End Of 7th Grade!!!

Article posted May 18, 2012 at 12:57 AM GMT • comment • Reads 738

7th grade, I must say, was the most complicated year of my life so far! I was able to make it through all this drama and sad moments, and I am very proud of myself! I wish I had gotten better grades and I had hoped that there wouldn't be as much drama or depressing moments but "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!" Right? I learn't that getting mad at a person will only ruin your relationship with them, and I learn't that the hard way. Academically, I learn't that keeping up with homework and getting all that information drilled into my head is quite stressful! I would change the amount of homework because I was so stressed out that I started getting grey hairs, literally! If you wan't to survive 7th grade, my advice is share a locker with someone organized, or carry a bag around filled with your books!

Seedfolk Story!

Article posted May 13, 2012 at 09:15 PM GMT • comment • Reads 452

I think this story so far is about a community that is so different uniting and becoming respectful to one another. The two white people are my favorite because they are actually caring for the girl's plant. The metal flower activity I think was the best because we were able to all come together as a class and make great pieces of art and we were working together to make little gardens!

ITowne Adventure!

Article posted May 13, 2012 at 09:09 PM GMT • comment • Reads 453

I thought it was the best field trip I have ever been on! People there were so helpful and everything was easy to work with! I learned how to speak during a commercial and how to make a commercial. Because I was the TV Reporter! I would have changed the break times. Just extend the time by 5 minutes! The best part was going around eating food and making commercials!!!

My Experience At The World History Fair!

Article posted May 13, 2012 at 09:04 PM GMT • comment • Reads 431

History is important to us today because there is so much valuable information that we can use. Such as how people dressed back in the day or how a normal lifestyle was for a person like Julius Caesar. My guiding question was: Why did Julius Caesar want to become a dictator? The answer is a guess. Julius Caesar most probably wanted to become a dictator because of his father, who was a Roman soldier I believe. He probably looked to him and wanted to be as good as him someday! I learned that Julius Caesar was stabbed 23 times by his best friend. The most interesting part of all of this was presenting to the people at the world history fair because it made me feel smart! I found out that research is not always easy and that it takes time and patience!

I looked at Jazmine's project and she told me about Ancient Greek architecture and how they lived and what they did in those houses. She also showed me the working are for the men which was very interisting and she had made a little clay hammer!! It was awesome!

Me And My World History Fair Project!

Article posted May 11, 2012 at 05:02 PM GMT • comment • Reads 458

I found out that Julius Caesar was born around the time of Jesus' death. I also found out that Caesar was stabbed 23 times to his death. My final project is really hard because of the design that I want to use and im quite nervous to see how it turns out. This is going to help me answer my guilding question because my guilding question is "Why did Julius Caeasr want to become a dictator?" and talking about his life I think will help me answer my question. I think im prepared because I have worked very hard and im not going down without a fight!

Yuck! Dissecting Chicken Wings!

Article posted April 17, 2012 at 01:18 AM GMT • comment • Reads 628

The dissecting of the chicken wings was really disgusting! It was not fun because I was worrying about salmonella the whole time! I dont think it was worth while at all because there wasn't much to it and we could have done something like a video. Although it was horrible, I did learn many things such as the fact that the chicken fat was yellow and the chicken tissues were white.

Baby Tomato!

Article posted April 17, 2012 at 01:14 AM GMT • comment • Reads 475

Hello baby tomato.
you look like a potato.
You are so inspiring,
just like my inner wiring.

I remember when I farted
during a class.
You laughed so much that,
you tripped and fell
on a pile of glass.

That was the end
of you that day,
just like the Jabberwocky
on the planet Locky.

You will be dearly missed,
like my first kiss.
Goodbye little tomato,
may you rest in peace w/ a potato.

Ernest Green In My Eyes

Article posted April 17, 2012 at 01:03 AM GMT • comment • Reads 473

I can absolutely say, that The Ernest Green Story was the saddest movie I had ever seen. I would honestly have fought back and stood up for my friends and family. I think that picking on people that are different is not right and should have never been allowed and honestly people who are still like that in the world as we know it today can seriously find something better to do or should be arrested. Over the years, things have changed because people that are not the same race as most people now have equal rights which is great. However, there is still a lot of racism being spread out through the world and that is a fact. There is still some discrimination occurring in the present because of the KKK and all other school bullies.

