Classic Muscle

Have you ever thought what your favorite cars were? This essay will discuss the five greatest muscle cars. Cars such as the excellent 1970 Ford Mustang GT, 1969 Chevy Camaro SS, 1969 Pontiac GTO, 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, and the 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS all have the brutal simplicity of the hardcore muscle cars.

To begin the 1970 Ford Mustang GT came with and endless amount of options such as 8 different engine options ranging from 250 V-6 with 155HP to the monstrous Boss 429 which made upwards of 500 HP. The most sought after Mustang GT is the Hardtop 4 speed manual with the Boss 429. But the most valuable one is the Convertible with the 4-speed manual only 789 were produced.

Next is the 1969 Chevy Camaro SS which was a fierce competitor to the Mustang GT. The Camaro came with 8 different engines including the package engines. The smallest was a 350 V-8 and the biggest was the Yenko ZL-1 which was a 7-liter V-8 that produced over 500 HP. This was also the rarest Camaro only 69 Yenko ZL-1’s were produced and now would cost upwards of $250,000.

The third candidate is the 1969 Pontiac GTO which was one of the most powerful cars at that time. These cars came standard with 400 cbi (Cubic Inch) V-8 that made 350 HP. You could also special order GTO’s with the RA-3 or RA-4 (RA – RAM Air). The RA-3 could make a 366 HP but the RA-4 could produce 370 HP these cars were performance machines and helped the car reach 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds. The GTO could also be ordered with a package called the Judge. This package made the GTO faster but also gave it an exterior personality by adding a spoiler and decals. You still had to order the RA-4 for the package.

The fourth car is the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T which is one of the most sought after cars still. The Dodge Charger changed from 68 to 69 by adding a grille divider and new taillights. It also came with a vinyl top option and a sleeker more appealing body and many new paint choices. The Charger also came with 8 different engines. Ranging from the 225 inline 6 to the powerhouse the 426 V-8 Hemi. The 225 only produced about 145 HP while the Hemi produced around 425 HP. This greatly affected the top speed because the car weighed in around 3800 pounds. The R/T package gave the Charger a new suspension and heavy duty shocks and anti sway bar which greatly improved the handling of the giant.

The fifth and final car is the 69 Chevy Chevelle SS which is probably the most common muscle car known. The Chevelle was greatly similar to the Chevy Malibu which also came with a SS package. These two cars were often confused with each other. Three engines were offered with the SS package of the Chevelle. These were the 396, 402, and L72 427. The 396 was offered so it could produce 325, 350, and 375HP. While the 427 could produce 425HP and made the Chevelle have a 0 to 60 time of 6.5 seconds. This car was the second fastest muscle car at that time.

In conclusion all these cars are idols of car fanatics and kids alike. The brute power and the bulky look gave them a personality no other car could match. If you decide you want a muscle car I would highly recommend one of these monsters.

1. Don’t skip class
2. Do your work all of it!
3. People despise you because you’re a freshman
4. Participate in after school activities
5. DO ALL OF YOUR BLOGS!
6. Do all of your worksheets at the beginning of the marking period for English

These are some key things you need to get through 9th grade.Good Luck!

Check YES! Juliet

Sing It Out

Some point in your life you have probably heard of Romeo and Juliet. There are many songs referring to them and their story. The song I chose is “Check Yes Juliet” by We The Kings. This Song has many references to the story.

The first example is the line” I’ll keep tossing rocks at your window; There’s no turning back for us tonight”. This line is talking about Romeo at Juliet’s balcony at night trying to get her attention. This line depicts a very important part of the story.

I think this song gives accurate allusions of Romeo and Juliet. It tells about them at her balcony at night and him talking to her. In the passage this is exactly how this happens. The song depicts the story well.

I believe that this song has a good portrayal of Romeo and Juliet. It has many lyrics to back me up. If you agree write about this song too.

VRoom,Putt,Putt. This was the sound the For Model T made. This was a important part of american history. This month in car history Henry ford starts the first mass production line for automobiles. This took the time of building cars from twelve hours to two hours and thirty minutes. This was an important part of car history. That is because the Ford Model T was the first american car to ever be mass produced.

He started mass producing the Ford Model T in 1908. This car was to be a inexpensive family car that was sturdy enough to on rough roads. He wanted everyone to be able to afford a car. Ford knew in order to lower the price of his cars he would have to find a way to build them more efficiently. The Model T had a unique pedal mechanism that consisted of three pedals. The middle pedal was for the gas the right pedal was for clutch and the left one was brake. In February of 1914 Ford added a mechanized belt that traveled at six feet per second.

This made the cars faster than they were previously. This is what happen in the month of December in the early 1900’s.

3rd person time!

3rd person omniscient- A tire hub flies a car and rolls downs the street thinking, “I hope I don’t hit anything” he kept rolling until he saw a pole.
The pole thought to himself, “please don’t let that tire hub hit me.”
The tire hub expected impact with the pole but barely missed and both thought, “whew that was close.”

3rd person limited omniscient – A tire hub flies off a car and rolls toward a pole thinking, “I hope I don’t hit him he seems valuable”.
The tire hub wondered what the pole thought at this moment. The tire hub barely missed the pole and thought, “good thing I didn’t hit him.”

