A Crying Sky
Written by Reem © November 2011
So much depends
upon
a crying sky
blurred
with fog, all
puffy
veins bulging bright
red.
These poems we wrote are bared on The Red Wheel Barrow by William Carlos Williams,he was a poet who wrote about everyday events.
My first peom is about a raining sky the fog is low and there is lightining which represents the veins,I wrote about the difference of a raining sky and a crying girl.
My second poem is about my friends and I when we tell jokes and riddles and our faces turn pink we cry.
Three Girls

An Assisted Personal Narrative Written by Reem © October 2011
It was a Saturday night, nine o’clock and I was playing with my Barbies and a pencil case in the tub while my nanny was making me dinner. My mom usually lets me play in the bath. The water was warm and cozy, there was no foam though. My mom was cleaning her feet, she was sitting on the corner of the bath tub. While I was playing I asked my mom if she could take out a plastic piece from my pencil case. The plastic piece was in my metal pencil case stuck in the top right corner in the corner. She said yes, but she said that she had to get dressed first. However, when I was 8, I was not very patient so I decided to take it out myself.
I wanted to take out the plastic piece to use as a bus drivers seat so my Barbies could go to school. I took the glass piece out with my thumb then my thumb hit the edge of the place where the plastic piece was stuck in. Two seconds later I found myself sitting in a dark red colored bath. I looked at my thumb and it had a long deep wide cut carved in to it, it was so much agony! I decided to call my mom. I screamed “MOM”, she dropped her sweater and came running; she was just in the dressing room barely two meters away. When my mom came, the cut in my thumb was creating a bloody river. My mom, without even thinking, not even rinsing me, took me out of the bath. My towel was pink and had a Barbie on it.
She wrapped my thumb in a tissue which had to be changed every minute to stop the bleeding. My nanny helped me get dressed. Then we rushed off to the hospital. I had to get stiches. From how scared I was praying in my head. My tears had now formed a river. My dad kept calling and getting mad at my mom because they had to go to the dinner, and my mom was about to burst out crying but didn’t and I didn’t want her to worry. My nanny even wanted to come because of how scared she was but my mom didn’t let her.
After about an hour I ate dinner watched TV and played. My mom and dad came back five minutes later from when they left because the dinner was cancelled. After four weeks or more the stiches came loose and it took a week for the scars to heal. Then I learned to be patient and wait for my parents and not do actions from my head.

In the afternoon we went and made our own face paint. First we went and found three colored rocks. Then we had to use a bigger rock to rub the colored rock on it. After we rubbed the rock we added water to it so it would be moist. Then we put our fingers in the moist powder and we painted designs on our faces. Some of us had spots some people had stripes some had a multi colored faces and beards some of us put lines down our noses some people looked like animals and had stripes on their cheeks and dots on their noses. Then we went back to the camp grounds.
