Sing It Out

The Truth About Romeo and Juliet Songs

In all kinds of song genres artists sing songs that have references to Romeo and Juliet. Think about itare they accurately depicting Romeo and Juliet or are they just stereotyping Romeo as a boy in love and Juliet as a girl in loveWell it’s time we took a look into one of those songs.

In the song “Juliet” by Bee Gees it says “I was a Romeo

I knew the art of romancin'”
here it says how Romeo was a smooth talker. It says how Romeo loves Juliet: “On and on ,our love is like the sun / It keeps going strong throughout eternity / I wanna love you in my life , sweet Juliet / Livin' without you in my life , oh my girl Juliet”. This song also says, “Juliet, oh,Juliet,/ This kind of lovin' you don't forget / Juliet, oh Juliet / You know you taught me to fly / You take me clear to the sky / And all the people around the / world can stand aside / Juliet , oh Juliet / This kind of lovin' you don't forget / Juliet , oh Juliet , Ah... / Juliet , oh Juliet”. These lyrics are just more that say how he loves her.

While the song does have a reference to Romeo and Juliet does it actually have an accurate connection to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet? After looking over this song I say that no it does not have a accurate connection to Romeo and Juliet. It is just basically stereotyping Romeo as a boy or man who is in love with a girl who is referred to as Juliet.

Many songs have references to Romeo and Juliet. this one does also but it is not an accurate depiction of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Dear Fabulous Freshman

Dear Fabulous Freshman,

The time has come for your Freshman year of High School to take off but, before you start your Freshman year I have some tips and advice for you. First is the teachers. We have Miss Transue, Mr. Hein, Mr. Woolcock, Mrs. Farr, and I had Mr. Bartkowski for Geometry. You should have no problem getting along with any of these fabulous teachers. All you really need to do is listen, take notes, and actually DO your work.

Miss Transue’s blogging is actually very fun once you realize that you can do your freewrites on whatever you want. Once I realized that I could blog about Glee I was so ecstatic about blogging. Mr. Hein’s class is just so hilarious and fun to be in. His class had to have been my favorite. Mr. Woolcock is funny and really easy to get along with and his class is so interesting. Mrs. Farr is just the sweetest lady I have ever met. She is so kind and her class is a very vital part of life because if it wasn’t for her class I wouldn’t know anything about all of these health risks that I know now. Last but not least is Mr. Bartkowski. He is a strange man but he is very humorous and he helps you as long as you actually try and pay attention in class.

That being said the only other vital advice I can think of for you future Freshman is to keep your locker organized and have a different notebook for each class so you don’t get mixed up like I did. I actually color coded my folders and notebooks. Each subject was a different color.

Sincerely, Brynn Denice DeLong

Why Me?

May Freewrite

Has your best friend ever said terrible things about you? Have they ever spread untrue rumors about you? Have you ever lost your best friend?

Why Me?

What made you do this?

To me of all people.

Why me?

I thought you loved me.

I thought you cared about me.

I guess I was wrong.

It’s just so shocking.

That you would say those things about me.

How could you go and say that .

I didn’t do anything to you.

I’m slowly getting over it.

Trying to forget you.

If you’re going to go and do that to me,

I don’t want any part of you.

I’ve finally seen the real you.

I just want to know one thing.

Before I say goodbye forever,

Just answer one question for me.

Why me?

Pick Up The Phone

 April Freewrite

Pick Up The Phone

Have you been blamed for something that isn’t your fault and you didn’t even do it?  Has one of your best friends or boyfriend/girlfriend blame you for everything?  Have you ever felt like the world was against you?

Why won't you believe me?

These words,

Coming out of my mouth.

I promise it's the truth.

Why would I lie to you?

You out of all people.

Just let me explain.

It's not meant to end this way.

It can’t be over.

You promised you’d never say goodbye to me.

Why would you break your promise?

I can’t go on without you.

What will make you pick up the phone?

I don’t wanna lose you,

Not like this.

I can’t fathom why you’d think I was capable of something like that.

I would never do anything like that.

SO please, if you would,

Just pick up,

The phone.

On My Way

 On My Way

It isn't going to be easy. There are going to be days where life just sucks, but you're going to get through this cause I'm going to help you and so is everyone who loves you and accepts you for who you are.” ~Kurt Hummel

“Glee” aired its winter finale on February twenty-first. It was titled On My Way and it was very good: except for the fact that it was such a humongous cliffhanger. Sebastian is finally done with his disgusting, evil, conniving ways: though for all of the wrong reasons. All because of David Karofsky’s attempted suicide.

