A quote I really like is "the only way to have a friend is to be one," by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Friends

There was a girl

She was just mean,

But, she tried being nice just to give it a whirl

She was heard, she was also seen

She was noticed by everyone

And everyone soon did care

When she got a call

Plus twenty friends she could not bare

"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards."     ~Soren Kierkegaard

Things can't be understood until they've happened,

We will have to look back,

But we can't live in the past,

We must live through the future,

You'll look back in a year to it all making sense.

Hello baby tomato.

you look like a potato.

You are so inspiring,

just like my inner wiring.

I remember when I farted

during a class.

You laughed so much that,

you tripped and fell

on a pile of glass.

That was the end

of you that day,

just like the Jabberwocky

on the planet Locky.

You will be dearly missed,

like my first kiss.

Goodbye little tomato,

may you rest in peace w/ a potato.

"How ever far the stream flows it never forgets its source."

- Unknown

This quote is truly special,

Because it speaks and relates to me.

It relates to me like apples to a tree,

And im like a stream flowing towards the sea.

I am a stream because im flowing away from my source,

I move quickly like a main course.

I do miss my home,

Much like a gnome.

But however far I go,

I will never forget the source of my flow.

"Content makes poor men rich; discontentment makes rich men poor."

By Benjamin Franklin.

Money doesn't matter

Happiness is the key

We make happiness

You can't buy happiness

You can't sell happiness

Money can't buy happiness

Poor people have happiness because they make it

Rich people don't have happiness because they are too busy trying to shop for it.

My quote that speaks to me is “Life shouldn’t be measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.”

-Maya Angelou

Life is precious

One day it me not be there

So life to the fullest

And don’t have regrets

When you look back smile because of the wonderful things

Don’t cry because of the bad

Because when it’s all said and done and you’re gone

Your life will be beautiful

And spectacular

So don’t miss a moment

That could take your breath away

"Be yourself; everone else is already taken."  by Oscar Wilde.  I like this quote because I am myself and I don't care what people think of me.  I am who I am.

I Am Who I Am

I like to be me .

I don't want to be you.

I have blue hair.

I am quiet too.

I have a sense of humor.

I am different at home than at school.

I don't care what people think.

I am who I am.

A quote I really like is "Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend"

There was a girl

whose heart was as cold as ice

and there was a girl

who was super nice,

this super nice girl

went up to say hello

but all she got was

"buzz off"

and the girl was deterimined

to make her heart soft,

day after day

she kept showing her love

until one day

when the girl had no choice

but to give back the love.

I have always liked the quote "You miss 100% of the shots you never take." I like this quote because it pertains to hockey. I think it is saying that you have to take chances, because if you don't, you won't know what you missed.

Poem

Hockey, a tough sport

People hitting

People passing

People skating

But, if you don't take shots

You will never score

You miss 100%of the shots

You never take

The quote I chose is 'The destination has no meaning, because the journey is the worthier part' by Joss Whedon.

The Destination Has No Meaning

'The destination has no meaning'

I heard the old man say.

I always keep that in my heart,

The words he said that day.

It was about two years ago,

The day I met that man.

When all day I was thinking,

'Look as friendly as you can'.

I saw the old man walking

As I sat there, playing with hairclips

Then I noticed.

'He's not looking at the places,

But he's looking at the ships!'

'Why don't you care where you're going?'

I asked him with a smile.

'Cause I believe the journey

Is what makes it worth the while.

The destination has no meaning'

Is what I heard him say.

I thought, and wondered to myself,

What does it mean anyway?

I thought and finally figured it out,

The puzzle he had left.

It's not about the destination,

But truly how you felt.

The friends you made,

The cards you played,

And how you used your brain.

The questions asked,

The risks you took,

And how you dealt with pain.

'The destination has no meaning'

I heard the old man say.

I always keep that in my heart,

The words he said that day.

Don't be mean to nerds

You'll be working for one

You'll be single

Broke and bald

And the nerd that you were mean to

Will have the life you could only dream of

One quote that is really inspiring to me is a quote about soccer by Mia Hamm.

