What do you think your ninth grade year will be like? Are you looking forward to it or are you dreading it? What do you expect it to be?
Ninth grade was not what I expected. It wasn't what I expected because I thought the year would be a lot harder than it was. I expected it to be a lot tougher because I thought that the teachers would make it boring. I also thought they would teach a lot of boring things and we wouldn't get to do anything fun at all. It turns out that all of the ninth grade teachers are trying to make the year fun for us. They schedule a lot of things that kids can do to make the year better and more enjoyable.
Some of the teachers don't do as many fun things as the others. I am going to write about some of the fun things that we did during the year and the classes and teachers that schedule these activities. One of the teachers that does the most activities is Mrs. Smith the Spanish teacher. She does things like group Pinatas, fried ice cream and Salsa. We got to go out on the track and break the pinatas after we made them. The salsa and fried ice cream we got to eat after she made it.
Miss Transue and Mr. Woolcock had a fun activity that the kids could do in the grade. You had to make an essay on a Science related topic for English and then you had to make a poster on it for Science. Then you got to take your poster to the gym and do a mini science fair for the fifth and sixth graders. This project was fun to do because you got to share some of the knowledge that you got from your research with the fifth and sixth graders.
Mr. Hein's class is fun everyday and it is enjoyable because he is one of those teachers who is easy to get along with. He is really funny if you play along with him. He makes the class fun and he also tries to do some projects to help out and make the class more fun and enjoyable.
This is what I thought of my ninth grade year and how it surprised me. It was not what I expected because of how nice the teachers are. Also the fact that they try to make the year better for you and easier to be there for the one hundred and eighty days that you are in school.

Dear Freshy

Freshmen of 2012 if you are dreading ninth grade then I am here to tell you that you have nothing to fear because ninth grade is pretty easy. As long as you do some of the things I am going to tell you in this blog.

If you want to pass all of your classes here is what you have to do. In order to pass Miss Transue's class you have to get all of your blogs done on time. If you turn them in late you don’t get the full credit that you need and that will hurt you in the long run. The book packets that she assigns you have to be in on time because they are worth the most points.
If you want to pass Mrs. Farr's class all you have to do is pay attention in class and take the notes. She gives you everything you need to pass the tests and do the worksheets. If you want to pass Mr. Bart's class you have to study hard for all of his tests because his class is hard to pass.
In Mr. Hein's class you have to take the notes and pay attention but his class is one of the more fun and easier classes to pass. If you are trying to pass Mr. Woolcock's class, you need to take all of the notes and pay attention in class and do good on all of the tests. He doesn't have to many homework assignments so the only way to really get points is to do good on the tests.

If you do all of the things that I have said in this blog you should pass ninth grade and have a fun year doing so. All of the teachers are good and easy to get along with. G
ood luck to all of you new Freshmen and I hope you have a fun and good year and pass with these tips that I have given you.

April Fools

April freewrite

April is known for many things. I think that April Fools Day is the best part of April because it is so fun. There are many old April fools jokes that you can say like your shoe is untied. Over the years there has been many more that have been made that are really good too.

Some of the jokes that people play on this day are a little immature but are funny as long as you do them on the right people. Also some of the jokes that people do can hurt people and are only funny for the person that does them.

I think that April fools day should be about fun for everyone and not just for the person playing the joke. I think that people should play the jokes that are funny but do not hurt other people in the process. There is many things that you can buy to help in April fools jokes. Like the fake chicken or the snakes in the nut can.

All of the branches of the U.S. army are good and have many brave soldiers in them but i think the marines are the best and this is why.I think that Marines are the best branch of the military. Because they are the first ones there and they are the best trained in the military. If we have a mission that needs to be done that cannot be done by regular soldiers, they bring in the Marines to do the job.

If the military is confronted with a hard operation, they send in the Marines. Unless they need a small force then they call in the Navy Seals. I still say that the Marines are the best because when they hit they hit hard and they leave no one left which is their job.

I also say that the Marines are the best because they are the best trained. Some of the training that they do is hard enough to kill you if you are not physically and mentally strong enough. Therefore only the best of the best become Marines and that is why I think that the Marines is the best branch of the military.

They also have alot of branches in the marines like the snipers and the regular infantry soldiers. I think that this is important because they have the best snipers in the world and their infantry men have to be the best of the best.

