7th grade was definitely a good year; I really noticed the change in the amount of homework I got: P I was successful because I maintained my 4.0 GPA, even through the hard times. I wasn't successful with my goal at the beginning of the year which was not to get any A-'s which I didn't keep up with, but that is alright. I learned that I had terrible time management skills and that I didn't have a very long attention span...: P I need to change the way I spend time on things because as I said, I have the worst time management skills. I had to learn how to get everything done the day I got it, because until I learned how to do that, I had to stay up really long doing homework and I didn't do my best on it, since I just wanted to get it done, so I had o learn to do that the hard way. I would like to study a lot more next year because now I know how to use my time more wisely and my friend who is a current 8th grader told me that the tests were probably the hardest part of eight grades. My advice for the incoming 7th graders is to not procrastinate!! Procrastination is going to kill you in 7th grade! I had to learn that the hard way too...

I thought I-Towne was a lot of fun. For some reason I thought it going to be a little bigger but that really didn't make a big difference. It was definitely a experience that I think we could all learn form. I thought I learned a lot even from when we started preparing. I learned what I need to do on a job application, and I could take in this to know how to make the poeple want me to work wherever I want to work. I also enjoyed the trip very much. I enjoyed being a finance minister because I liked dealing with the money. The only thing I wished was different was how long the breaks were because it wasn't veryt long...I think the best part was the hats!! I know a lot of people didn't like them, and I probably looked a bit weird, but I loved them sooo much!! Hahaha!! Anyways, I really liked I -Towne!!!

World History influences our lives today because their experiences show us what works well and what doesn't and so we know what the best option is form their experiences. My guiding question was how does the Sun Temple compare and contrast to other temples? I found out a lot about the arts and the structure of the temple. The most interesting part of the temple was that there is a palm-leaf manuscript that describes in detail the building operations of the temple.
I definitely learned a lot during the 30 minutes we had to explore, I learned a lot about a lot of cultures and I saw a lot of boards on Rome and Julius Caesar and I learned about writing, Japanese kimonos, food, and soooo much more!!

I think that this book conveyed a good message about how a community came together to do something they all enjoyed, but I thought the book was boring and found the format hard to follow. I really didn't have a specific character that I liked or disliked. My favorite activity would probably be Mr. Howard's flowers because they were recycled and they were really pretty, and it was really fun!

My topic is on the Sun Temple in Konark, Orissa. This temple has created change because there is a palm-leaf manuscript recording all the details in the building operations. This provides us with information about how some temples could have been built and educates us on architecture because if the temple was build in A.D. 1250, and is still standing today, then there construction must have been really good. I found out a lot on this temple, including that this temple actually existed... :) My final project is coming along well I just have the display board and visual display left to do. This has helped me question about how this temple was different because there were many facts that were really interesting and different from other temples in this temple. I really want to go to Orissa now and see that temple!!

Spring is an awesome season!!! Other than fall, I love the spring season because it starts to get warmer!! I love the warm weather but I hate it when it's scorching. Spring also is a great season because flowers start blossoming and for some reason that makes me happy...that's really weird...haha Anyways, I really LOVE SPRING!!

I personally wasn't very thrilled to dissect the chicken wing because I just felt like I was surrounded by a bunch of living flapping chickens and chickens freak me out so I was very uncomfortable with that. Our chicken wing also started bleeding which again, blood freaks me out because I always get something like a vision of a random heart that jumps around spurting out blood and that just really freaks me out, so yeah I did not like that experience!! I guess it was a good learning experience because we were able to see the bones, muscles, tendons, etc. It was a good learning experience but I was definitely uncomfortable!!!

I wrote about a tea monster for my monster poem for the poetry collection. I LOVE TEA!!! hahaha I am actually drinking ice tea right now! hahaha
“The Tea Monster”
The tea monster has woken up,
And is now following you,
With its slimy, green tea legs,
That’s made out of green tea and slime,
It walks with you everywhere.
It loves to drink tea,
Including sweet tea, lemon tea, green tea,
Bubble tea, chai tea, black tea,
Iced tea, oolong tea, and even herbal tea!!
But beware,
He had once lived with a witch,
And he knows how to make a potion,
That will indeed make you a tea monster too!
Then you have to roam around,
Looking for different teas so that you stay alive,
And obsessing over tea, and only tea!
So stay away from the tea monsters because,
THEY ARE DANGEROUS!!!

When we watched the Ernest Green Story, it did make me kind of mad, but it made me think that it was really unfair because they are people just like whites and they also have the ability to succeed, again using Ben Carson as an example, and I felt really bad for them. I would have had the courage to continue on because I know how important it is to study and I would have tried my best to not notice anything else. Things have definitely changed because we think of Blacks just as others and they are not disrespected. There is still discrimination because there is still racism and people are judged by how they look and what they do. For example, when I was younger, my karate instructor paired me up with one kid every time because he was a little silly. My instructor knew I could take care of him like a little brother. One day, my instructor told us to find a partner that was just as "good looking" as us, so I went up to the kid to be partners, but he said he could not be with me because I was much darker than him. Of course I was somewhat offended, but I was pretty okay with it. For the next few weeks, I did not see the kid for a while, and finally about two weeks later, he came back and was friendly with me again. After the class, he asked me if he could talk to me, and so we went to the side of the room, and I remember exactly what he said. He said, "I am really sorry of what I said to you two weeks ago. I didn't realize how rude it was and how much it could have hurt your feelings." I was really surprised because I almost forgot that incident, and I told him it was fine, and we were good. When we went back to our parents, his dad told me and my mom that the reason he hadn't come to karate for so long was because after he realized how rude his words were, he couldn't stop crying. He thought he couldn't see me again because I would be mad at him. I thought that was really sweet even though we were like eight, and I always remember that, and I just wish that everyone would realize how rude our words could be and how much it could upset someone. Hopefully everyone will have the heart to not judge people by their color or anything else!

