I think the experience was good. I really think it will help all of us on later on in our lives. I learned a lot about trade and economy and how you have to just charge through the problems you face (finacially too). If I could change anything it would be to go to International Towne for a longer period of time it was so much fun!!!! Everything was the best part.

World History

Article posted May 14, 2012 at 02:33 PM GMT • comment • Reads 393

World history is very important to people. For some it is an interesting topic. Others think it is just something to learn about. World history can help later on in life. What if you never learned about your culture or heritage? What if you didn't know what customs you had to follow? What if you didn't anything about the past? Even history that didn't affect the world is important. You learn how to handle situations better then you did before. You learn how to overcome your fears. I learned not to brag because maybe I just might get snakes for hair like Medusa. I also learned to not use (for girls) beauty as a charm or I might just be able to turn people into stone like Medusa. The most interesting part to me is how much I learned about history and lessons I could use later on in life.

The other seventh graders had some really nice projects. I learned quite a bit. I learned that the Trojan War was over a woman (Haha silly men). I also learned about ancient arcitechture (very interesting displays). Also I learned about a lot of ancient, important people. That was a fun day I am glad we had it.

Seed Folks

Article posted May 10, 2012 at 08:43 PM GMT • comment • Reads 541

Seed Folks was a good book and I thought the format was different and I liked it because you got a different perspective from everyone. I like all the characters and I think the big idea is how one little change can make a big difference and bring a lot of people together even when you dont know eachother. I thought the activities were fun and I liked making flowers the best it took away math time. Hehe.

Speech

Article posted April 22, 2012 at 09:18 PM GMT • comment • Reads 587

I am almost ready just a couple of steps. One of those would be mentally preparing because I have to explain my project and be very clear on it so no one gets confused. Putting everything together is one step and that counts for a lot because you want it to be interesting and not something boring that no one wants to hear about. It is all coming together and that always makes me happy.

School

Article posted April 22, 2012 at 09:12 PM GMT • comment • Reads 649

It goes by fast
But no one can wait to get out
Some people don't want to leave
But most others do

There isn't a huge time span between grades
But we are happy we get the summer off
(but we will miss all of our teachers)
We will see them again soon

It's just a chapter of our lives
And sometimes it may suck
And sometimes it may not suck (as bad)
But we all (somewhere down inside us)
Can't wait to come back

I Wish

Article posted April 5, 2012 at 09:58 PM GMT • comment • Reads 421

I wish
I was a star
up high in the sky
shining so bright
but still so far
but all eyes
are on me
I wish
I was a cloud
pure and clean
fluffy and moist
and with many feelings
I wish
I was a bird
able to fly
and sore and live...
so freely
I wish
I was thunder
loud and fearless
yet still feared
and mighty in the sky
I wish
I was a star
all eyes on me

The Little Rock Nine

Article posted March 15, 2012 at 10:36 PM GMT • comment • Reads 603

My reaction to the story was anger. It was anger towards the high schools students and teachers. Everyone was being completely unfair and ridiculously judgemental. I would have tried to be friends with them and not care what everyone else thought I would stick up for them and try to help rather than leave them hanging by a thread. I would try my best to carry on with the fight and not back down. I would see my future from going there and compare it to the future I had at the other school and see how much better it would be. I thought that all of those kids were brave. For all of them to be able to stand all the rude things that were said and all those parents and students yelling at them in such an inappropriate way and they could put all of that to the side (for temporary moments) just amazed me. It also showed me that everything can be possible but it's never easy. In the south it is still the same mostly. There hasn't been a whole lot of change but there has been. It amazes me that after all these years we still discriminate people just because of their race or religion even the way they dress. It is wrong but I don't think it will ever stop in this world.

Quote Poem

Article posted March 1, 2012 at 11:17 PM GMT • comment • Reads 598

A quote that speaks to me is "A day without laughter is a day wasted"
-anonymus

A day without laughter is a day wasted
life is to short to be sad
it's never to short to be glad
don't ever not laugh
because it's better to laugh at nothing
rather than being sad about something
life is to short to be sad
and a day without laughter
is definitely a day wasted

Cells Are Small

Article posted February 23, 2012 at 01:23 AM GMT • comment • Reads 845

Cells are very small, so small that you need a microscope to see them. Some cells are hard to find especially when they are moving it is hard to observe them because they are hard to catch. Some cells are not hard to find and some stay still. We have a test this week on cells and the study guide really helps. There are some things about cells that are hard to understand but it isn't as hard of a concept as I thought it would be.

Preposition Poem

Article posted February 16, 2012 at 03:04 AM GMT • comment • Reads 796

Around the clock
on the wall
from dawn until dusk
during the day
over and over it goes
through all the hours
inside the house
out on the road
through the fields of time
toward the end
on store shelves
behind the glass
with you until the end
up on top of all.

