The Life of Saint Michael de Sanctis

Article posted December 11, 2012 at 02:55 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 84

I was a good friend of Michael.  I met him when he was just born in 1591.  While he was growing up, I realized that he wanted to become a monk because he admired St. Francis of Assisi.  He was living a great life.  But soon I heard the news that his parents died.  After they died, Michael started working for me, a merchant, as an apprentice.  He always had a good attitude.  He was also dedicated to the Eucharist.  When he was twelve, he became part of the Trinitarian Friars. Because he became part of this group, I didn’t speak to him for a quite while.  I was going to visit him to see how he was doing but he visited first.  He told me everything that happened to him.

At the age of 16 he took his vows.  After he took his vows, he asked another member if he could become a priest.  The member said yes.  I went to one of his masses and he was very welcoming to everyone who showed up.  Everyone could see that he respected the Eucharist greatly.  He never did anything disrespectful to God or the Eucharist.  When he had the Eucharist in his hand, he seemed to be unaware of anything else around him.   All he focused on was the Eucharist that he was holding.  The other masses I went to, I realized that he was experiencing these overpowering and intense ecstasies.  I told him he had a gift.  Because of this, he is known as being “remarkable for innocence of life, wonderful penitence, and love for God.”  Today, April 10, 1625, we will remember that he believed in God his whole life and he was a great man.

Michael has motivated us all, to fully dedicate ourselves to God even when everything is going wrong.  When Michael lost his parents he didn’t give up on God, he was still fully dedicated to him.  As I live the rest of my life, I will focus and pray to God more than before.  Michael respected the Eucharist.  I think that is something that we should all focus on and follow through with.  As a friend of Michael, it was obvious that Michael had a challenging life including his parents dying, becoming a priest at a young age, and trying to do the right thing his whole life.  Because Michael got through these tough times, we know him as a person who will always believe in God and never give up on him.

One thing that Michael would want all of us to know is that we should never give up on God or disrespect him at all.  If we follow this we will have a great life and live eternal life with God forever in heaven.  It shows us that Michael never gave up and continued his whole life dedicated to God.  By respecting God, we respect others because God teaches us the right thing to do every single time.

I have picked St. Michael de Sanctis as the saint I wish to choose for confirmation.  I chose this saint because my brother has the same name, and I admire my brother.  I also chose him because he was very religious his whole life.  I was interested in his life also because he is the patron saint of cancer patients and someone close to me fought and survived cancer.  The name I wish to be called at Confirmation is Michael. The image at the right is Saint Michael de Sanctis kneeling in front of the Eucharist.

One Reason Why You Should Watch Your Diet

Article posted June 1, 2012 at 12:28 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 712

The seventh grade class watched a video about our health and that you are risking your life if you do not watch your diet.  This video is trying to teach us to keep a good diet and exercise often.  When you eat a healthy diet, most of the time you will feel better.

This video that we watched was about a person trying to eat McDonalds for 30 days. This was called "Super Size Me."  Some people helped him which were doctors and nutritionists.  This allowed him to see how his health was throughout the whole challenge.  There were also rules which were he wasn't allowed to walk more than 2,000 steps and if the workers asked if he wanted to supersize it than he had to.  The first ten days were easy for him and enjoyed the food.  The next ten days was a little bit harder and even got a little sick. But the next seven days were very hard and challenging and the doctors said he couldn't continue, but he still might.  You will have to watch the end of "Super Size Me" on the site. Click here to watch it.topdocumentaryfilms.com/super-size-me.

This video has made me focus on my diet.  It also has shown me that McDonalds is not a healthy place to eat.  If you do not exercise enough and eat junk foods, you will have too many calories and you weight will increase.  If you do exercise and eat good foods for you, you will have a healthy diet.  This documentary has also helped me to eat healthier and exercise daily.  Because of this documentary, I will follow a healthier diet, and hopefully you will, too.

I have done many different things to this project like researching and figuring out the whole format of my project.  I have checked it and had my parents also check it for any grammatical errors.  I have done all possible things that I could think of to get a good grade on this project. Hopefully, I will get a great grade on this project because it was very challenging.

Millennium Development Goals

Article posted October 26, 2011 at 02:12 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 113

Millennium Development Goals are goals to stop starvation.  The goals also protect children from dying or becoming very sick.  Children need education.

  1. Water

  2. Hunger

  3. Child Survival

  4. Child Labor

  5. Women's Rights

  6. Aids

  7. Displacement

  8. Education

In India many people do not have anywhere to go for education.  If the government paid more attention to them, they would have a better education.  That is what they are trying to do.  Education is very important.Click here for more information.
