May Freewrite: My Hero

Article posted May 16, 2012 at 12:49 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 388

Super-man!, Batman!, Ironman!, Incredible Hulk!, My dad! Now they are all heros in my book. Being a hero takes courage, achievement, and awarded for his deeds. Yahoo Anwser says the definition for a hero is a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. My dad is currently in the national guard he is a recruiter and he has been sent over seas when he was younger but now he just recruits people to come in the armed forces. My dad was shipped to Kowait, Iraq, and ect.

I hope one day I end up like him because I want my kids to look up to me like I did for him. I also think my dads a hero because hes special to me. I have always thought that what if he goes over seas and gets shot. One time he was in Iraq and his apendix popped. My dad doesnt get shipped anymore because he has five kids to take care of. He works really hard and achieves alot of goals during the week and on the weekends he helps me and my little brothers race dirtbikes.

My dad goes out of his way just to make my day better. He might not be recognized more then others but he is to me. When hes at a concert hes recognized for being in the armed forces. One time my dad and my step mom went to a Rascal Flatts concert, they got free tickets to see him. While they were there they had a chance to go up on stage and meet all the band crew.

My dads a hero, is yours?

Dear Freshman!

Article posted May 9, 2012 at 04:35 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 110

Dear Freshman,
Oh my! Freshman year is hard but fun! Some tips to make you be succesful in your freshman. You see ths blog you're reading you have to do these to pass English,  pay attention to your teachers for upcoming assignments, and be organized because you never know you can loose something important to you.

The key for paying attention to your elders is you must get rest because sometimes they get kind of boring and you can easily doze off. You must be alert of any upcoming test or pop quizzes.

The key of being organized when you get a locker you want to have your stuff all in the right place just in case you are late for class. If you're not organized that can cost you your grade and not coming prepared for class. Not being organized can cost you having a referal. If you're late to class you get only one warning and three after that you get after school detention.

To conclude, the tips for being succesful in your freshman year is doing blogs for English class, paying attention to your teachers, and being organized. Hope you have a wonderful year I know I did!

Sincerely,
Hailey Bomboy

Romeo and Juliet/ Sing out

Article posted May 4, 2012 at 12:56 PM GMT0 • comment (3) • Reads 343

Romeo and Juliet! I love them. I'm reading a play called Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespear and we have to do a blog about lyrics that annonce the real Romeo and the real Juliet. The song that I picked that announced them "Romeo and Juliet" by Dire Straits.

The lyrics for this song refers to Romeo and Juliet, because in one part it says "Juliet says hey its Romeo, you nearly gimme me a heart attack." I think that part resembles when Romeo goes to Juliet's place on the balcony and Romeo comes up and starts creeping on her.

The lyrics use Romeo and Juliet accuratly and how I know that because in the song it says " He's underneath my window she's singing hey la my boyfriends back." I think that quote from the song depicts Juliet thinking about Romeo and when they kissed and met at the party. Then Romeo appears at the balcony at the Capulet's house and Juliet is thinking to herself that hes finally back I missed him so much.

To conclide, the song "Romeo and Juliet" by Dire Straits is an accurate allusion about the real play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespear.

Are you a Humanist?

Article posted February 10, 2012 at 01:35 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 654

A humanist would criticize the show Beyond Scared Straight

One reason why a humanist would criticize this show because the show implies that young teenagers these days are making bad choices. When their parents put them through a journey when jail officers took the young criminals through a jail and let the real criminals talk to them.

Another reason a humanist would criticize this is usually when the teenagers are done with the journey they usually knows right from wrong, but half the people that are done with the tour go back to their own habits and don’t learn from anything. During the show some people learn from the problems that they cause, because they want to make a change in their lives.

For a conclusion, A humanist would criticize the show Beyond Scared Straight.

