Dear Freshy,
Hello fellow eighth graders! You are now in ninth grade and I thought it would be nice to give you some advice. First thing, meet your deadlines. If something is due and you choose not to do it points will be deducted. In Miss Transue’s class she gives you an initial due date and that means you have to turn in partial work for points. It’s worth it! Second, your class will have changed a lot over the summer. The people you thought you knew might not be the same. The drama is unbelievable. It will be really different and take some time to get you to but you will be fine. Third, you will have electives this year, which means you may not have any study halls. I was one of these people. I had a full schedule but not having study halls wasn’t a bad thing. My day actually went a little bit faster. Fourth, don’t be afraid to ask questions! In previous years you might have felt stupid or weird asking the teachers questions on your work but trust me, it’s a blessing to have them. Take advantage!
In conclusion, let your freshman year be a blast and don’t let memories slip away from you. Have fun!
Sincerely,
Emily Forba

For years the tale of Romeo and Juliet has been a well studied piece of literature. It has been referenced in many stories, poems, and even songs. Their strong love has broken through lots of people’s emotions and has become a way of expressing their love. The song “Check yes Juliet” by We The Kings has used the allusion of Romeo and Juliet not in a very effective way.
The song “Check yes Juliet” depicts a guy who is love with a girl and is trying to get her attention by showing her affection. The song says " Rain is falling down on the sidewalk I won't go untill you come outside." The guy in the story is pretty much telling her that he will stay in the rain waiting for her even if it takes forever.
This song is not very accurate to the story because we do not know anything about the girl. Her name is Juliet and thats pretty much it. We know that they guy is deeply in love with her but after that, we have not a clue who she is. The song " Check Yes Juliet" is not accurate to the story Romeo and Juliet.
The Song "Check Yes Juliet" was a song about a guy falling in love with the girl of his dreams but didn't correctly potray the allusion of the story Romeo and Juliet.

Sometimes people have inside jokes with their friends. Some you may not understand and some that aren’t funny at all. My good friend Kenzie and I have a day called random Tuesday.
This so called inside joke started at the beginning of the year. Kenzie is a very enthused person and she smiles all the time! One day she was feeling a bit under the weather and I wanted to cheer her up. I thought of one of the most random things and just said it. A smile appeared upon her face and a faint giggle fell out. I was glad I could accomplish happiness.
Even since that day we plan for random Tuesday. 2nd period, in science class, is when we see each other in the morning. That is our reminder on Tuesday that it’s random Tuesday. We exchange notebooks to draw and write silly items on them. We have got many, many laughs out of this nonsense day and it has made our friendship that much weirder. Some of our random lines consists of bunny tongues, Peta Petagrue, purple toes, and P.S.
Next time you hear about an inside joke or make up your own, think of this one and laugh. Even try ours out; I guarantee you will have lots of fun!

The Best part of Christmas!
The best part of Christmas is baking cookies! I always know when the holidays are near because my mom and I start to bake cookies. Christmas cookies are a holiday tradition. If nobody baked for parties and get togethers it wouldn't be as lively. My favorite cookie is double chocolate chunk. My brother and his girlfriend brought over some double chocolate chunk cookies with chocolate icing and they were great! Thats when I got the recipe and made some of my own. My mom and I vary from Sugar Jumbles to Gingerbread Men. We have so many cookie cutters, enough to fill 4 or 5 big containers! Every year for christmas I always get my mom a new unique cookie cutter. I have fun using them and she has fun collecting them. Baking cookies brings family together and allows them to bond. It's one of the best times I could have and its a lot of fun! I would definitly reccomend doing this and inviting your friends and family to help! Enjoy! (:
Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup margarine, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
1.Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
2.In a medium bowl, cream together the margarine, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Sift in the flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder; mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips. Roll tablespoonfuls of dough into balls and place them one inch apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.
3.Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