She said:

Failure happens all the time. It happens every day in practice. What makes you better is how you react to it.

I try every day in practice to be prefect

But is all that stress really worth it.

I can’t be perfect all the time,

But why do I always worry?

I try so hard not to make a mistake

But how much more can my mind take

When I make a mistake I usually fall,

But now I’m going to stand tall and fix it.

Commitment, toughness

Heart, talent, guts

I live

I don’t have sugar and spice

But I don’t care

First of all, there are many quotes that “speak” to me. I even keep a quote journal and write quotes down that I really enjoy or like. I’ve kept this journal since I was VERY little like 2 or 3 I think. Anyway one of my FAVORITE quotes of all is: “Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense.” ~~~ Mark Overby. I like this quote because it is very true. But the quote that speaks out to me the most is: “Every day is a gift that is why they call it the present.” ~~ Unknown.

When everyday you get a new gift.

You wouldn’t be able to choose.

No, not to be swift.

Then it would be this privilege in which you lose.

When everyday is new,

One never the same as before.

Since you were born you grew.

This is not something to ignore.

When everyday you are in the present.

You are no longer in the past.

This should surly be an event

And this is built to last.

When everyday is sure to have a tomorrow,

When you die is not the end

So don’t be filled with sorrow.

You will still have a friend.

When everyday for the rest of forever

You will be in Heaven,

It will never let you go no not ever.

And you still haven’t liven.

Not all things come out right

Put time

Put effort

And

It will come out right

Like Thomas Jefferson said

“Nothing can stop the man

With the right mental attitude from achieving his goal;

Nothing on earth can help the man

With the wrong mental attitude.”

Achieving your goal

Can be

The greatest thing in life

I love this quote: "I hate losing more than I like winning" By: Charles Barkley

This is inspirational because I'm an athlete

this is 100% true!!

it’s the worst feeling to loose

it’s a great feeling to win but it feels worse to lose!!

Also when it’s a team sport, you ask yourself what could I have done better to contribute

Another life lesson is if you’ve never lost you don’t know what it feels like to win and if you lose you work harder to win!!

My favorite quote is “Never trust a skinny cook” by Iain Hewitson.

The Skinny Cook

Skinny mini really can’t cook

He doesn’t even follow the directions in the book

No fat on his bones

His cooking makes my stomach groan

He is thin and lean, and never tastes his food

Always cranky, never in a good mood

No thyme, pepper, paprika, or salt

It is the skinny cooks fault

A book I have has a lot of quotes, my favorite one is “Real difficulties can be overcome; it is the imaginary ones that are unconquerable.” Theodore N. Vail said that.

When one was young, he had many irrational worries. Then comes a book. Has many stories. With every story, a quote or two. Reading one or another makes a difference. One quote really sticks out to this young man. Sheds some light this quote has done. Relax the worries this quote has done. A different person he has become.

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”—Tim Tebow

--From the book Through My Eyes by Tim Tebow and Nathan Whitaker

Hard Work

So what?

You think you got talent?

Let me tell you something

Having talent doesn’t mean you are good

Especially if you slack off

No matter what you do, work hard

With hard work you will get to the next level

Talent alone will NOT get you there

When you give 100% you will eventually gain some talent

People will notice you are eager to get better

Even if you are not the best, people will notice you

They’ll know you are eager to get better

And give everything you have

"The greatest sweetener of human life is friendship. To raise this to the highest pitch of enjoyment, is a secret which but few discover."

~Joseph Addison

The Meaning of Lifelong Friendship

I believe that friendship is the way to go

Because it helps my friends and me go with the flow

It keeps my frown upside down

And makes me be able to enjoy the day

When it is raised to pure enjoyment

There isn't anything else in the world

That can do that for me

That can make it a treat for a lifetime

But a few people find this

And I am very lucky

But I believe that anyone,

Anyone who searches,

Can find what they're looking for:

Happiness.

A relationship.

