International Towne

Article posted May 10, 2012 at 11:25 PM GMT • comment • Reads 834

I think that I-Towne was great. It was lots of fun. I learned how to keep a schedule and budget. I think the best part was getting to build the pencil boxes, that was lots of fun because we got to use hammers and I love to work with my hands. I would have liked to stay longer, but other than that I wouldn’t change anything.

The World History Fair

Article posted May 9, 2012 at 11:57 PM GMT • comment • Reads 462

So, world history influences our lives today by allowing us to advance in technology and beliefs. Without history, l we wouldn’t be here. How has the telescope changed science? I learned that without the invention of the telescope we wouldn’t know the order of the planets and how gravity works. The most interesting part of my project was learning that the telescope has given us the first semi accurate of the speed of light. I found out that there are two types of telescopes, refracting and reflecting.

Some of the interesting things I learned were that above a pharaoh’s tomb was an inscription that read “Those who enter, suffering will come.” or something like that. There were three types of Greek Columns.

Seedfolks and activities

Article posted May 9, 2012 at 11:32 PM GMT • comment • Reads 464

I don’t really like how the point of view changes every chapter. I think the big idea is that everyone can come together to make something great. I’ve liked Curtis because he is making his garden to get Lateesha to like him again. I liked all of the activities we’ve done in classes. Painting rocks was lots of fun and making flowers out of tin cans in Mr. Howard’s class. I really thought this was cool. We got to use hammers and scissors. I liked Mrs. Lubich’s activity because we got to use rocks and hang out with our friends.

The project

Article posted May 9, 2012 at 10:47 PM GMT • comment • Reads 470

I found out that the telescope has made many great discoveries. Some deal with the speed of light and others deal with how gravity works.  My final project is coming along very well, I have the 3-D museum display done and am just starting on my research board. My research question was “How has the telescope changed science?” so the discoveries that have been made will show how that telescope has changed science. I am very close to ready for the fair.

My spring break

Article posted May 9, 2012 at 10:36 PM GMT • comment • Reads 489

Well, my friend convinced me to read The Hunger Games. I read all three books in one week! I thought that they all were awesome. I liked the third one most. I liked it most because it was very exciting and very suspenseful. I liked how it was like the other series I read. They both have wars and fighting, the only difference is the time periods they are in. that is all I have to say right now.

The chicken wing

Article posted May 9, 2012 at 10:23 PM GMT • comment • Reads 557

We were playing with chicken wings to wrap up the muscular system. I thought the experiment was lots of fun and a little weird. I am positive that it was worthwhile. I learned that it is fun to play with ligaments and the colors of fat and muscle. The chicken wing was awesome.

It’s me

Article posted April 3, 2012 at 03:19 AM GMT • comment • Reads 513

I am blue pants,
Messy and normal.
I am the box in the corner,
The one that fads into the back ground.
I am that lamp next to the couch,
Always doing the same thing.
I am the that dog,
Always around.
I am a camping machine,
Who never wants to, but always does.
I am a misplaced rug,
I don’t go in most rooms, but I do some.
I am the door that won’t swing open easily,
You just need to show me you can do it to me before.
I am the ocean,
Just going with the flow.
I am just a crazy person,
Always changing my opinion on things.
I only know one thing for sure, I am me.

My take on Ernest Green

Article posted March 19, 2012 at 03:27 AM GMT • comment • Reads 425

In their position, I would have had the courage to go on, but after the brother was beaten up I would have given up. I was a little shocked at the “equal but separated” thing that was happening, and how poorly the nine were treated. I would have continued until they stared to beat people up, but other than that I think I would have had the courage to continue. I have decent temper control, but if I had been beaten up I would have fought back. Then, I would have been expelled. I think those kids were very strong and helped break the barrier between black people and white people. Discrimination does still go on, but not on such a big scale. People get discriminated, maybe if they are crippled, or act weird. You get shut out.

A poem and a quote

Article posted March 5, 2012 at 03:54 AM GMT • comment • Reads 441

A book I have has a lot of quotes, my favorite one is “Real difficulties can be overcome; it is the imaginary ones that are unconquerable.” Theodore N. Vail said that.
When one was young, he had many irrational worries. Then comes a book. Has many stories. With every story, a quote or two. Reading one or another makes a difference. One quote really sticks out to this young man. Sheds some light this quote has done. Relax the worries this quote has done. A different person he has become.

Learning cells

Article posted February 24, 2012 at 04:24 AM GMT • comment • Reads 739

So we have been learning about microbiology in science. It’s been fun. We’ve learned how a cell works, and their organs, organelle, what they do, and how they get their food, and their life circle. It was fun learning about how they work, and what they look like. It was very fun to look at them through the microscope, and learning what different cells look like under the microscope. it was weird to learn about cancer and genetic mutations.

