This year was a lot better than I ever expected it to be. If I had to predict what was going to happen to me in seventh grade the only thing I would have said is that I was going to learn a lot about science, math, language art, and history. Sure all of that is true, but that is definitely not the only thing I have learned this year. I have learned how to make acquaintances friends and how to make friends into best friends. The most important thing to me this year was my friends. Without them I probably would have had better grades, but I would have missed out on a lot of life’s lessons. The life lesson that I have learned this year was that you cannot do everything by yourself, so open up. I used to be very shy. Now she is the last word I would use to describe myself. I am glad that I finished this year with a 3.75 GPA and a lot of new friends!

This field trip was the best field trip ever. I really enjoyed the setting most of all. They made it look really cool and eye appealing. It makes me want to become an architect. The overall experience was very intriguing. The most interesting thing to me was how much stuff you could buy with one currency, and how little stuff you could buy with the other. That was the lesson I will take from international towne and use every day. That information can help me decide were to go on vacation. I might want to go to Mexico instead of Italy because of the currency exchange rates. I would love to go on this field trip over and over again.

My guiding question was, How Did the Black Plague Affect the modern medical field. The weird thing is that I never actually answered that exact question. Instead, I though more about the benefits of the disease. I ended up learning that without the black plague, we would have no medical bills to pay. I have two main reasons to support my opinion. First, without the plague doctors would be just as smart as the average person because medical school would have nothing to teach them. Second, most of the doctors would be dead any way because they would not have been wearing the proper protective gear.
While observing other people displays boards, I was really just looking at the design instead of the actual information that they had typed up so I only ended up learning a couple of things.
1. Romans had a very good war strategy.
2. Instead of guns, people would use a bow and arrow.
3. Japanese buildings are truly a work of art.
4. Dumplings are awesome!

This movie was really sad because nobody should ever be treated as disgustingly as they were, weather you are black white pink or purple. If I were in that situation I would have stood up for the African Americans because the only thing different between whites and blacks are there color and nothing else. Today I think that discrimination has barely improved. We may not be discriminating towards color, however we discriminate against what your wear, how rich or poor you are, and how smart you are. I hope that when I am a grandma, all discrimination will be ended.

I really enjoyed this book because it had a good meaning to it. I think that the author was trying to convey a message similar to Rachel’s Challenge. If somebody were to do something nice, everybody will join to end a bigger problem, like segregation. My favorite character was Ana because she tried to get her dad's attention by planting some seeds, but what she actually did was something much bigger, put a stop to segregation. So far my favorite activity was making aluminum can garden with Mr.Howard. After he is done displaying our beautiful works of art I am going to make my flower into a ring.

My research project is based on the black plague and how it affected the modern medical world. I have to say that this was the worst project I have ever done in my life. Not to be a hater, but I really don’t see why we couldn't just do some research on the computer and tell her what we learned. I think it is totally unnecessary to put what you have learned on a giant piece of card board. But the bright thing is that I have learned a lot about the bubonic plague.

When I first heard that we would be dissecting chicken wings to see all of the different muscles and stuff, I thought it would be really fun. However, when I actually saw the wing, I almost threw up. That was gross! I will never know how chefs turn that gross glop of meat into an appetizing entree. The only thing I learned, was when I get married my husband will be doing all of the cooking for sure. There is no way I could ever do that again. Wish me luck with the frog!

This poem was my playing with language poem. The words that I choose out of the hat were unicorn, nail polish, and pitchfork. Just to let you know, this poem might seem a bit violent. I hope you enjoy it any ways.
Once upon a day,
A pretty little unicorn
Was bouncing by the bay
His horn was the color of grass
Like my favorite shade of nail polish
He seemed very mad
And for that he shall be demolished!
Right this very second
I took my pitchfork
Out of my bag
And made a wonderful meal of pork
Mad little unicorn.

"Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is free will."
Jawaharal Nehru
I really like this quote because I live by this quote! This is really meaningful to me because it is something that will never lie to you. You can always trust that using this quote in every day life will not let you down.
Life
One hand is dealt to you
You have absolutely nothing, at first
Each day you chose a new card
You can pick one that will help your hand
You can pick one that will destroy your hand
I always pick the goods cards
This way at the end of the game
I will have a royal flush and win the prizes.

Recently, we have been learning a lot about tiny little creatures called cells that make up our bodies in science. My favorite part about learning about cells is that we can see them under microscopes. We were even aloud to take out a peice of hair and look at it under a microscope. We could see all of the dead skin follicles! It was awesome! I love learning about all of the little organelles in the cells and how they function. This is why science is my favorite subject.

