We are a group of 7th graders from Colorado who want to practice our writing and communication skills. We are excited to expand the walls of our classroom and collaborate with other classes! Please leave us comments and your blog URL, so we can respond back to you!

7th grade for me was pretty good. The History Fair for me was successful, but our Science tests we took weren’t. I learned being able to have set schedules for projects was better than doing it by yourself, because I am a person who usually does things at the last minute and it helped out to have dates set for certain things to be turned in. Personally, I learned who is a good influence and who is not. I would not change anything about 7th grade. I think one thing I learned the hard way, was the LA speech, my topic was really hard to research on and Mrs. Lubich helped me through it and I did pretty well after all. I think listening more in class would help me be more “successful”, also talking less in class, besides that nothing really.
For the next year’s 7th graders all I have to say is do your work, and you will be fine!!

I found I-towne to be a great experience. I learned how to run my own business, exchange money, and I also learned about the different cultures and how each one of them had something different. I don’t think I would have changed anything. Probably the best part of I-towne was how we got to actually buy items with fake money, and also how we got to wear the hats.

History played a big part of who we are today, they created things and did things that we have changed or improved. My guiding question was,”How did King Tut impact us today?” Researching about King Tut didn’t tell me a lot about what he did, it seemed as if he didn’t impact us with his actions but just by finding his tomb in almost perfect condition made him important.
I learned what other people did and made that had gotten us certain things today. When I went around looking it was interesting to look what their 3-D or 2-D object was. One girl made a bridge out of Styrofoam and it was really cool, and then also one girl made a paper machete building. One girl also explained what the Romans (I think it was) ate. What foods they didn’t know of at the time and how they made it.

I haven’t really been able to read the book a lot so I still have not finished it yet, I am about half way done and it is really good. I like how the book is different than most, like when they switch to a different character every chapter to get each other’s point of view of the community/garden. I think it is mainly about a community who can come together by something such as a garden, and what the little things in life can do. My favorite character so far is the little girl who had started the garden. My favorite activity would probably be the rock painting because it was fun to express our own style, the other activities didn’t really do that but they were also fun.

I decided to just find a random quote because, this is one of my favorites, it is inspiring and means a lot. When I found this poem I loved it because when I was younger my mom and relatives would tell me the key to life was happiness, so it kind of reminded me of my childhood.
"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life."

My topic hasn’t created much change that I know of, besides responsibility. I found out a whole bunch of information that started to make me think about my claim statement. It is going alright so far. I'm far from ready, and nervous!!

I guess it was fun when we dissected the chicken wing, personally I found it disgusting haha. I learned about how the chicken wing is set up with all the bones, ligaments and muscles. It was worth while because it was an experience because I don’t think this is something I would have dealt with in the future, well most likely not.

One of my best poems I think was Forever young
“Forever Young”
I am an old tree
That only few have seen
That only some have talked to
I am a teddy bear
In need of a hug
In need of a warm shoulder
I am a soldier
A fighter
A winner
I am an old painting
Many have bought
Few who actually take the time to see what it’s worth
I am an old friend
Not forgotten
I am a free soul.

When I watched The Ernest Green Story I could not believe people lived in that kind of world I guess I can say. I wouldn’t have been able to do what Ernest did and stand up and fight back. I do not think discrimination is right I find it pointless. We are all people and we all deserve to have equal rights. Things have changed a lot since back then. It doesn’t matter where blacks or whites sit. Everyone is allowed to vote. There are no “whites” and “blacks” drinking fountains. Yes people do still discriminate, but we cannot change who people are.