It's all right here

You just need to need to know where to look.

This quote really speaks out to me because friendship should not be because the person is popular or rich. Friendship should be true. Friends should just be friends because they know that the other has their back and will never talk behind it. Friends should be able to be friends through rough patches and through soft grass.:)

Friends will never betray you

Nor will they leave you behind

Friends will always be there

In your times of need or greed

Friendship is beautiful

“Successful people don't have fewer problems. They have determined that nothing will stop them from going forward.”

- Ben Carson

I love quotes because they make me think and are good in general. Ben Carson is a great role model and if you read his books, you will see why. For my poem:

Everyone is smart in their own way but not everyone is successful...why?

Everyone has a different perspective,

And these differentiate those people

If a person is chosen to be the 6th best student out of 16 students,

He can either be happy that there are still 10 people behind him,

Or he could think that there are 5 people ahead of him and move forward.

This choice will go a long way to success if he chooses the right one.

However, if he chooses to move forward, then that does not mean he has fewer problems,

That actually means he will have more because he has to work harder.

This is like a friendship.

A good friend will never forget the good things that his friend has done,

But he will always forget what he has done for his friend or the bad things that his friend has done, so that his friendship can last.

There are problems but that doesn't stop the person from moving forward because of his dedication.

Go ahead and find out more about Ben Carson, he shares his personal experiences, and he actually was a terrible student to start with, but now he is one of the best neurosurgeons we have. How?! He shares some fantastic advice and is awesome!

The quote that I have chosen is "When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us." - Helen Keller

When happiness is no longer there

We look for other objects

That think makes us happy

But just because there is a smile on our face

Doesn't mean that's true happiness

No that's false happiness

You can't buy happiness nor receive it

But you have to feel it on the inside

Friends influence decisions

They help you if you're right or wrong

They stick with you from beginning to end

a true friend never lets you down

you can always count on them

and put your faith in them

friends are there to cry to

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." -Dr. Seuss

I think that this is very important like don't be sad of what happened in the past but be happy that you were able to have that oppurtunity instead.

Crying makes you sad

It shows a small sign of weakness

Crying helps and hurts others and yourself

Smiling makes people happy

It makes them wonder why you are happy

You smile because of something good that happened

Crying can mean you were dissapointed with the results

Smile and cry maybe for the same reason but always be greatful and happy for what you did

The quote “Keep calm and carry on.” Used by the British government during the Blitz, speaks to me in the way that when something goes wrong in school or with friends, I repeat that quote in my head. Here is my poem that reflects my thoughts.

When things go sour,

Or the day drags by the hour,

I repeat to myself a simple quote.

A quote that means “don’t freak out,”

A phrase that makes me calm.

So when the bad things come,

And we lose our hope,

I found a quote that "speaks to me"  “Mankind must put an end to war before war puts an end to mankind.” John F. Kennedy. Here is my “Interpretation Poem”

War

The death of one man is a tragedy; the death of millions is a statistic

Only the dead have seen the end of the war

All wars are civil wars, because all men are brothers

When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die

War does not determine who is right, only who is left

In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons

The victor will never be asked if he told the truth

The first casualty when war comes is truth

You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake

“A humorist is a person who feels bad, but who feels good about it.”

by: Don Herold

Guilt

As I stand on stage,

I think of jokes.

Sick humor that people like.

It feels right to give the crowd what they want.

However,

These jokes seem cruel,

Also unreasonable,

Yet as I walk on stage,

Guilt crosses my mind.

Time's fun when you're having flies.

Kermit the Frog

Kermit has dinner

flies covered in sauce

sauted in oil

but be careful not to spoil

he thinks it's such fun

but when he's all done

 he realizes that time flies

just like his dinner

A quote that speaks to me is "A day without laughter is a day wasted"

-anonymus

A day without laughter is a day wasted

life is to short to be sad

it's never to short to be glad

don't ever not laugh

because it's better to laugh at nothing

rather than being sad about something

life is to short to be sad

and a day without laughter

is definitely a day wasted

"It's a great day for hockey." -Bob Johnson

For it to be a great day,

it must be shared with hockey.