Fish
Above the vast ocean floor
Among the algae and seaweed
Around the rocks and ruffles
Behind big ocean mammals
Below the reflective horizon
Beyond your wildest dreams
Despite the hungry humans
Inside water as clear as air
Over the deep dark tunnels
Under cities and air
Inside plants animals and grime
At all times of day
With scales and tails
With gills and skills
With peace

I have not been reading to much lately but I have just gotten a new book from the library. It is called Tracking by Patrick Carmen. I have only gotten up to chapter two but so far it is very interesting. The book is actually written as a script! The conversations go back and fourth. So far the book has been about how the characters can track any body down just by using a computer chip. Apparently everybody leaves a track in the computer world. If you are a technology geek, like me, you will have a fun time reading this book.

This is my poem that I dedicated to my sister when I was in the fifth grade. My sister is a very dedicated gymnast and broke her arm a couple of months ago by falling off of the balance beam while doing a front flip. So hear is my poem.
There once was a girl in gymnastics.
She was part of a team called fantastics.
She went on a trip
And broke her hip.
then she started training with elastics.

I chose the quote by Albert Einstein, "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.", because it is one of my favorite quotes. My mom says that to me every day before school. I think that this quote means to always ask questions even if you have the slightest misunderstanding. If people didnt ask questions, there would be know reason for the word curiosity. I think that I could apply this to every subject in school. Especially math and science because those subjects are the most confusing to me. If I started asking more questions in those classes, I would probably be happier and calmer because every thing would make more sense. I wouldn't have to worry about doing bad on tests. Since it made such a big difference to me, imagine what it could do to the rest of the world. There might not be as many crimes or wars because people would understand each other more. I think that Albert Einstein's statement was very powerful, so powerful that it could change the world.

This year I made sure to make reasonable goals that I have to try to work at. my first goal is to be able to touch my toes without bending my legs. most people are able to do this but I think that my legs are too long and my arms are too short. I am going to have my sister push on my back every day until I can reach the tip off my toes. My second goal is to be able to swim 50 meters in thirty seconds. Right now I can swim 50 meters in 43 seconds. I will have to work on kick hard and really pushing myself to not breath every four strokes. I am looking forward to reach my goals this year.

I really enjoyed making this movie. It was a change in the everyday schedule that we usually have. This really worked on our communication skills, too. Now I realize how almost anything can be taken the wrong way. English is a whole different language when you type it instead of speak it. The one thing that I didn't like was that you had to wait for about a day for someone else to read your message. I would try having two people get on the blog at the same time. I think that you could get a lot more done in a shorter amount of time if that happened. The process of making the movie was fun too because you got to work with people from other states. That was cool because you got to meet someone new. But, overall I really enjoyed this experience. I think that my overall movie turn out pretty good despite the lack in communication. Make sure you do this project next year beacuse I want to see what my younger sister thinks of it.

I personally love Greece because my family is from Greece. I have learned that in ancient Greece religion ruled the world; the Jewish religion was the most popular religion. They also didn't have a democracy like America. Each individual city-state had their own dictator.
In humanities we had to memorize the Greek alphabet! That is one of the funnest thing that we have ever done in her class. We also had to make a team cheer for our city-state. My city-state's name was Argos. Our cheer is "Like a good neighbor Argos is there!"
The Greece unit would have to be my favorite unit because you actually get to experience the culture instead of having to read it out of a text book.

In Mrs.G's class they were doing a blog about what they think about when they think of mysteries and horror book. For me, they are similar because in both genres, there is defiantly a lot of suspense. What's a good horror story without a little suspense? They are different because not all mysteries have to be bloody or scary. I would defiantly prefer to read a horror but I have no idea why because by the time I finish reading it I will have scared myself to death. I guess it is the suspense that intrigues me.

I am thankful for many things in my life but the things that I am the most thankful for would have to be my country, my education, and all of the food I have. I am thankful for my country. America is the best place in the world to live in because we are free to do whatever we want. Like go to any public school, vote, and protest.I am also thankful for my education. People in other countries probably dream about going to a school like mountain ridge because of everything you learn, all of our after school activities, and the people we are surrounded by. But most of all, I am thankful for all of the food I have. People all over the world die from starvation, but where I live I don't even have to worry about that. When I do get food I make sure not to waste any of it because I know that people would die for what I have. It is important to not take things for granite because one day you might not have the things that you do right now and you will regret not being happy for what you have.

