Dear freshy letter
Dear freshy,
I’m sure you’ve been told how boring Freshmen year is, but it’s not. Ninth grade is all new. You have lunch later, more exciting field day, pep rallies and homecoming. This year for you guys is your year for a FRESH start. You also get a break between you hour period. There should only be two goals for you this year, keep your grades up and have as much fun as possible.
There are only a couple downfalls of being a Freshmen but not too many. One thing is that you are the youngest and the newest in high school. Another problem is that you are nailed with homework so keep up to date on it. The final problem is that the teachers expect a little more from you than your past years. Don’t let those few things bum out your ninth grade year.
Sincerely,
Merrick

Sing it Out
Taylor Swift plus Romeo and Juliet equals awesome. Think about it the classic play and the popular country star, it’s amazing. In her song, “Love Story”, when she talks about Juliet, is that the same Juliet as in the play? Let’s find out.
The song says "Stay away from Juliet" and Romeo didn’t in the story or in the song. He came back for her in both the song and play. I think the song did a pretty good job depicting Romeo. The rest of the song pretty much refers to how Juliet (Taylor Swift) feels about Romeo having to go away. “Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel.” That line is true because when Romeo had to leave in the play, Juliet’s parent for forcing her to marry and love Paris. Again, the lyrics depicted Juliet positively.
Now, the depiction of the characters where accurate but the overall plot between the play and the song were completely wrong. In the song Juliet waited for Romeo to come back and when he did then they married. In the play they got married then he had to leave. Another BIG thing the song left out was that Juliet died in the play but not in the song. Overall the plot depiction was incorrect.
Even though Romeo and Juliet with Taylor Swift sounds amazing, the song is all wrong. I love the play. I love the song. Together it’s just wrong.

Sand, water, and towels. Sounds like a day at the beach to me! The beach is in my top ten lists of places to be. Summer is almost here and for now I'm going to about what I want to do there and what I have done there. When I'm at the beach what we usually do is go swimming, build sand castles, play foot ball, and my favorite, boogey boarding. The beach is a perfect place for people to have family time and fun. Another good thing about the beach is that it's free, so fun time can also be a cheap time. I like the beach so much that if it were a person I would marry it. I wish I could own a beach house for many reasons. I could wake up in the morning and feel the ocean breeze, watch the waves, and see the annoying seagles.
One time when I was at the beach there were so many seagles I got annoyed. When the seagles would leave I decided to chase them away but then there was a twist, a couple of them started to chase me! Mom just happened to be recording it and she couldn’t stop laughing. Another thing that I've done was watch midget crabs. I was at the Gulf of Mexico and we went by some rocks and if you were really quiet you could see the tiny crabs come out of the holes. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Some people might say that the beach is a horrible place because the sand gets into places, there’s no shade, and it’s too boring. Those are people who grew up as a boring stick in the mud. People who dislike the beach should stick to their chess and cleaning. I believe everyone should go to the beach as soon as they can and have a boatload of fun!

ERRRRRR! Times up! today is Valentine's Day! This poem explains why I dislike Valentine's Day
Roses are red violets are blue
I dislike Valentine’s Day how about you?
All the shopping carts,
Filled with sappy hearts.
The chocolate is tasty
But this holiday’s hasty.
Roses smell good
But they belong in the woods.
It’s either corny cards,
Or disregards.
Those last minute shoppers,
Prove they are just hoppers.
Why stand in line,
It’s just a waste of time.
No need to get gussied up
And end up stuck.
It’s just like any day
So you don’t have to say…
I love you
Even though I do.

reprsentin'
Have you ever been eating a donut and compared it to one of your friends? I haven’t but I’m thinking about it now. These donuts are going to describe some of my friends.
The first donut is a jelly filled donut and it represents Megyn. It shows that Megyn has secrets and is mysterious. The second donut is a donut with colored sprinkles to show how much fun Bre is. My third donut shows Chris. Chris is a plain donut because he acts normal. The final donut and friend combination is a lemon donut and Emily. Emily is a lemon donut because she has blond hair and personality (she’s easily confused).
Now you know the personalities of my friends expressed through donuts. I hope it was delicious.