Will is Caring, Loyal, and Brave

Will is Caring, Loyal, and Brave

Are you caring, loyal, and brave? In the book Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, Will is caring, loyal, and brave. Will is caring when he cried over Jim at the end, and tried to get him to revive, Will helped his dad understand about his life in the mirror maze, and when Will pulls Jim off the carousel. Will is loyal when Jim wasn’t conscious, and he stood there by his side and was loyal to him, when Will talks to Mr. Dark and when Jim was hypnotized Will answered for him, and Will is also loyal when he tells his dad about the evil carnival. Will is brave when he talks to Mr. Dark, when Will saves Jim off the Carousel, and when he fights the dust witch.

Will is caring, because when Will cried over Jim and tried to revive him in the book it says “The tears burst from Wills eyes.” (Bradbury 280) Will is also caring when he pulls Jim off the carousel in the book it says “The carousel whirled. Jim screamed” (Bradbury 269). Will is caring when he helped his dad understand about his life in the mirror maze in the passage it says “Oh, Dad, Dad I don’t care how old you are, ever! I don’t care what, I don’t care anything!” (Bradbury 256). The counter point against Will caring is when Will didn’t care that his dad killed the Dust Witch. I would refute about that because why would he care about the dust witch, she put a spell on him and he already wanted to kill her.

Will is loyal, because when Jim rode the carousel and Will pulled him of Jim became unconscious; Will was there the whole time by his side. In the passage it says “Oh, God, cried Will. Is he dead?” (Bradbury 269) that text example states that Will wants to know if Jim is dead and is right there by his side. Will is also loyal when he tells his dad about the Evil Carnival, in the passage it says “Jim? Will! What the hell is going on?” (Bradbury 172) that text examples states that Jim and Will told Mr. Halloway and he asked what is going on. Will is loyal when Mr. Dark asks him and Jim if they will be his assistant. Jim froze up and Will was constantly telling Jim to say no and then Jim said no. That means Will was by Jims side throughout the book. In the passage it states “You’ll travel with us, Jim, and if Mr. Cooger doesn’t survive, Jim how would you like to be partners? Don’t listen wailed his best friend” (Bradbury 235) that text example explains Jim freezing up and his best friend being there to help him out. The counter point to show that will is not loyal is when Will kills the Dust Witch. He kills her without including his best friend. The defense against that is why would Will include Jim if he wanted the Dust Witch die anyways and he was right there at the time and Jim wasn’t.

Will is brave, because when saving Jim off the carousel in the passage it states “Jim, get off!! Jim, don’t leave me here!” That text example states that Will is brave and helps Jim off the carousel. Will is also brave when he talks to Mr. Dark. Mr. Dark looks like a mean person I would never talk to him but will was so brave that he talked to him. In the passage it says “I know him” (Bradbury 108) this shows that Will is brave when he talks to Will. Will is also brave when he fights the Dust Witch; it takes a lot of confidence to fight the dust witch. In the book it says “Witch, he thought louder and let his blood pound, the roof’s clean, hear!?” that shows you him fighting the Dust Witch. The counter point for Will not being brave is he didn’t care when his father killed the Dust Witch. The refute against that is why would care if his Dad killed her or not, she put a spell on him.

In the book I just finished Will is caring, loyal, and brave and there are three text examples behind them. Do you think you are caring, loyal, and brave? I think I am, but not brave because I’m scared of a lot of things. I would recommend this book to the people that like horror stories and understand mysteries.

    November Freewrite: Hailey Bomboy

BOOM! IM GOING TO VANISH BACK TO MY YOUNGIN' DAYS! When I was young about five, I switched back and forth between school districts. The first school that I ever went to was Turnpike Elementary School. When I went to that school I thought that I would stay there until I graduated from school. Also when I was in that school I felt like everyone liked me that goes for every school when I was younger because when your younger everything was great you felt like you were unstoppable.
When my mom and my step dad split I moved to Laceyville Elementary which was when the schools werent all one. When I was in that school we got to have three times to go outside for recess, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one at the end of the day; first through sixth grade.
After moving out of Aunt's house I moved to my other Aunt's house which put me in the district of Elk Lake. I was in forth grade when I went to Elk Lake. When I moved from my Aunt's to our own house I was still in the Elk Lake District, so that was good for me. My mom plans on me to stay in Elk Lake until I gradute. I love staying in a school and not moving because I hate moving from your friends.

