Just Being Used

Decisions, have you ever had to make an important decision. Teenagers make decisions about relationships all the time. In the story “The Bass, the River, and Shelia Mant” by W. D. Wetherell the narrator should have chosen the bass because Shelia is just using him. As a teenager boy I know what the narrator is feeling.

In this story the narrator loves to fish. The narrator fishes all the time at the river. Even when he wasn’t fishing he was prepared in case he did go fishing. He also practice fishing on his dog to see how strong the reel drag was. He would stand in his driveway and practice casting.

Others would say the narrator should have chosen Shelia over the bass because he would probably never get a chance being with her again. The narrator was lucky he got her to come with him in the first place. However catching that fish is also a once in a life time chance.

Sheila is a self centered girl. She would ignore the narrator a couple times. When she talks it’s mostly about herself all the time. Shelia just likes to have all the attention all the time.

What important decisions have you made in your life? Teens always make different decisions all the time about relationships. In the story “The Bass, the River, and Shelia Mant” by W. D. Wetherell the narrator chose the Sheila over the bass and that was the wrong decision to make.