I am reading the book Coraline by Neil Gaiman. I love this book so far. I saw the movie and others say it is creepy well I say it is fantastic. I wanted to see how the book was like and I think the fact that I saw the movie and have heard all the voices really makes the book come to life for me.

Songs

Article posted February 3, 2012 at 04:38 PM GMT • comment • Reads 785

Songs have different moods to give to people. Some songs make people happy, or sad, or angry. They basically give off a certain message or they are just made for entertainment. All songs are saying something even if they are just ment for entertaining the rtist is trying to put a message out there. Well at least that's what I think. Sometimes songs can tell a story or they can describe how the artist feels. Songs can seem to tell the story of someone elses life and whether it is good or bad. Sometimes the song is uplifting and it talks about how your life can be bad and then turns into a good life. Songs can be inteprated in different ways but there is always a message that the artist is trying to put through.

Words That Change

Article posted January 27, 2012 at 04:00 AM GMT • comment • Reads 834

Poets use a lot of things in their poetry to get the readers attention. They use things like similes. They also try to detail their poetry to try to get the reader to use their five senses(sight, smell, hearing, taste, and feeling). When the poet gets the reader to use their five senses the reader becomes hooked on the poem and reads it over and over. Things like "The dew smelled wet and fresh as my shoes got soaked because I walked through the fresh cut grass" gets the readers attention. Once the reader has read the poem so many times they will finally realize what it means and it can impact them and their world.

Quotes

Article posted January 18, 2012 at 10:27 PM GMT • comment • Reads 726

I chose quote 5 "love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend" which was said by Martin Luther King Jr.. I think this quote is trying to tell us that if we want an enemy to be our friend we can't hate them or show disrespect towards them. You have to care for them and show the kindness. I can apply this to my life because there have been times where I have hated people but that hatred is something you would have to live with for your whole life and it is hard to move on from. This quote can definetly make a positive attitude change in someones life. Take maybe a bully for example they hate everyone except for their little possies. If they took this quote to heart they could learn to bring in others to life instead of pulling them away and being the enemy (in this case) to others. The world is a very confusing place and a lot of people can hate eachother and others. If people could hear this quote and decide to do something maybe everyine could become friends with the people they hate and the world wouldn't be such a dangerous place. This quote can make an impact on everyone even those who don't think enemies could ever be friends.

New Years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Article posted January 12, 2012 at 03:23 AM GMT • comment • Reads 782

In this new year change is a huge thing for me. I want to change the way I react to things. Sometimes I will react to things to seriously even when someone is joking. I also don't look at the good things of suggestions I only look at the bad things that it has to offer and don't accept the change. I think that changing the way I react will help me look at things so much better and into a good deep thought which makes this change important to me.

Wiki Reflection

Article posted December 16, 2011 at 09:44 PM GMT • comment • Reads 938

I think this project went well but it was very stressful at some points. Such as the discussion beacuase we didn't know who was on at what time and there was so many discussion tabs we had to look at every conversation to make sure we didn't miss something. This was also hard because our groups were not in our classes and weren't in our state. My poet was also hard to find information on but we found some=http://!! Ther communication wasn't as easy as i thought but it wasn't as hard either I guess I could say it was in the middle.

Dear Everyone,

I would like to thank everyone I have ever known, or been friends with for being there for me and always by my side. Though I said to everyone there is one person to thank that is very special to me. This person is my mom. I know you haven't been here for a while but you will be in my heart no matter where you go. I am counting the days but while I am counting please know I am so thankful for having you in my life and I don't know what I would do without you here I will see you soon

Thanks & Giving

Article posted November 25, 2011 at 02:12 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1131

I am greatful for so many things but the three major things I am greatful for are my friends, my family, and soccer. I am thankful for my friends because they stand with me through thick and thin and they are true friends who will always be there for me no matter what. Those friends are very rare and hard to find and I am lucky to have them. I am so thankful for my family because they are amazing and love me so much and I love them too. I am thankful for soccer because it is a sport I love and I am so greatful to have the oppritunity to play because many kids will never get or ever had the same oppritunity. I am thankful for everything I have and I hope everyone is thankful for everything they have and have been given.

I think it is good only one blog is due every week because it is hard for me to get some blogs in but I find blogging kind of fun for some odd reason because some othr people don't like this idea.I do wish we could write about what we want to write about more than we have beacause I don't find prompts that are made for us intersesting. Ithink blogging helps us with our typing skills and will also help us in the future.

Facebook Use is it Bad?

Article posted October 23, 2011 at 10:12 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1442

I read the article in NY Times Student Connections. This article talked about students and if facebook was a bad thing for them or a good thing. There were many things positive about facebook and many negatives so they both crossed eac hother out. Though in my personal opinion it depends on the student. If the student cares about their education then their time on facebook is there choice. On the other hand those students who dont care about their education choose to use facebook more then other students. So, if you ask me it would all depend on the student and where they want to go in life.
Another thing I learned in this articl is that people don't really notice my theory. All they notice is how much time people spend on facebook and if those people are doing well in school. Facebook isn't a bad thing it's just the people who have a facebook account can decide to do bad things from it. Other people decide to be on facebook 24/7 which causes them not to do homework or go outside and things like that. Thats why i say it all depends on the person and how they are deciding when to use facebook and how long they use it for.

