Why does the carnival keep coming back to Green Town, Illinois?

How does Mr. Halloway and Will’s relationship change?

Magic of Music

I wrote this poem about music to show that there is a way to clear your mind when you have to and that music does a lot for you. Music kind of speaks to you and your heart. Music has done a lot for me and a lot for others

Magic of Music
I block out the world
With a beat and a drum
A rhythm
That no one understands but me
It’s a feeling
Almost like a dream
It’s a rush to my
Heart beat
It’s a sound that only
I can control
It’s magic with a touch
Of life and joy
Only I can bring it out
To the world
I close my eyes and
See the magic in the
Music it’s speaking to me

Hello Kitty and Domo

What if you were in a store and you saw something you like with a cat on it what if that cat is Hello Kitty? And what if you're shoping with your child and they see this big brown doll and it was Domo? I'm going to tell you more about them.

I decide to write my November free write about Hello Kitty and Domo. The reason why I picked these topics is well because I didn’t really have anything else to write about plus Hello Kitty and Domo are pretty sweet. I use to never like Hello Kitty when I was younger now for some reason I do I think it’s because I don’t really care what people think about me I know I am  fifteen I really  don’t  have to prove myself. Most people are like oh my gosh I’m Fifteen and a chick I have to do this well me I don’t care I’m a laid back kick it and chill type of girl. But back to Hello kitty I got more hello kitty stuff then Domo Hello Kitty pj’s Hello Kitty shirt’s and bows. The reason why I love Domo I’ve just always loved Domo. Hes this Japanese character and hes pretty sweet. I got almost Domo everything I have these three Domo dolls ones small ones medium size and the other is this really big one its cool then Domo slippers it’s pretty cool. You know I hope this helps with those who try to prove them self’s don’t try growing up to fast be mature when you have to but when you want act like a kid life’s too short to act like something you’re not. This is my November free write about Hello Kitty and Domo I hope it makes you think about some stuff I said and I hope you all enjoyed.

The Curse of Blondes

Reese Witherspoon said, “Being a Southern person and a blonde, it's not a good combination. Immediately, when people meet you, they think of you as not being smart” (“Blonde” 1).  The story I picked was “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant.” This story was written by W.D. Wetherall. I think this one was the best because it’s not only simple, but it’s a good story and its kind of funny, because Sheila Mant symbolizes the stereotypical blonde. She acts like a typical blonde because she is rude and self-centered.

The first time Sheila is rude and self-centered is when she goes on a boat ride with the narrator to a fair. She sits in the front of the boat while he sits in the back, rowing. She sits with her back to him. The story says, “She let herself down reluctantly in the bow. I was glad she was not facing me” (Wetherall 4). If went for a boat ride with a friend, I would face them so I could actually talk to them. It is rude to put your back to someone because they invited you and you can’t talk to someone when you are not facing them. This is only the first example of how Shiela Mant is rude.

The second time Shiela is rude to the narrator is when she talks about herself. She does not try to make conversation in the boat by talking to him about the things he is talking about. She just ignores him and talks about herself and about other guys she likes. She says, “Eric said I have the figure to model, but I thought I should get an education first. I mean it might be a while before I get started and all” (Wetherall 8). She even talked about a party where there were college men, and talked about where she wanted to go to college. If I was the narrator, I would have been offended about how she talked about other guys.

Some people portray Shiela Mant as nice and kind. They might say that she is nice to accept the boat ride from the narrator. He is younger than her, and she may have accepted the boat ride so she did not hurt his feelings. I personally do not believe that is true.

The third example of Shiela Mant being rude is when she finds the narrator and tells him she is going home from the carnival with someone else. She went home with Eric. The narrator thinks, “…all I really remember is her coming over to me once the music is done to explain that she would be going home in Eric Caswell’s corvette” (Wetherall 10). When a girl is invited to go with somebody on a date they usually go home with the same person.

The way Sheila Mant sits in the canoe, talks about herself, and leaves the carnival with another guy show that she is a stereotypical self-centered rude blonde. As a brunette, I think this is a good story, and it’s kind of funny. Shiela Mant symbolizes the stereotypical rude blonde.

October free write

In my poem Rocks I refer to people as rocks by meaning were all diffrent shapes and sizes. That we all stand out in our own way.

                                                           Rocks

We are just rocks

Pebbles on the ground

We are hard and we fight

We won’t give up

We are just rocks pebbles

We are all different shapes

Sizes we all have

Our own shape of who we are

And what we do we are different

We are who we are

We fight for our life’s

Everyday not knowing if we will live

Or die we are rocks

And we will stand tall

No matter what life

Throws at us

We are rocks
