Choices are Difficult
Have you ever had to choose between two things you really like? Well in the story “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant” The narrator had to. He had to choose between his loved hobby of fishing and a very beautiful girl that he liked also. What I think the narrator should of done. He should of chosen the fish, but tried to date Sheila Mant.
He should of tried to date the girl because every guy thinks she is a very pretty girl, so he would of been able to have his hobby of fishing and a pretty girl. One thing, Sheila Mant told him was that she doesn’t like to fish, but he could try to get her to like fishing. Also they took a canoe fishing, and places instead of a car because he couldn’t drive but she didn’t know that though he could of told her the truth instead of lying to her.
Others might say that he should just want to date the girl and forget all about the fish. They probably think this because it’s a girl and she’s every guys dream. Because in the text it says “Eric said I have the figure to be a model.” This evidence might be why people think he should forget about the fish and go for the girl.
The Narrator should have
tried to get the girl because if he can date Sheila Mant then the guys would be jealous because even Eric said “She had the figure to be a model.” So that proves the guys would be jealous of him dating her. He could of taught her to fish and got her to like it so he could have his hobby that he loves and her. She only did it once and maybe if she did it again she would learn to grow on it and learn to like it.
You should believe me about this because I read this story not to long ago so it’s still fresh in my memory. Also I had quotes and page numbers straight from the story. Finally that is how I got to tell you about how the narrator should of chosen the fish and still tried to the girl.
