Happy, happy new year! It's a fresh start with a clean slate and I'm ready to take advantage of it!

Last year/semester, I was WAY behind. I had a lot of missing and late assignments, so this year, I want to get out there and have no missing or late work and get good grades. I'm going to aim for no C's.

I've already been trying this out, and I'm on a roll! I finish all my homework the night it's assigned, and I even get to the bus early.

I have learned quite a bit about Greece. I learned about the city-states of Greece: Corinth, Sparta, Megara, Argos, and... Drumroll, please... *drumrollI* ATHENS=http://=http://=http://!!! (Yeah, it's pretty obvious that I'm an Athenian)
All tables have been split up into their own city-state and tey compete against each other. They even have their own chant, Hand shake and flag!!!
I also learned about the Greek social pyramid and the rights of women. I learned about many things, but too many to name.

What I'm Thankful For

Article posted December 16, 2011 at 02:23 AM GMT • comment • Reads 466

First, I'm thankful for my family. They're always there for me and ready to defend me. Next, I'm thankful for my friends. WIthout my friends, I don't know what I would do. My life would be nothing but a boring gray blob. They're always there when I need help, and always make me smile. I'm also thankful for being able to get an education. There are kids in foreign countries who can't afford an education. They can't go to school and learn. Without school, I couldn't know all the things I know now. I wouldn't know my friends. I wouldn't know any of the wonderful, amazing teachers I know.

Blogging

Article posted December 16, 2011 at 02:11 AM GMT • comment • Reads 908

I'm not really sure what to say... I haven't really been keeping up... I think that maybe blogs should be an in-class assignment. As homework, it's hard to keep up with, but if we do it in class, we can just get it done right then and there.

It's a Mystery...

Article posted December 15, 2011 at 01:21 AM GMT • comment • Reads 847

The best mystery story I have ever read is "The Pit and the Pendulum" by Edgar Allan Poe. Poe wrote it as if you were in that man's position. He made it feel like you were staring death in the face like the main character was.

A start for a mystery... okay, here's a start for a half mystery half horror.

STEP. STEP. STEP. This was the sound of Cassey's footsteps as she walked around her house. She was a diabetic and needed to take a walk every night. It was too cold to go outside to walk, so she walked inside. As she passed her large front window, something caught her eye from across the street. A man was staring at her through his window with binoculars. "That's weird," Cassey said to herself. As Cassey continued her walk, the man kept staring at her. For a minute he went away, but then Cassey looked out her window and saw that the man had reappeared OUTSIDE HIS HOUSE. Cassey felt a tingle of fear, but ignored it and continued her walk. About ten minutes later, the man disappeared again, and this time, he reappeared in the middle of the cul-de-sac Cassey lived on. "This just gets stranger and stranger," Cassey said. At last, she had finished her walk and sat down on the couch for a moment to relax. "Maybe that man will leave me alone now," she thought. After another minute or two, she headed to the kitchen to fix her supper. As she passed the front window, she saw the man standing at the beginning of her driveway. Cassey instantly began to panic and became very scared. "This has gone too far," she said, and rushed to her phone to dial 911. She dialed the number and just to be sure, she looked out the window, and saw that the man was now in the center of the driveway. He was too far away and it was too dark to see is face. "What is doing and why?!" Cassey thought.

Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!

Article posted October 22, 2011 at 12:55 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1583

I am writing about an article about a man who owned many wild and exotic animals.

http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20111021/ap_on_re_us/us_exotic_animals_loose

Terry Thompson was caring for exotic animals such as lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!). He suddenly let all of the animals loose and committed suicide this week.

Hmm... I'm not really sure what to think about this. It's very sad, not just for him, but the animals, too. The police department was given orders to hunt down and kill them (some were taken to the zoo, though). This also makes me somewhat mad. He was once charged for animal abuse in the past, and the animals he owned did not have large enough enclosures. A monkey could not stand up in its enclosure, and a wolf was kept in an old broken down car.

So... I'm not really sure what to think. It's very interesting.

Creepy Things

Article posted October 12, 2011 at 05:28 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1552

Things that are creepy:
Clowns. One of the reasons is that people see movies that have clowns that are trying to kill people or are actually some type of creature. They’re creepy!
The undead. Okay, zombies are just weird, and aren’t very creepy at all. It’s the undead things you don’t really see everyday. Like zombies. For example, ReDeads (They’re from my favorite video game, Legend of Zelda if you’re wondering where they came from). They are mostly found underground, and are like vampires in a way. But they are SO WEIRD and SO CREEPY!
Squid. Now, before you think I’m afraid of squid, I like squid. They’re cool, but sometimes can be weird and somewhat creepy.