Here's a question for you!

Article posted November 21, 2011 at 01:39 PM GMT0 • comment (7) • Reads 1381

When you are reading "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Ray Bradbury you might run into confusing parts I know I did. What is confusing about the story is Do you think the Carnival that is coming EVIL or NON-EVIL? or Do you think the lightning rod salesman EVIL or NON-EVIL?

Pay Attention To Me

Article posted October 14, 2011 at 01:57 PM GMT0 • comment (3) • Reads 1050

Dogs! Cats! Rats! If you went to a pet store would you pick a dog, cat or a rat? Do you want your pet to pay attention to you? Do you want your pet to be energetic or lazy? Do you want a pet to ruin your house?  I would like a pet that pays attention to me, has energy to play, and doesn't ruin your house and that pet is a dog.

Snitch! Taddle Tail! When is the perfect time to announce that your friend is doing something horrible? I think it is a perfect time to announce that your friend is doing something bad when they do something illegal, hurt your feelings, and call you names.

A theme for

Article posted October 5, 2011 at 01:41 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1281

A theme that teaches a lesson in the novel "The Djinn Who Lives Between Night and Day" by Bruce Holland Rogers is to be honest, but not being honest for a good thing doesn't make you a bad person.

My theme applies to the novel because Tayab lies all the time and its for cruel things like tricking the wife to go all the way to the ocean and she will get her kids back so she walked to the ocean. Al-faq lied to the husband by telling him that his wife is alive and he will bring back his kids if he went to the ocean so that made the husband a happier man.

My theme applies to life because if you lie for something that was bad you will get punished but if you lie for something good atleast once you wont get punished as hard, but its not always good to lie.

Basketball, and Motorcross

Article posted October 5, 2011 at 12:57 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1257

My September freewrite is about my hobbies which are Basketball and Motocross. Basketball and Motocross are the things that I do in my life that mean the most to me.
In the season of winter is basketball. I play point guard currently and it takes a lot of skill to obtain that position. In the summer and fall is Motocross. It takes a lot of skill but anyone could do it if they spend their time practicing and lifting for it. Motocross is scary because you're jumping jumps and you are risking your life for something you love. Basketball is not a risk because nothing happens you might get a broken bone.

I did both basketball and motocross over the summer. It was fun and I spent practically all my time doing it. In the summer, I don't go on vacation. My vacation is going to motocross races. In motocross my favorite pro rider is Ryan Dungey, and my favorite pro basketball player is Lebron James.
One day when I am older I want to meet these people, and hangout with them for the whole day. I hope you liked reading my free write about the hobbies I love, you should try them sometime.

My Visual Representation

Hi, My name is Hailey  my favorite hobbie or sport to do would be basketball and motocross. When I was younger my mom used to read me and my brother How The Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss'. I am really easy to get along with because I have a outgoing personality but I am alittle bit shy at times. When every I think about my favorite quote or something that describes me that would be "All it takes is all you've got" by Nathan Havey. What I do on my spare time would be is I race dirtbike or I ride them. My favorite tv show is Degrassi, or Pretty Little Liars.

My favorite movie is Dear John, and Step Up 3, and when I was younger my favorite tv show was Elmo. When I grow up I want to get a scholarship for a college, and end up playing in WNBA. My favorite subject in school would be english and health, the subject I dislike is Math. I dont like to read, but when I am reading something interesting then I will read it. When I grow up I wanna be famous Micheal Jordan! That is my visual representation of me, thanks for reading.