About the Room

Article posted February 22, 2012 at 05:16 AM GMT • comment • Reads 777

About the Room
Around the room, among the room
Through the chairs, under the desks
Up the wall, to the high white ceiling
Past Spencer and Spencer
Into the window, by the squirrely children
Towards the thick doors, of wood
Over the black thin laptop
With a willing fun teacher
Across the dull rug
Below the fluffy white clouds
Across the long hallways, from door to wall
Near the math room, inside M.R.M.S.
With friends of friends
Behind the colorful posters
Of poems and poems
On the plain wall
About this room, of rooms

My book

Article posted February 13, 2012 at 03:49 AM GMT • comment • Reads 468

I finished my book. It was a great ending. I’m hoping the author will revisit the subject, but if he does, it probably won’t be for a couple years. Ok, the last words of the series were “We are not alone.”I think that was a great ending. The author started writing the series at 15 and has been working on it for 12 years. The title of the book was Inheritance. I never really made time to read, so in order to read, I had to lock myself in my room for the weekends. It was an absolutely fantastic book.

My books

Article posted February 13, 2012 at 03:31 AM GMT • comment • Reads 506

Lately I’ve been reading two books. I just finished one, called Inheritance, by Christopher Paolini. I liked all the suspense and that everything went into deep detail and how everything is worked in ways that are unimaginable, like the dragons, they work in ways that in the real world we only dream about. The other book, I just started. This one’s called Eragon, by Christopher Paolini the first book in the series. I decided to reread the series because I wanted to get more out of the books. I like how everything is a secret and nothing is known.

My interpretation on a quote

Article posted January 20, 2012 at 02:46 AM GMT • comment • Reads 676

I chose Theodore Roosevelt’s quote “Believe and your half way there.” I think this means that believing is only half of the doing, that the other half is the doing it. I could apply this to my life by believing that I can do stuff, all sorts of stuff. Like participating in school. This could have a positive effect on someone’s life by giving them confidence by believing that if they can do, they can do it. If everyone could believe that they could do, the whole world could have a confidence boost therefore no one would homeless and we wouldn’t be fearful to ask people for stuff, like a world peace treaty.

My 2012 goals

Article posted January 17, 2012 at 05:38 PM GMT • comment • Reads 646

My goals for 2012 are simple, but do have work involved. My goals are to a better student at school, and to be more aware of how what I say affects people. My first goal will involve me changing how engaged I am in school, do better work, and to do great work on homework. The second goal involves me thinking about what I say before I say it and know when I’ve said something bad.

My reflection on the poetry project

Article posted January 9, 2012 at 05:09 AM GMT • comment • Reads 815

My project went smoothish, but it was also rough. Working in a group this way was fun, but also hard. Most the communication went smooth, but there were some misunderstandings. I think that we could have done our video differently. The things that went well were that we all got along, we got lots of information, and we did our works sited good. I would have started our video sooner and made what stanza I was doing clearer. I would have done everything else the same. I think you could improve this project by maybe giving more time to complete it, but I thought it was lots of fun other then the time limit.

What I know about Greece

Article posted December 9, 2011 at 12:58 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1345

I don’t really know much about Greece, but here is what I do know. What I know about Greece is that there were five city-states that were part of Greece. I know that Sparta and Athens were the most powerful city-states and the other city-states always tried to outdo Sparta and Athens. They treated their women with little respect and often went to war.
In class we are doing many things with Greece and the city-states. We have started to create logos, handshakes, and chants in class. We also have started the escorting. That is all we have done on class.

Mrs. G

Article posted December 5, 2011 at 03:43 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1041

I chose to do Mrs. G’s blog. The favorite book that I’ve read this year is called Inheritance. I detest the character called Nasuada. I dislike her because she will follow orders even if it means death. I would change how she does follow orders, so she would be more willing to save comrades than follow her mission rules. I don’t think any of the characters represent real people. No, nothing about a particular character seems to relate to the authors true personality. Here is the writing prompt I chose to write about. “Think about the books you have read this year. Which one is your favorite? Is there a character you hate/detest/despise? Why? What traits could you change about the characters that would change how you think about them? Do you think that any of the characters represent real people? Does anything about a particular character seem to be related to the author's true personality--who the writer is? Respond to this blog by posting a blog of your own. A good response before 12/8/11 is worth 10 points. Be sure to proofread before posting.”

What I'm thankful for

Article posted November 18, 2011 at 04:11 AM GMT • comment • Reads 975

I am really thankful that I have a house to live in and a family to share it with. I am thankful that I have good educators that know what they are doing. I am thankful for modern medicine. I am thankful for my house because it gives shelter to my family and me. I’m thankful for my family because they help me become better, and let me know when I am wrong. I’m thankful for good educators because without a good teacher gives a good education and a good education is everything. I am thankful for modern medicine because it helps relieve pain and shortens the life of colds. There are many things to be greatful for, and uncountable reasons to be greatful. These are just a few items and reaons to be greatful.

A mystery

Article posted November 14, 2011 at 03:34 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1013

The best mystery I’ve ever read was the story called, The Valley of Death. I liked this story because the author did a great job hiding the little clues that give the story away. He also made each character a very different personality. I think this story is the best because it’s about a foster family, and the foster kid changes a lot. The foster kid is also hiding a big secret, and that secret got the main character’s sister kidnapped. The author did a very good job at hiding her secret, but also dropped hints of what the foster kid was hiding. I think a good short story starter would be,

“I see the target, I’m closing in on it, someone is with him” this guy is a deadly weapon, impossible to trick, impossible to see, impossible to hear, impossible to escape. He’s got a 7 inch dagger in his boot, a pistol in his coat, a rifle at his back, and a fist like rocket. “I’m going for the guard first, then the target. They won’t escape.”