Some of the shots that the snipers have to do to become a marine sniper are unbelieveable shots. And some of the training that the infantry men have to do is enough to kill a man. Lastly, to become a marine the men have to go through some of the hardest training in some of the academies that they have for our military.

constructed response

a Marxist would critisize the book The Hunger Games

They would criticize this book because in this book the upper class people are making the lower class people compete in a death match and are watching it on televisions and laughing about it. A Marxist would criticize this because it should The wealthy and the higher class being better than the lower class people.

Another reason they would criticize this is because the rich people make the contestants do interviews and if they like you or think you should win more than others they will send you things like water or food or weapons. Only if you deprive yourself and do good in the interview.

A marxist would criticize the book The Hunger Games. Because the rich people are making the poor people do things that they do not want to do.

Will and Mr. Halloway
If a wicked carnival came to your home town you would think that it would not help anything but I think that it helped will And his dad’s relationship grow. In the book Something wicked this way comes by Ray Bradbury Will and his dad have a growing relationship with each other because. Will is telling his father more things and he is also showing him more things and is letting him in on more things.
Will also trusts his dad with more things since the carnival came to town because on page 128 his dad asked him “you don’t stay out to long-? And Will trusted his dad and told “this week was the very first time after midnight”. And on page 129 “Dad!” “You aint got the stuff!” Who says!? Cried dad’s mouth, silently. And on page 137 his dad said “I’ll be all right, Will.” And then will said “anything I can do say or do to make you happy, I would.” But you can also say that they didn’t talk when will came into the house during chapter 8 but that was because mr. Halloway was in a bad mood.
Will is showing him more things like the rungs on the side of his house like it says in chapter 27. “Jim nodded and took them over to fumble among the cluster of thick moss and leaves on the side of the house until they found the iron rungs they had secretly nailed and placed to make a hidden ladder up to their room”. This shows that will trusts his dad enough to show him something that Jim and Will set up in private to start with. And on page 203 were they talk about the carnival and if it is evil or if the devil is living there and taking people’s souls. Also they are talking on page 206 and they say they are going to hide in the library. Although it also says that they do not talk in the beginning but it also is because Mr. Halloway is not as young as he once was and cannot do what he used to be able to do.
Will is going to try and tell his dad more about his life because on page 132 he says. “In a couple days, dad. I’ll tell you everything. I swear. Moms honor.” He also shows it on page 138 “promise, Dad?” “Why don’t you want me to go there, Will?” “That’s one of the thing I’ll tell tomorrow or next week or next year. You got to trust me, Dad.” “I do, son.” Dad took his hand. “It’s a promise.” And on page 134 “Dad am I a good person?” “I think so, yes.” I think he really trusts his dad. Although will and his dad didn’t talk during the bullet trick the only reason he didn’t was because he was under the witches spell.
In conclusion this is how Will and his dad relationship have changed throughout the story because will is trying to tell his dad more and show him more and trust him more.

I think that soldiers are amazing and have huge guts to go to another country and fight against other men and risk your life for other Americans. I think that they should be praised for doing what they do even more than they already are. Soldiers are people who have risked their lives to help other Americans and gain America’s freedom and are still risking it today.

Veterans are people who have risked their life in previous wars such as the Vietnam War or World War Two for the lives of others. These people are just ordinary men and women who decided that they would go to a foreign country and fight for Americas freedom.

I believe that these men and women should be praised for what they have done more than once or twice a year. I believe that they should be praised more than they are because they are what made America the free country that it is today.

The Djinn Who Lives Between Night and Day

If your friend does something for one reason does that mean that you have to do it for the same reason? Unlike Tayab Al-faq is a good Djinn because when tayab was telling his story about sending the woman away for fun al-faq didn’t give an answer of happiness he just let him keep going, also when he sent the dad to the ocean he was helping the dad by sending him there.

I think that when Tayab was telling his story about sending the woman to the sea just so he could have fun and make the woman miserable because he couldn't bring the children back to life. When Tayab Was telling the story he gave no answer but nodded for Tayab to continue He said "go on" also but he never smiled or laughed at what Tayab had did. Also When Tayab was telling about the dad all alone he said “some grief” so that means that he was thinking about the dad and him being alone.

You could argue that when Al-faq made the dad go to the sea it was for his own joy because Tayab had done it. But I think that he did it to help the dad because when the dad got there he named all of the kids and the mom as a shooting star that way the dad would feel better. Also when they got there he went and got the nearby towns people and asked them to bring the dad food for he was a holy man.

