My Life for Hire- A day to Remember Somebody give me a sign,
That everything's going as planned,
And then everything falls away,
Into the darkness of this shallow place.

The detail is striking,
The room's cold and frightening,
You'll kick and you'll scream,
You'll try everything to survive,
But you should know your fate by now.

They told me (they told me)
How I should be,
"But I broke the mold somehow!"

Too vague, too vague.
You can try to resolve the past right now,
But I swear I'll be the one
To let the world know what you've done to me.

Don't you just love how this song has meaning? I chose this not only because it is a good song, but also because the writer is great at what he does. He doesn't just write about random stuff like a lot of other writers; his songs actually mean something. This is also a nonfiction song.
It is about a person who is trapped in a dark room with no way out. The person was put in this place because they weren't acting as they were supposed to, as they say "But I broke the mold somehow!" The person thinks they are able to get out or become a better person. Even though this is what they want, they are meant to die.
I can relate to this on a smaller scale from when I was a little kid. Sometimes I would choose not to listen to my parents or do something I knew I wasn't supposed to. Because of this I was sent to my room. Even though this was my punishment, I couldn't come out for a small amount of time that seamed a lot longer than it really was. I felt like I was trapped. This is why i like this song; it has meaning, which makes it a lot easier to relate to!