My Favorite Quote!!

Article posted April 17, 2012 at 12:54 AM GMT • comment • Reads 441

"How ever far the stream flows it never forgets its source."
- Unknown

This quote is truly special,
Because it speaks and relates to me.
It relates to me like apples to a tree,
And im like a stream flowing towards the sea.
I am a stream because im flowing away from my source,
I move quickly like a main course.
I do miss my home,
Much like a gnome.
But however far I go,
I will never forget the source of my flow.

Cells in Science!!

Article posted February 28, 2012 at 01:28 AM GMT • comment • Reads 588

In science, we have learned many many things including interesing stuff about bacteria and the different parts of a cell. We have learned that the cell membrane allows certain substances into the cell. We also did an experiment with eggs and tested 3 variables and found out that certain substances entered the cell membrane and enlarged the egg. The best thing in science is that we have gotten to use microscopes to observe the cells closely. The worst thing so far is that there is alot of info to take in and to memorise.

Magician's Life!!!

Article posted February 22, 2012 at 02:45 AM GMT • comment • Reads 467

A Magician's Life
By: Michael

Around the magician,
Beyond his vision,
Toward his hands,
At the table,
With playing cards.

Before his performance,
In his heart,
despite his doubts,
behind a prayer rests.

Without an assistant,
During his show,
Along the stage,
Above his audience.

Like a brave soldier,
After his performance,
Within his head,
With thanks the Lord,
Beside his bed.

I have been reading Dork Diaries with my sister. I how the story is put in as a diary. The author of the book is Rachel Renee Russell. I also enjoy the fact that I get to read the story with my little sister. What I dislike about the story is that it uses words that I dont really get and it has slang speech in it.

Poetic Effects!!

Article posted January 29, 2012 at 02:33 AM GMT • comment • Reads 678

Some "tools" that poets use are things that have happened to them. For example, if a poet once went camping and they enjoyed it very much, they might be influenced by their experience. Another "tool" a poet might use are their emotions. For example, if a poet has had a bad experience they might write about their feelings and talk about either being sad or angry. An example is Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss, because it shows lots of excitement and joy. We have been talking about rhyming schemes in stories and how the can show the feelings a poet could have or the story could have.

Take Your Pick

Article posted January 18, 2012 at 02:12 AM GMT • comment • Reads 560

"Believe that you can and you're halfway there."Theodore Roosevelt.
I think this means to believe that you can do something and master it and you are halfway to your success. This could apply to me because I want to have a successul career and believe that it will be successful. This quote could change someone's attitude by allowing them to see success in others by believing then they would learn from others that believe and hopefully that would change their attitude.

The good thing was that we all new what we were supposed to be doing. However, I wish that we could have worked with our groups in person.

Greece!!!

Article posted December 12, 2011 at 11:42 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1244

I am going to talk about my fathers home country Greece!! In Greece, the countries capital is Athens. A special cultural tradition to the Greeks is that on Easter, family and friends gather for a party and play games, and we roast a full lamb. More facts are that in Greece, 94 % of the people are Greek! Also, many Greeks are very well known for their mythology and mathematical principles. One last fact is that I am half Greek!
Now, I am going to talk about what we have been doing in Humanities. At the beginning of our Greek unit, we got assigned our city-states. Megara, Corinth, Sparta, Athens, and Argos. The city-state I received was Megara. Megara is known for its known for its great mathematical abilities. In Humanities, we have to escort the women to their seats. Also, we have to memorize the greak alphabet in a nursery song way!!!

First, I am thankful for my friends and family because they are the ones who complete my life and are always there for me! I am also thankful for amazing teachers who want nothing more but to teach us life lessons and understanding of responsibility and discipline! The last, but not least, the roof my parents have provided over my head, and food to the table that they give! These are the things that I am most thankful for!

Best Mystery I've Read!

Article posted November 11, 2011 at 01:23 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1622

The best mystery that I have ever read is the " Skinwalkers". Its a very scary murder mystery about the Navajo changelings. The author cited many geological facts to make it feel very realistic.

My short mystery starter:

On a dark, gloomy night, I was strolling down Conneticut Avenue.
I heard a sound similar to a hungry lion, munching on a fresh kill, but it sounded a lot louder. Suddenly, a long yell echoed down a alley way.