To go out and shoot,

no matter the weather.

No matter the time,

even no matter how tired you are.

Stickhandle with obstacles,

get better.

family will be there for you.

Although friends might not

be there for you

or they could betray you

― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

Fun

Remeber everything about you

Inetersted in you

Everywhere you go

Never let go

Don't want to leave you hanging

"Any idiot can face a crisis - it's day to day living that wears you out." is my quote said by Anton Chekhov.

My Poem:

Anyone can face a challenge

Simple things kill you

You can do amazing things when needed

Easy stuff makes you think

Ideas come when most needed

Straightforward things need time

Complicated things take little time

Basic things take much more time

The quote that I decided that was explaining me was "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue it." Walt Disney. I think this because I have dreams and I have something I want to do when I get older, but I don't think I ever really tackle it. This is a poem that I made up to match this quote:

Follow Your Dreams

Follow your dreams,

have courage,

try,

never stop believing,

you will always have a chance,

always believe and,

follow your dreams

My quote is:

Just living is not enough... one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. ~Hans Christian Andersen

Sunshine is so bright

Have a little freedom in yourself

Be a little flower

Just shine all you can

Try your best and believe in yourself

Try to be bigger than a little flower

Keep yourself shining like the sun

And most of all love your life!

Benjamin Franklin once said, "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." Thus far I have experienced neither, but I imagine the quote to be painfully true. And now, more or less as an afterthought, a free verse poem:

In life, nothing can be certain.

Except death.

And taxes.

In rare cases

The latter results in the former.

So when you consider whether or not to live

Do consider death.

And taxes.

The quote I chose was:

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."- Wayne Gretzky

Here is my poem to go with it:

Life is full of opportunities.

If you take a shot and miss, are you a failure?

Trying your best does not equal failure.

The whole point of sports is to take chances and be a risk taker.

When you take a chance will you ever grow from it?

If you don't take a chance you will never move forward.

Are you happy or sad when you take a chance?

When you take a chance, usually something good always comes out of it.

You can never be an athlete if you don't take chances.

~Albert Einstein

With knowledge, you can create.

but only the bare minimum.

with imagination,

one can truly create.

With imagination, anything is possible,

as long as you can imagine, everything in the universe is within your grasp

with knowledge, you can know

but with imagination, you can bring new creations unto hummanity.

Im writing about Albert Einstein’s Quote which is “If you never made a mistake you never tried something new.”

This makes me feel:

Inspired like a student is inspired by a teacher

Happy like I can catch a mystical creature

Filled with hope

Like I cant say nope

Making mistakes isn’t a bad thing

Like I can fly by a swing

Trying new things is great Making mistakes is fate

"You can shed tears that she is gone, or you..." Is a very famous quote from David Harkins.

I was counting on forever,

So why did you go?

We were best friends

Closer then Peanut Butter and Jelly

Like 2 peas in a pod

Yet you let go

You let the cancer win

When you should’ve held on

Many cried for you

When I was in shock

So why did you go?

"Never ever ever give up" by Winston Churchill says something to me. when I go through hard times I try to think of that quote to help me. Here is a poem...

"Working Hard" By Lindsey

When I feel like somethings hard,

I walk into me big backyard,

and think of that mighty quote "Never ever ever give up"

I think about it for a long, long time,

and decide to go to work again.

I work and work and achieve some more.

Finally my work is done.

I say to myself "Never ever ever give up".

Happy Little Accidents

Don’t worry about making mistakes, there are none to be made.

A Happily little accident is easily displayed.

But when they are made don’t be afraid.

Just make up a reason why.

The grass is greener than green because it was in the sun too long.

The sky is light blue because of the white clouds.

I’m wearing a my shirt backwards because I don’t like crowds.

A happy little accident, that’d what it is.

A slight little mess up is not the cause.

A misplacement of the imagination caused for relaxation.

Yes, just a happy little accident… and one very dark blob of green paint.