3rd person dramatic – A tire hub flies off a car and rolls toward a valuable pole. The tire hub rolled past the pole. It kept rolling while pole stay in one spot.

November Freewrite

VRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM! There are two very important car history facts for this month. One is Craig Breedlove set a new land speed record. Also George Selden patented the gas-powered car. On November 15, 1965 Craig Breedlove set a land speed record of 600.601 MPH in a $250,000 car that used a Navy surplus engine to power it. Breedlove also on the same day broke another record for a 3 wheel land speed record with a small version of the big car.

George Selden patented the gas powered car on November 5, 1895. The car was a two cylinder internal combustion engine car. It turns out he copied a car he saw at a convention in 1872. The ALAM never found out about this so they said nobody could make a gas-powered car without permission from Selden or they would be sued. In 1903 Henry Ford came out with the model T so Selden went out of business by 1904. This month was an important month in car history.

Brody B

Science

Mr. Woolcock

10/5/11

In science we are making mousetrap racers I am using a 1foot and 5 inch by 5 inch by 1 inch piece of wood that narrows down to 3 inches in the front. My car with have small plastic tires in the front for wheels that have a 3 cm diameter. In the back of the car I will have 3 inch wide model car tires. I will use a piece of copper to extend the length of the mousetraps snapper bar for better distance and less force. I will also have a spoiler add on to give it better aerodynamics. Another part of my racer with be the guide wheels to help get the car around the corner. There will be two 4 ½ inch CD’s on dowel rods that are going to be out on two pieces of 3inch by 1inch plywood coming out from the right side of the car. At the front there will be two smaller CD’s that are approximately 2 ½ inches in diameter for front guide wheels. They also will be on dowel rods glued between two pieces of s inch by 1 in plywood. The final material I will use is fishing line to attach to the extended snapper bar that also will wrap around the axles that will be made of metal. Those are the materials I will be using.

I am going to assemble my car by first taking the piece of wood and cutting it so that it narrows down from 5 inches to 3 inches. After that I will hot glue the mouse trap on to the wood near the center. Before that I will wield the copper extension on the snapper bar. Next I will use eye bolts to hold my custom built axles in place. The next thing I will do is place the wheels on the axles after putting spacers on to keep the axle from sliding around. My next step will be to make a spoiler out of metal that I will attach to the rear of the racer. I will attach it with either hot glue or small screws.

Next I will cut a small hole near the rear of the car to put the fishing line through that will attach to the axle. Next I will have to attach the four pieces of 3 by 1 inch plywood to the side of the car with hot glue. The next thing I will have to do is hot glue the dowel rod in place between the two pieces of plywood. Then do the same thing to the front of the car with the smaller CD’s. That is how I plan to build my car. I also might make a steering system if I have available time.

I plan on negotiating the 90 degree turn by making a self guiding system of wheels that will roll along the wall. I will need to set my car along the wall at the starting line so the wall can help guide my car along the wall. By making the discs free moving I will be using rolling friction to help me along the wall. My extended arm will give me more distance to help me get enough speed to get around the corner because without enough speed my car wouldn’t be able to get around the turn. I also added the spoiler to give me better aerodynamics for more speed to help get around the turn. I added the front guide wheels to help if the car goes into the other wall to help turn it straight again. That is how I plan to get around the turn.

One of the many science concepts used in my mousetrap racer is friction. It plays a main factor in my mousetrap racer. There is 3 main types of friction used in a mousetrap racer static, rolling, and drag. Static friction helps the wheels of the car hold on to the surface it goes over. Static friction also helps the wheels so they don’t slip on the surface. When using my mousetrap racer I will be using rolling friction while my wheels are spinning along the ground and are gradually slowing down thanks to rolling friction and some static friction. I will also be using rolling friction when my guide wheels are going along the wall as they roll they lose momentum because of rolling friction.

The last type of friction involved is drag which is the air going against my racer. Drag slows my whole car by pushing against it. The faster my car goes the more energy I need to push against the airflow. Drag is usually a bad type of friction but it could help me by slowing my car down by the end so it stops in the finishing area. That is how friction is a very important part of my mousetrap racer.

FREEBIRD!!!!

September Freewrite.

This month I'm going to talk about cars. I love cars. I know how to fix them I know the parts of them and I can usally tell you what car it is if you show me a picture of one.

The first American car was made by Henry Ford which was the Ford Model A which was also the first car to run a a new substance called gas. It was very complicated for the first automobile to run on gas also it had a clutch and a shifting lever. There was a gas tank above the back right  wheel arch. That way it wouldn't get damaged by flying debris.

I know this information from my uncle and reading books and articles in magazines. All and all the Ford Model A was a good start to gas ran automobile.

A Day to Remember

A Visual Representation of me              Hi. My name is Brody I like to play drums. The first picture I have is of something i like it is the band A Day to Remember. A book i had a good memory of reading is  the book Harris and Me. I use to read this book almost everyday and my mom liked reading it to me when I was younger.  The characteristic of me is a sleeping monkey cause I love to sleep. The monkey is just a bonus to me cause I love monkeys. My last picture is of anything i wanted it to be and I chose a throwing star. Because I love to throw them in my free time. The quote i chose is by Travis Pastrana " I would rather try than fail ,rather than not try at all." That quote is very inspirering to me because I like to try stuff and fail rather than not to them at all. Thank you for reading my representation of me.