Blogging and I

Article posted November 4, 2011 at 02:50 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1521

I really like blogging. Blogging has been fun, but also complicated. It’s complicated because you have to be creative and interpret the assignments in a fun way. Blogging for me has gone mostly smoothly. There were a couple of assignments I had trouble with. The first assignment was difficult, mostly because I was new to it. The Fox Run assignment was difficult because I had a hard time remembering the trip. The funny/scary assignment was difficult because I usually try not to laugh or try to analyze events as they happen so I don’t get surprised. I think the blogging assignments are a fun writing assignment. It is fun because of the topics we type about. It is also fun because I makes me not have to write, but you do write so you don’t write but you do. I don’t really have any blogging topic ideas; I’ll just do what is assigned.

My final paragraph in Always Remember

Article posted October 27, 2011 at 04:12 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1608

We need to always to remember military actions, or people who have served and are serving. We need to remember the people who have served so we can honor them and respect them. We also remember the people who are serving so we can honor and respect them as well. We need to remember our military actions as well. If we forget that we bombed Japan, we would forget everyone who died in the bombings. If we remember this, the innocent lives that were lost will not be forgotten. We needed to remember this so we don’t do it again. We need to remember the civil war so we remember that our country once wanted to be two different countries. If we forget these, we do these wars again. There are many reasons to always remember. The best reason to remember is so we don’t forget. If we forget, we will redo our mistakes. We need to always remember so we don’t repeat mistakes. We must remember our veterans so we don’t forget them. If we forget them, we will not remember their sacrifice. We must remember.
Please tell me if this is a good paragraph or not.

Libya

Article posted October 21, 2011 at 04:55 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1396

The people of Libya have had a great thing happen to them, they have had Gadhafi die. Now, they have to start the road to recovery.
In Libya Gadhafi has died. I think it is wrong to celebrate the death of someone, even if they are a tyrant. The death of Gadhafi is good though. Now the Libyans can start the road to recovering from the dictatorship. They better start it fast, or loyalists of Gadhafi may over through it again. Libya might want to be fast in rebuilding its self, or trouble may be in it’s future. The article is about the citizens celebrating Gadhafi’s death. The article also states that the road to recovery will be long and maybe violent, but Libya will recover.
The people of Libya have had a great thing happen to them, they have had Gadhafi die.

My room is a place of disasters!! It is where most of my conflicts with my smallish brother happen. I have to share it with him!!! I do my homework there because the rest of my house is in constant noise. It is a place of peace though, when me and my brother don’t argue. My room is a home to me. It has my stuff, my homework, and my brother. This is my room.

Fox Run

Article posted September 30, 2011 at 04:09 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 1683

I loved the day at Fox Run Park. I like the morning segment more than the afternoon segment because the morning segment had more science stuff. I thought the Egg Relay race was the best part because it involved being steady with your feet so the egg wouldn’t fall, a steady hand, and quick feet. I learned to be quick and steady with an egg on my spoon. I learned how to use magic stones, and how to get a marble from one place to another with only pipe. I learned that an animal’s camouflage is the most important part of staying alive. I learned that when animal population gets too high, the population goes down. I discovered that plants have defaces from predators too. I uncovered the use of the PH bottle for the stripes. I loved the Fox Run field trip, it was lots of fun. I also learned so much about the people on my team, and our environment.

Banned books

Article posted September 30, 2011 at 03:54 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1753

I feel like the people that want to ban books haven’t read the books they want to ban. Freedom of speech falls into this because freedom of speech falls into what people are writing. I think we all should have a choice to choose. Books should not be banned because books are amazing. They exercise your imagination; allow to enjoy things that aren’t real. I belive that books should not be banned.

Reverse math

Article posted September 21, 2011 at 04:19 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1462

It took me 3 times to get it, but it totally makes since now. That guy just multiplied backwards. 7 does go into 28, 13 times if you multiply it in reverse. This also works with 3 and 15. 3 will not go into 1, so we will save the 1 for later. Now we subtract 3 from 5 and we get 2. Now we are going to use the one, we’ll put it in front of the 2, and we get 12. 3 goes into 12, 4 times, so this equals 14. 3 goes into 15, 14 times.

When I was about nine, my Grandma and Grandpa were in town for Hallowing. They dressed up like wolves and attacked our door. I knew it was them but it still surprised me, and then a cracked up when I looked at my brother's facial response. My brother’s face looked like he had just seen an alien, or a Werewolf, like they were dressed up as. It was so funny.

What I think of Rachel's challenge

Article posted September 8, 2011 at 05:23 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1508

I think that Rachel's challenge was a good presentation. It was very worthwhile, but I don't think it is needed, but I also think it is very effective. From these assemblies I take away that I need to be nicer, more outgoing, more thoughtful, and a better person by being more inclusive, more helpful, and by trying to understand better.