How Far

Article posted October 10, 2011 at 01:28 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 1637

I looked up at the stars and asked myself how far? Then my mom walked in and asked “how far what”? When I turned and saw her she had the “why aren’t you in bed” look on her face. I started crying and she knew why. She walked over and held me. My older sister, Sarah, walked over and asked what was going on. She stared at me dead on in the eyes then she got the memo. A tear rolled down her cheek she looked at the picture of daddy on my night stand. It had been almost a year since daddy died and I still hadn’t moved on while every other member of my family did. I didn’t understand how they got through the pain. To me it was too hard when you get that news and you’re the one who answered the door to get the letter just makes it harder. They didn’t understand that. My aunt (who hates me) thinks I am faking but, you can’t fake this kind of pain. If my aunt got it her way she would have made me admit to every single person in my family that I was “faking” my pain. How could I fake this though it was already hard enough to have him on the other side of the world but then some stranger comes up to your door tells you Mrs. Drew I am truly sorry for your loss and walks to his red dune buggy and drives off. The man, that stranger that just ruined your life forever doesn’t care you just got news your father died he just came to deliver the message. After that day (August 3rd 1999) everything was different for me. People at my school who I thought were my friends didn’t even care my dad just died while saving their country none appreciates a soldier unless they are important to then. Not me though I said thank you to every person in a camouflage suit at the airport, in the Wal-Mart, at target everywhere! Nobody knew how close me and my dad were. Usually the relationships with fathers are with their sons rarely with their daughters. Everyday we would go to the park and play soccer. He would always go for a run with me and pick me up and have me ride on his shoulders on our way to the ice cream shop (I never knew he had his wallet with him). This is what I was thinking about that night and that’s why I asked the question how far. In my head I was supposed to say more then how far I was supposed to say the real whole question. I needed to ask someone “how far is it to the stars? Daddy always talked about how every night he dreamed I would touch them one day”. Now I wanted to make his dream come true. I wanted to make our dream come true.

Band Books Week

Article posted October 2, 2011 at 09:16 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1311

Band Books Week has an impact on many people. Well I feel that this is offending the authors of the books because this is their creation that they are proud of and sure we aren't going to like some books but that doesn't mean we can just go and trash them or ban them. If people haven't noticed others might like these books. Yes we have our opinions which is where our freedom of speech comes in but don't take the books you don't like away especially if many people like the book or the books. I personally think books shouldn't be ban because you are taking someone’s chance to read a new book and maybe even like that book away from them. I also believe that we all have the choice to choose these are books coming out of our local libraries, our school libraries etc. So yes I believe that we all have a right to choose which books we like and dislike. Even though we choose what books we like and dislike does not mean we can take away a book from others who would like to read something new.

My favorite activity during our feild trip would have to be the team building activities. The activities didn't just teach us to work together but they taught us to listen to each other and try every idea because your idea may not be the best way to work through the problem. The activities also taught us to come together as a team and to have fun with our team or group no matter who was in it.I also enjoyed the team building the most because they were the most enjoyable part to me.

What I just saw was math being done the wrong way. Now if Mr. Howard were to show those guys how to do it these videos wouldn't have been here in the first place. What I also saw in these videos was funny math but still incorrect and obviously those guys did NOT go to school. The other numbers you can do this with are 4)24(15. I figured this out by guessing and checking.

Rachel

Article posted September 9, 2011 at 12:55 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1641

The Rachel’s Challenge assembly was very effective to me because it is a great girl’s story to be told and shared. It amazes me that her little acts of kindness affects millions of people all over the nation. I also think it is worth the time because it can not only help us as students but as people as well. Also I think we need this assembly because there are some people who can’t give out kindness as well as others and maybe this will help them share there kindnesses way deep down in them. This presentation is a beautiful presentation because they show her spending time with her family and friends and just having good times. It also shows the stories her friends and family shares and how much they love and miss Rachel and how they also knew her as a great person. This presentation is so effective to everyone they show it to because it touches there hearts and it has touched mine as well and has taught not only me but many other people to be kind and to show love to people and compassion and how far a little kindness can go. I also think that when others say it shows how we should be compassionate to others and that they learn to be more caring that this is not just to teach about caring and loving one another. It is also  about a tragic day that has changed many peoples lives, but, it's also a day that has had a positive impact throughout the nation. I also wish that they would also commend the other young souls that died that day because Rahel's family isn't the only family that has gone through and still is going through a rough time. Yet,I still have changed a lot from this ceremony and I still do because I may not be nice to everyone all the time but I’m definitely getting better with it. This ceremony has touched many peoples hearts and always will.