By kacie

This poem is based on the quote from Jordan W.( his last name is way too long to spell.) The Quote would be 'there are no such things as mistakes, just happy little accidents.'. that's where the title of the poem came from, so yeah. It wasn't one of my best poems ever, I admit, but it's still pretty good.

“STOMP OUT BULLYING “

It is important to me because I was bullied my whole life in my younger years and it hurt a lot it really changes a person.

For me, I was not shy at all but now I am very shy because of bullying.

Every day I come to school thinking why is that person looking at me?

What do those people think about me?

Just a lot of stuff goes through my mind.

So that is why I’m very shy.

It hurts kids a lot when people out there bully others.

Some kids do very bad things to themselves because they are bullied.

It can cause depression and personality changes.

I chose the quote "So long there are men, there will be wars." by Albert Einstein.

Since the beginning of humans,

they've fought.

They make peace that never lasts forever.

They always get into wars.

There is always some kind of trouble they cause,

which lead to wars some of the time.

The only obvious solution to keep away from wars forever,

to wipe them all out.

Which most don't prefer.

"And my fellow Americans:Do not ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.'' -John F. Kennedy.

I chose this quote because we help the country and in return, the country helps us. So does the president. Thats why I chose the quote,'' And my fellow Americans: Do not ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.'' -John F. Kennedy.

On the battlefield where soldiers fight for our country

Sacrifices have been made.

These soliders are unselfish

And pure to their leader.

They don't ask for anything in return.

And some give up everything.

They don't ask what their country can do for them

They ask what they can do for their country.

An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind

Good advice for the human kind

Getting  back at each other is not nice

A lot will pay the price

Let what happens happen and don’t try to change it

Stand by your own belief and defend it

Mental strength and nonviolence are the keys

Together we will ensure peace

"Good enough never is" Debbi Fields. This quote is just so true I couldn't get it out of my head. We never have enough, or something is never just perfect, there's always room for improvement. This is a poem I wrote about this quote.

Good enough won't work

Good enough will never lurk

Around because it never is

We always want

Something better

We say we need perfection

Enough is never quite enough

Good enough never is

My favorite quote is pretty religious, and most would have a hard time understanding it, (also I can't explain it well OR write a poem about it!), so my next favorite saying is "Silence is gold; Duct tape is silver."

“Silence is gold,

Duct tape is silver”

Does this have to rhyme?

Cause then I’m out of luck.

This is very appalling,

That someone might suggest this,

Cause for all the people

Who talk too much,

We are in trouble of having our mouths

Taped shut.

So for those of you who talk too much,

(Including me)

Avoid someone running at you,

With duct tape.

Cause, (if you can’t take a hint),

If someone is running at you,

Trying to tape your mouth shut,

Take a hint,

And just shut up

My Reaction Poem:

To me this means no one can be perfect

Because no one has done only ONE thing.

To me it means that NO ONE is perfect

And THAT makes me want to sing.

Because if everyone was perfect,

I would feel all alone.

I know I'm not perfect,

Yeah right, perfect as a stone!!!

"Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is free will."

Jawaharal Nehru

I really like this quote because I live by this quote! This is really meaningful to me because it is something that will never lie to you. You can always trust that using this quote in every day life will not let you down.

Life

One hand is dealt to you

You have absolutely nothing, at first

Each day you chose a new card

You can pick one that will help your hand

You can pick one that will destroy your hand

I always pick the goods cards

This way at the end of the game

I will have a royal flush and win the prizes.

My quote is “If at first you don’t succeed, skydiving is not for you.” That quote was said by an anonymous person.

Plummet

Falling, falling

Through the ozone layer

Make sure that you say your prayers

Falling, falling

You are terrified and screaming

While the other divers sure are beaming

Falling, falling

Don’t hit the ground

Because you’ll hear a splat-like sound

Falling, Falling

You won’t get the boot

Because after all, you’ve got a parachute

That is my poem that reflects on my quote. Whoever said that sure is a smart guy