THE END! FOR NOW!!

Blogging!!!!!!!

Article posted November 4, 2011 at 01:44 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1599

So far while I have been blogging, I have found that it is very easy, and that you just need some focus. I think that blogging can be fun as writing assignments. Because, not only does it teach us grammar and other writing skills, but it allows us to write about things that we enjoy writing about, which is a really nice thing. An idea that we should write about is talking about our favorite dish, and we have to explain why. Overall, blogging has been quite an honor for the past quarter!

Always Remember Essay Rough Draft

Article posted October 28, 2011 at 01:52 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1510

Im going to share my introductory paragraph! Please give me feedback.

" Why is it important to always remember? A good reason to always remember is because it teaches you something important about the past or when you make a mistake. For example, when you touch a very hot stove, you remember to be more observant and careful all the time. Another example would be a patriotic holiday like Veterans Day. It celebrates our soldiers fighting for our country and putting their lives at risk for ours. This holiday teaches us to appreciate what these great men and women have done for our country."

The End!

My Good Book!!!

Article posted October 17, 2011 at 01:27 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1577

The good book I have been reading is "Moonlight on the Magic Flute", by Mary Pope Osborne. I am enjoying the adventure of Jack and Annie, because they meet Mozart and make beautiful music. The thing that I didn't really enjoy was that the book really wasn't serious and some parts just didn't make much sense.

My Choice of What To Write!

Article posted October 6, 2011 at 12:26 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1508

During the summer, I had a trauma accident to my teeth. I was riding my bike, when a bug flew in to my eye. I swerved on my bike and hit my mouth on the handlebars, causing me to flip over my bike and hitting my face on the ground. I was walking toward my friend, crying and bleeding crazily all over the place. I looked like I just got out of a horror movie scene. My body went into chock, wich made me breath really heavily. My father came running to me and sat me down with some ice. I went to the Memorial Hospital and was checked by a doctor. The doctor was given my adult tooth and said "His whole adult tooth came out including the root of his tooth." He grabbed my head and my tooth and shoved the tooth back into my mouth, into my gum socket to be specific. Anyways, since then I got 5 to 6 root canals and have not riden my bike since.

To Ban or Not To Ban?

Article posted October 6, 2011 at 12:03 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1713

I think that books should definitely not be banned. When a person creates a book , and publishes it, they are bringing their opinion into the world, and also providing us info. This means that they have the right to have their Freedom of Speech to speak out to people. We all have the choice of choosing to wright our opinion out on a book or be able to read whatever book we want.

Math!?Huh!?

Article posted October 5, 2011 at 11:58 PM GMT • comment • Reads 678

The old man is totally wrong in this video. You see, he said that 5 doesn't go into 2, which it doesn't. But he was supposed to put the 0 in the quotient, but instead, he skipped to 5 by itself instead of doing 25, which then got him 1. And then since he didn't use the 2, he brings it down to were it is 20, and says that 5 goes into 20 four times. Bringing the wrong answer of 14.

The Funniest Thing That Ever Happened to Me

Article posted September 20, 2011 at 03:17 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1607

When I was on an Greek island named Crete, my family and were walking and I was holding my fathers hand. My father was talking to me while walking and I wasn't paying attention. Instead, I was looking at my father's shoe, because it was untied. I began pointing down and he looked. He let go of my hand, and stopped to tie his shoe. I was walking toward a staircase and tumbled down it. Unfortunately, at the bottom of the staircase, there was a pile of dog poop, which I of course, landed in. My father rushed to me trying not to burst into laughter. He picked me up by my leg and ran w/ me as poop was rushing down my face. He found a hose and rinsed me of really well. That was the end of my crazy day!

What I Think About Rachels Challenge!

Article posted September 11, 2011 at 06:44 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1724

I think that the presentation was spectacular. It was really touching and encouraged many people to do the right thing and be more respectful toward people. The presentation I think was definitely worthwhile and definitely something we needed to look back at and it was something that we need to remember. The presentation was very effective toward people, because it made people get emotional, and made people realize that violence and bulling does not solve problems. I learned in this presentation not to disrespect people and to just tolerate people the way you want to be tolerated.
