A Face in a Car Driving Past
September Free Write
You don't know me nor will you ever know me, as I drive by your house unsatisfied with my life. This you won't know because I’m just that face that stared intently at you as I drove past. I saw you staring back -- dark eyes, distantly telling me stories of misery and happiness. Yes, I wish I had hit that car in front of me, so I’d have a reason to get out and ask you your name, but I didn't because that’s wrong. Your beautiful eyes could be full of lies and I could be broken because love isn't real and tomorrow will show you disappeared from my life. Slip from my grasp like everyone and everything else I loved... I am alone, you know? Sucked into a daily ritual that I hate full of ghosts and people who won't even walk my direction anymore --
Unsatisfied can't even being to explain my life, but you wouldn't know because all I am is a face in a car driving past… to think I might have been able to fall in love with you.