I never really read mysteries in my spare time. I usually lean towards action or humorous type books. But ever since I have read some of the mystery books Mrs. L selected I have really been intrigued. My favorite mystery would have to be "The Speckled Band”. It kept me wondering the whole time. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle really did a good job of hiding the answer from you the whole time too. If I were to write my own mystery it would start like this-
I was on my way to swimming with my friend’s dad. My friends dad had an always been good friends with the owner of Rampart. That is where I go to swim. When we were arriving at the school, we were both shocked to see the police investigating a dead body near the entrance. We ran out of the car and talked to the sobbing swim coach next to the police cars. She explained what had happened. She just got in the pool to test the water temperature when she noticed the dead body lying face up at the bottom of the pool. As soon as she saw it she called the cops. Nobody has any idea of what happened. But I have my own ideas.

When we got our first assignment that said we had to complete a blog at home I thought that I was never going to have any time to complete it. But, it actually took about5 minutes! It was way easier than I expected. I also thought that I was going to be terribly slow. I learned that the more you practice the faster you can type. My current speed is 35 words per minute. My only suggestion would be to not give us as many blogs as we are doing now because with all of our academic classes and our world language I have a TON of homework every green day.

I read an article on http://www.yalemedicalgroup.org/artificial_cornea about a doctor that graduated from Yale. He gave his patient, Awilda Irizarry, the best Halloween present in the world. He gave her the gift of being able to see again. He used some donated artificial cornea as an eyeball transplant. Now the lucky lady has almost perfect vision, she still has to use glasses to read though. I found this artificial very interesting because I have never heard of anybody repairing somebody's sight before. Now, I know that if I ever have eye problem, I’ll to go to Dr.Jimmy K. Lee to get my eyes fixed.

This is the first paragraph of my Always Remember paragraph. I think that it is pretty good but if you have anything to say please comment on this.
I will always remember how I dad an on handed wheelie one my bike and almost broke my leg. I'll always remember that because the swelling on my leg was very traumatic. That is similar to when Pearl Harbor was bombed because it started a very traumatic war. Traumatic thing make you want to remember so it doesn’t happen again. So let’s hope that history has been traumatic enough to not repeat itself. This is the first paragraph of my Always Remember paragraph. I think that it is pretty good but if you have anything to say please comment on this.

The book that I am currently reading is called, The Watsons Go to Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis. I just recently finished this book. It is about an African American family moving to the town Birmingham because the town that they were in was just to cold! My favorite part would have to be the entire first two chapters. In the first two chapters, you really get to know almost all of the characters. My favorite character would have to be the main character's older brother, Bryon. He is totally obsessed with himself, and if you read this book you can figure out all of the stupid things that he does. I would recommend this book to anyone with a good sense of humor.

That was the best field trip I've had since I was in fourth grade! We should have another one! My favorite part was playing hide and go seek with Mr.Howard. It was really cool just being able to go out and explore, well at least until you found a hiding spot. With Mrs.Gaynon's activity I learned that deer might eventually eat grass that has grown out of soil that might have some disintegrated deer on it. That was definitely a disturbing thought. At least it was a great adventure over all.

Banned books week is great for some people. But personally I think that librarians should actually let kids check out that certain book. Instead, teachers should cross out the parts that the students disagreed with and just let the book be open to the public again. If more than 10 people disagreed, that is when they should not offer the book to the school. I believe that this would be a proper way to execute freedom of rights. When I first saw that video I was very impressed with the fact that one of the sailors could be so persuasive that he could convince you of thinking that seven times thirteen equals 28.He did it in division multiplication and addition! Now obviously, he was wrong because if he were to take 7 sailors and feed them 13 doughnuts each, he would have to bake a lot more donuts,66 more to be exact.(I hope I did my math right.)

Rachel’s challenge meant a lot to me because I thought that it was amazing how many people she touched with her stories. It is even cooler that 14 people were named after her. That shows that even if you do something as little as hold a door open for someone, that little act of kindness can go across the world. She definitely had a big effect in the world, a good one. From now on, I will try to do as many kind things as I can because eventually it will come back and help me.

The scariest thing that has ever happened to me was when I was eight. I was innocently playing with my neighbor down stairs in my basement with the window open. All of a sudden a show appears on my wall! The outline of the shadow looked like a mysterious man with a top hat carrying a brief case. It appeared to be walking across my wall! But it only stayed there for about 10 seconds then faded away. You can say that I was pretty scared.
