and not marry Paris. He also says this in the song when he says,
"Lace up your shoes
Here's how we do
Run baby run
Don't ever look back They'll tear us apart if you give them the chance
Don't sell your heart, don't say we're not meant to be
Run baby run, forever will be
You and me”.
In these lines of the song Romeo is telling Juliet to get her things and run away with him because they’re meant to be. This is accurate when compared to the play because in the play Juliet fakes her death to run away with Romeo.
Those are some example of how the song depicts Romeo and Juliet. Also there is whether or not the depictions were accurate to the book.

I'm not sure if this is just me but, I don't understand the point in spreading rumors about sommeone else. I've had plenty of rumors spread about me this past year. There are so many kids who commit suicide over things as childish as rumors. I mean, do people not realize this when they spread the rumor? Do they not think about the effect that it could have on the person?
I believe that people need to realize that there's more to a person than you think you may know. Rumors are spread daily and are spread by usually a person who knows nothing about the victim other than their name and appearance. It honestly makes me sick to think that someone could spread such horrible things about someone that they don't even know, or worse, someone that they once call their best friend.
Another thing about rumors that gets to me is the reasons that people spread the rumor. Most of the reasons are over things like, oh that's my friend not yours, or I like him and so do you so I don't like you. It's absolutely rediculous and disgusting. It seems that the most kids talk about anymore is eachother.
Many of rumors that I hear anymore are about very immature things. They range from, this person has this std, to this girl is pregnant with this guy's child. People thought that rumors were bad when they were things such as someone kissed someone else. Rumors have gone completely out of control and I think people should really stop worrying about other people's lives and worry about their own. This probably sounds like the biggest rant ever but I could honestly care less. I just think that people should think before they spread a rumor. Just think, this little lie could cause this person to commit suicide. It's not that difficult to stop and think.

Once upon a time I lost all of my socks. No matter how good I hid them, they would disappear in the middle of the night. In my opinion, the worst part is that even the socks off my very feet disappear. I've gone through all of the possible explanations and the only one that makes sense is that little elves are stealing my socks.
I decided that I would stay up ALL night and watch my sock drawer, but stay lying down so the elves don't know I'm awake. It seemed to be forever before I heard the window in my bathroom creek open. I waited patiently for the creature to enter my bedroom. Not even two seconds later I saw a little creature scurry across my floor and under my bed. Slowly, I looked under my bed, and alas, it was only a mouse that had scurried in.
Now, I again lay waiting for the elves to enter my home. I just lay, doing nothing and began to drift off into a deep sleep. The next few minutes were kind of weird. I heard someone laughing. The laugh just happened to be coming from my sock drawer. It was now or never! I ran to my sock drawer and picked the little caped creature off of my socks and, as I thought, it was an elf! I looked that little freak in the face and told him, "IF YOU STEAL MY SOCKS ONE MORE TIME I'M GONNA LIGHT YOUR CAPE ON FIRE!" Now, it's been ten years and my socks are sitting safely in my drawer, never to be touched by that two inch tall, little caped man.

Construction Theory Feminist Feminists would greatly criticize the movie The Little Mermaid because she changes herself solely to please a man and endangers her life in attempt to snag his attention.
Ariel, the mermaid protagonist of the movie, changes her physical form exclusively to fit the shallow requirements of a human male. For example, she gives up her voice to change her body completely, to be able to be with Prince Eric. In the middle of the story Ariel gives her voice to Ursula so she can change from mermaid, to human. This would be greatly criticized because a girl changes herself for a man, which would make her lesser than him.
Now onto the next example of the issue. While trying to please Prince Eric, Ariel endangers her own life. This is due to the fact that she 1) gives up her voice, and 2) changes her physical form. This endangers her because she doesn’t have any way to communicate, and doesn’t know how to walk with legs. Feminist would criticize this because she seems helpless and deep in love, which most women are not.
As you can see, feminists would not like the movie The Little Mermaid due to the factors of her need to please a man and in the act, looking like a helpless child while doing so.

Once upon a time there was a kitten named Kelly. Though this kitten wasn't like others, for she was in love with a fish. Which, as most of you know, cats usually eat fish. This fish's name was Brandon.
Every day at exactly 12 o'clock the two would meet at the dock and talk for hours. They were truely in love. One day Brandon wasn't at the dock. Instead there was a note telling Kelly to go to the east side of the river. There she met Brandon. Brandon showed her his home and she spent that night there with Brandon.
The next few days Kelly didn't go to the dock. That was until one day, in which she told Brandon she was pregnant! It seemed to take forever before she gave birth. During the months of her pregnancy Kelly lived down next to the river with Brandon. Finally, serveral weeks later, Kelly was ready to have the child.
Both Kelly and Brandon's families were there to find out if the child would be a cat or a fish. Though the child wasn't exactly one or the other. It was half cat, half fish, so they called it a catfish. Many people have heard different stories, but this is the true story. Congratulations, now you know the truth, so tell all of your friends and family.
The End

"You don't know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have left."
~Unknown
This quote can apply to pretty much everyone's life. I found it quite easy to apply it to my life. Two reasons for that is the car accident I was in in the 7th grade and on March 11th of this year when my Dad passed away.
On our way to Disney Land, my grandparents, brother, two cousins, and I got in a car accident. That day I almost lost my younger brother, David because the van flipped and landed on his head. My mother, aunt, two sister, and two cousins (all following in the van behind ours) had to lift the van off of his head. His scalp had been peeled back and he had broken bones and fractures in various places. We had to stay in a hospital in Virginia while my brother and I recovered, pretty much learning how to walk again. This quote goes along with this day because we all didn’t have any other choice but to be strong and deal with the events that happened.
March 11th, 2011 was probably the worst night of my existence. This was the night that my father passed away. He had been at a friend’s house, drunk as usual, and fell down the basement stairs, whacking his head. He went back upstairs and didn’t bother to tell anyone. He soon after fell asleep and his friends called an ambulance because he wouldn’t wake back up. He never did wake back up after that. All of the beer he drank over the years and aspirin he took it caused him to go brain dead. I think that the worst part of that night was when we went to the hospital to see him. He was lying in the hospital bed, with only the machines pumping air into his lungs keeping him alive, his stomach moving up and down with the machines each pump of air. This quote always reminds me that I have to be strong and move on, which is why this is just another day that this quote reminds me of.
I know that a lot of people have it worse than I do, which is why I don’t complain. Though I also know that these days have made me stronger. So always remember, you don’t know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have left.

In the book Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, I had a question. What do you think about the conversation that Will had with his father, nice talk or weird conversation?