Also I think that Al-faq was helping the dad because. He was trying to make the dad feel better and he also would let the dad say thank you he said "no, do not bless me, I am not worthy" Plus he had got the towns People to care for him and also at the end of the story it said Al-faq who perhaps is a faithful Djinn and perhaps not returned to the crack between night and day.

This is why I think that Al-faq is a good Djinn and not a bad Djinn like Tayab. Because He never approved of Tayabs story and after he heard it he traveled to the dad’s house to go make him feel better by sending him to the sea and telling him his family was okay.

A fresh beggining

Article posted October 31, 2011 at 02:18 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 122

You would think that when you get in the higher grades it would get harder. I found out that 7th grade was the hardest and 9th is the easiest so far. It is easy because all you have to do to pass most of the tests is pay attention in class and you should pass the tests.

If you are in some classes such as Civics or Health all you have to do to pass the tests is pay attention and do the essays that he assigns. If you are in a class such as Science, Algebra or Spanish you have to pay attention take good notes and study for the tests. If you are a class like English or writing skills you have to be organized and not get behind on your blogs or your book chapters.

All the classes are a litle hard but the teachers are all good and easy to get along with if you have your homework done and are paying attention in class. If you have a subject that you know you are good at and you know you can pass then you may need to spend more time studying on the classes that you aren't as good in. if you aren't as good at a subject and you need help go see the teacher or go to peer tutoring. If you aren't done with some work or behind then you should go to homework club after school. This is what I have learned form my couple months in school.

the Djinn who lives between night and day

Article posted October 25, 2011 at 10:27 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 916

The theme for the Djinn who lives between night and day is Just because someone else is doing something else doesn't mean you have to.

I think this is the main theme for this because when al-faq hears what tayab did he tries to help the old man by telling him to go to the edge of the sea and he makes him happy because the man thinks that his wife and children are alive again.

This portrays to life because if your friend is starting something and you know it isn't good but it is cool doesn't mean that you need to do it because it isn't good.

Books are way better than a movie

Imagine you are going to the movie theater. You get there and get your popcorn and you get to the theater and the movie has been delayed due to malfunctions. If you would have stayed home and just read it you could have made popcorn and read the book with no delays. Books are better than movies because you create your own character, also you imagine your own setting, and you get more detail.

Living in a rural area is better than an urban area

Would you rather your child get jumped on the way to school? Or enjoy the bus ride safely? If your child was living in a rural area he would not get jumped on the way to school. The crime rate in a urban area is higher than in an rural area, also in a rural area there is more freedom, another good thing about a rural area is you don't have to worry about the slow moving traffic.

My Vacation to Maine

September Free Write

My name is Mark and I went to Maine this summer. I went to Maine with my grandfather and my Grandmother and my sister, we went to go see the sights. When we got there we checked into our hotel and went to dinner. The next day when we woke up we wen and saw one of the lighthouses in Maine and that lighthouse was actually authorized to be built by George Washington.

After we got done with that we went and had some lobster, that was the first time I had ever had lobster and it was pretty good. When we left to go back to the hotel we found that we could go whale watching the next day.

When we woke up the next day we got ready and went and had breakfast and went to the whale watching site. When we got there we found out that a couple of teenagers had used thier boat for a party the night before and they had to clean it so we waited a half an hour before we could go. When we did get out there about twelve miles from the cost we hadn't seen a thing, so the captain of the ship told us that we were just going to coast along till we saw something.

After and hour of not seeing a thing he said that we had to go back to shore but we would continue too look. After about ten minutes we saw the tail of a whale so the captain shut off the engines and we just sat there and watched the whale for about twenty minutes. Then after that we went and headed back to shore. When we went back we had more seafood for dinner that was good to and I found out I like clams. The next day we went to the beach the beach was real nice in Maine and we had a lot of fun. after we got done we went to a seafood buffet and they had a lot of good seafood and I found out I like haddock. after that day tough we had to go home and I has to suffer another seven hour car ride with my sister again.

A Visual Representation of me

Hi my name is Mark and I will be telling you about myself and my blog. My quotation is "Let the word go forth from this time and place,  to friend and foe alike, that that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans. " This quote was said by John F. Kennedy in his inagural address. I think this is important because it kind of relates to school because you keep moving up each year. I have a picture of the mocking jay pin because the hunger games is my favorite book. I have the holy bible because I am kind of religius and go to church. I have a picture of the theory of a deadman CD cover because I like their music and listen to it all the time. My Fourth picture is a picture I took in Virginia of a sunset and I put it there because I like to take pictures whenever I go someplace in a different state. Thank you for listening to my Visual Representation of me.