David’s new school finds out how he’s gay and they paint disturbing words on his gym locker at school. This extremely mean boy named Nick is the one who told the whole entire school. What’s even worse is poor Dave’s Facebook which says the most terrible things about him. During this whole fiasco ‘Klaine’ (Kurt + Blaine) is in the McKinley High auditorium and my dear Blaine is singing a song to get ready for Regionals along with the whole lot of the New Directions. He sings ‘Cough Syrup’ to Kurt while Dave is just in his room getting dressed up into a suit and laying on his bed sobbing his heart out. When that commercial break arrived oh my Gaga…I could not breathe I was so scared.

Sebastian hears all about Dave and he just is so remorseful to all the names he’s called him and how he told him he could never get a guy. He has a deep realization about how mean he is and he dedicates the Warbler’s Regional performance to Dave. Plus the Warblers have a bucket for Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Charity.

I just loved the Warbler's Regional performance.  It was my favorite performance of Regionals.  I even favored their performance over New Directions which is extremely rare for me.  My favorite song had to be Glad You Came originally performed by The Wanted.  Then there was The Troubletones amazing performance of Stronger originally performed by Kelly Clarkson.  The episode was just very good all together.

Oh, Elphie!

A feminist would celebrate the New York Times Bestseller and Broadway musical: Wicked by Gregory Maguire.

First of all one reason why a feminist would celebrate Wicked because the main character is Elphaba. Miss. Elphie is an extremely inspirational, powerful females. Elphaba doesn’t care that from all of her actions everybody says that she is the ‘Wicked witch of the west’. From the moment she was born she was an outcast. Even her mother and father disgraced her. Elphie still rose up against everybody else and showed them all how even though she was a green girl she was so powerful.

Another reason why a feminist would celebrate Wicked because of the song in the musical Defying Gravity. This song is the number one song from Wicked. It is Elphaba singing about how she is done with other people treating her like dirt just because she’s green. “I’m through accepting limits cause someone says they’re so. Some things I cannot change but till I try I’ll never know.” Elphie is an idol to girls all around the world. She doesn’t care about how everybody says she can’t do this and she can’t do that. Or even how everybody even her own father and sister say she’s a disgrace and an outcast. She’s just going to what she does best. Which is Defying Gravity.

In conclusion, this is why a feminist would celebrate the New York Times Bestseller and Broadway musical: Wicked by Gregory Maguire.

I'm through accepting limits

 ''cause someone says they're so

 Some things I cannot change

But till I try, I'll never know!

Too long I've been afraid of

Losing love I guess I've lost

Well, if that's love

It comes at much too high a cost!

 I'd sooner buy

Defying gravity

Kiss me goodbye

 I'm defying gravity

And you can't pull me down

So if you care to find me

 Look to the western sky!

As someone told me lately:

"Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly!"

And if I'm flying solo

At least I'm flying free

 To those who'd ground me

Take a message back from me

 Tell them how I am

Defying gravity

I'm flying high

Defying gravity

And soon I'll match them in renown

And nobody in all of Oz

No Wizard that there is or was

Is ever gonna bring me down!

Bring me down!

Ahhh!

The Excruciating Pain of a McKinley High Slushy

Article posted February 1, 2012 at 05:35 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 649

The Excruciating Pain of a McKinley High Slushy

“One word Kurt…Michael.” On January 31st 2012 at 8:00pm Eastern Time Fox aired the Michael Jackson episode of the hit TV series Glee. I give my praise to Darren Criss and Naya Rivera for having to go through the excruciating pain of a McKinley High ‘slushy’. I am really wondering why they had Sebastian slushy Blaine with a slushy that had rock salt in it. There was really no motivation behind it. I mean I get how Sebastian said that it was meant for Kurt but did he really think that taking out Kurt’s cornea would really get him Blaine. It was very unrealistic.

Not only that-but also how all of the Warblers who were Blaine’s best friends not four months ago would just leave him there on the floor soaked in ice, red dye number six and rock salt. I know that Wes and David would not leave their best friend lying there in excruciating pain. Those are not the Dalton Academy Warblers that I know. For example when Santana went to Dalton to confront Sebastian and stated how Blaine might lose and eye Trent was all worried about him.

Furthermore if Sebastian really wanted Blaine all for himself why would he do that and not be concerned for him at all. Now because of Sebastian Smythe Blaine has to have surgery on his right eye and he has to wear an eye patch. I also really don’t understand why Blaine has to stay home because he is not immobile. He is just blind in his right eye until his surgery. It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

In conclusion Sebastian Smythe is just a cheating, lying, evil, conniving, stealing, disgusting, slimy, creepy, boyfriend stealer. Sebastian is a horrid creature; I don’t even think that he qualifies for a human. He has not gotten anything positive out of the whole incident with Blaine. What he ended up with was no friends, Klaine becoming even stronger, Blaine and Kurt hating him more than they did before the slushy, all of the Warblers hating his guts and the truth about Sebastian Smythe out in the open. This episode of Glee was very unrealistic and I was quite disappointed with the Warblers or as Puck calls them the Garglers.
