Oh yes!!! My group’s mouse trap racer was a complete success. Even though it did have its flaws, it still worked like a charm. My group’s mouse trap racer almost made it to the finish on its third run, but it did need to positioned just right to make it as far as it did. I would say that I am very proud of the mouse trap racer that my group had made.



 

The original design that my group and I came up with was for the racer to have rounded off corners and also to have one front wheel, two wheels that have good traction as the back wheels, and two side wheels positioned horizontally on each sides of the racer so if the racer were to hit the wall the side wheels would roll along the wall. Although that was the original design, the side wheels had made the design of the car to heavy and would have never even made it out of the starting area with just a lever arm and string. So we modified our design by removing the side wheels, swapping the back wheels that got some traction with cd's because they also weighed the racer down so it wouldn’t move, and we added another wheel to the front of the racer so it would balance out.



 

The best parts of the racer that my group built was how smooth it ran, when we were able to get it to run. Also, the third run that we did, it almost made it into the finish area. The worst parts about our racer would have to be, that at least one of the wheels would fall off occasionally. Also the worst of all would have to be the first and second run that we did, each time our racer would hit the corner of the track instead of going around the turn, but that was only because it was not positioned in the right spot in the starting area. If I could do this project again I would change the design of the frame of the racer to be smaller so it would be light weight and go faster. Also I would add some light weight side wheels (cd's) on the side of the racer.

I would probably give my self at least an 85% because, it did take my group until race day to finally get our design right. Also we didn’t get the first two runs didn’t go as planned. That is all the best and worst of my groups mouse trap racer and the design that we had used. I had learned that the friction that is needed to make a mouse trap racer move is mostly made by the power of the string spinning the axle making the wheels spin to that the racer can move.

Colin (Shorty) The World’s Tallest Midget!!!

 

Hey my name is Colin better known as the world’s tallest midget named Shorty!!! Just a short (ha-ha) description of me, I love to play Xbox 360, hang out with my friends, and listen to music. Some of my favorite bands/artists are AC/DC, Avenged Sevenfold, Kiss, Eminem, Green Day, Daughtry, etc. My friends came up with my nickname Shorty. It’s really ironic because I am about 6'4"!!! Also my favorite book would have to be Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta. Of course you know about my title already but I do have a picture of it. Next I like to watch Family Guy on TV. My favorite character besides Stewie would have to be Quagmire. I also have a picture of my nickname if you could imagine that. My nickname “Shorty” has its own picture!!!!