CONSTRUCTION THEORY – deconstruction
A deconstructionist would celebrate the book “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein.
One reason someone would celebrate this story is because the tree is a symbol. The tree represents kindness. It gives off what it can until it can't anymore. It implies that you should be willing to help others with the skills you have. Helping others shows that your kind.
Another reason how people would celebrate this story is through friendship. The boy grew up with that tree and never forgot about it. The boy loved the tree and the tree loved it back. Therefore friendship is forever.
In conclusion, a deconstructionist would celebrate the book for the symbolism of “The Giving Tree”.

Personalities of Jim Nightshade
Evil? No. Troublesome? Yes. Just because you’re troublesome does not mean your evil. Jim Nightshade is stereotyped as evil but he is just careless, brave, and friendly.
Jim is careless because he did not care if his house burnt down, he went to the theater, and snuck out at night. The lightning rod salesmen predicted that Jim’ s house would get struck by lightning and burn down, he suggested that Jim should put up a rod. Jim did not believe him and refused to put up the rod. Will replied “Fun! You crazy? I’ll get a ladder! You the hammer, some nails, and wire.” (Bradbury 10). Will was being precautious and Jim didn’t care. Another way that Jim is careless is that he went to the “theater” and did not care if everyone in there saw him. “That peculiar stage where people, all unknowing, flourished shirts above their heads, let fall clothes to the rug…” (Bradbury 29). Finally the last reason how Jim is careless is that he sneaks out. “Fumble among the clusters of thick moss and leaves on the side of the house until they found the iron rungs they had secretly nailed and placed to make a hidden ladder up to Jim’s room.” (Bradbury 129). That proves that he does sneak out. A person who would not agree with me would say Jim does care. They would back it up by saying Jim instantly cleaned the roof after the dust witch painted it. However Jim he did not care if his house was to burn down. That is proof how Jim is careless.
One more personality that Jim has is that he is brave. He is brave because he lied to the police, yelled at his friend, and snuck out. Since lying to the police is against the law it takes a lot of guts to do it, in this case Jim did. “I know you, you’re not acting guilty. You didn’t steal anything” (Bradbury 131). That proves that Jim did lie to police. Another way that Jim is brave is for yelling at your best friend which is never a good thing. Jim screamed “When I’m older, darn it, older!” (Bradbury 97). They were screaming about why Jim snuck out in the middle of the night. The final reason how Jim is brave is that he snuck out. “A tiny shadow scanned the town, searching for but not finding Jim.” (Bradbury 98). This says that they looked for Jim but could not find him. Some people do not think that he is brave and would say, Jim ran when “Robert” screamed for the police. Most people would if they knew what the caller was going to say. That’s how Jim is brave.
The final personality that Jim has is friendly. Jim shows his friendliness by not hitting back after Will punched him, cleaned the roof so that neither of them would get in trouble, and went along with Miss Foley’s plan. “Will crushed the wind out of Jim, lay heavy on him, fisting his mouth tight.” (Bradbury 98). Throughout that whole paragraph Jim never hit Will back. Secondly they cleaned the roof so the two of them would not get in trouble. “They showered the roof” (Bradbury 154). That little bit shows true friendship, working together and keeping each other safe. The final reason how Jim is friendly is that he lied to help Miss Foley. When she called the police and said that they robbed her he admitted to it. Jim was being friendly to a lady in his neighborhood which is being neighborly. “Because Miss Foley – who knows why? – wants us guilty.” (Bradbury 131). People probably think Jim is the worst kid on Earth and would say he left Will to put up the lightning rod alone. He did not, the salesmen helped him and Jim did not believe the salesmen so he did not think there was any need to help.
Jim is not an evil kid he is careless, brave, friendly. To Will, Jim is his everything plus his best friend.