“Successful people don't have fewer problems. They have determined that nothing will stop them from going forward.”
- Ben Carson
I love quotes because they make me think and are good in general. Ben Carson is a great role model and if you read his books, you will see why. For my poem:
Everyone is smart in their own way but not everyone is successful...why?
Everyone has a different perspective,
And these differentiate those people
If a person is chosen to be the 6th best student out of 16 students,
He can either be happy that there are still 10 people behind him,
Or he could think that there are 5 people ahead of him and move forward.
This choice will go a long way to success if he chooses the right one.
However, if he chooses to move forward, then that does not mean he has fewer problems,
That actually means he will have more because he has to work harder.
This is like a friendship.
A good friend will never forget the good things that his friend has done,
But he will always forget what he has done for his friend or the bad things that his friend has done, so that his friendship can last.
There are problems but that doesn't stop the person from moving forward because of his dedication.
Go ahead and find out more about Ben Carson, he shares his personal experiences, and he actually was a terrible student to start with, but now he is one of the best neurosurgeons we have. How?! He shares some fantastic advice and is awesome!

In the house
Of the Selvam'
Above the dining room
Through the window
On Valentine's Day
Across from my mirror
Around the room
From my mirror
From IKEA
Inside it's orange
Around the room
Past my bed
Against the wall
For the pictures
Among them all
Past my closet
With no damage done ;)

There are many cells in a living body; in fact, the Cell Theory states these three things:
1. Cells are the basic units and functions of life
2. All living things are composed of cells
3. All cells are produced by other cells
I have really enjoyed this unit, and found it interesting to see that these cells have even tinier parts inside them!! I have always been interested in the medical field (I want to become a doctor when I grow up), so as we learn these small things, they really build up. I wouldn't say I had a famous part, because I honestly liked the whole unit, but if I had to choose, it would be when we looked up tiny things under microscopes...IT WAS SO COOL!!

I am not currently reading any book, but I may find one soon. Since I do not have a book to talk about at the moment, I thought I would talk about a book called Gifted hands: the Ben Carson story: the remarkable surgeon who gives children a second chance at life by Ben Carson. Ben Carson is a very talented neurosurgeon, and in this book, he talks about his childhood and how he became such a successful surgeon. Some people may say that this book is either for adults or for nerds. I don't think that is true, I think anyone could read this book, it is very inspiring. My mom showed me this book, and at first I was not very interested, but as I got into the book, I found it very inspiring because, I want to become a doctor myself, not a surgeon, but preferably a physician or any type of doctor. If you are the type of person who wants to be smart but is afraid of what other people would say about you, this book is really helpful. I really liked this book and didn't feel as scared to "be a nerd" and let out my inner person.

One thing many people don't know about me is that I dance. I know, I don't seem like the person who is into dancing but, well, I am!
However, the dancing I do is not like ballet or hip hop, it is a very unique type of dance called Bharathanatyam, specifically the kalakshetra style. As you can tell by the name, it's an indian dance. If you are interested, there are many videos on youtube you could look at. The dance may seem easy to some poeple, but it defenitely is not. It requires heavy foot work and immense balance. There are many poses, enough that you could say that more than half of the poses require you to balance on one foot. However, this dance is very ammusing and whenever I perform, I always get compliments.

Poets could use many literary terms to make the poem worth a lot. I enjoy poems with imagery, which is when poets use words that appeal to our five senses. I think imagery is important because then the readers could picture what the poet is trying to say. If the poem is trying to tell you how to be a role model, then you could picture how respected you would be. For example, if the line says, “The meadow was very magical, with the green grass, and the sun beaming on it." You could imagine a very beautiful image of a meadow in your head. Imagery is definitely one tool poets use to both entertain and motivate the reader.

“Believe you can and you're halfway there."
~Theodore Roosevelt
I think this quote is a great quote to take into our lives and follow. I think that basically what it is saying is that if you believe in what you are doing, then you are halfway to succeeding in that. Unless you believe that you can do it, you can't succeed in anything. I could apply this quote to my life because I know that I am really negative with myself and can be harsh with myself at times. I would get frustrated and think that I'm not good at it and I can't do it. I think this quote would be great to take into my heart and actually start following it. This quote could definitely be used to make a positive change in someone's attitude because if someone can believe in what they do, then it makes it a lot easier to succeed in many other things, which could change the negative attitude of someone. This quote could make an impact on the world because of everyone believed in what they did, and then the world could make a lot more things possible. As you can see, this quote could motivate you immensely, and can really have an impact on you.

My first goal is to be more efficient. I find that I spend to much time on one thing and then work until 10:00 p.m. ON HOMEWORK!!! The changes involved to reach this goal are that I will be writing out a complete schedule and spend equal amounts of time on each subject, and I will have to learn to stay focused. My next goal is to wake up earlier. I always find that when I wake up early, I am very calm and I get more done in the mornings, which is very good because your brain is "fresh" and open. The changes involved to reach this goal is to not sleep too late, and to get used to waking up earlier. I think goals are great for every new year because they always make you feel good and makke things easier for you as you get used to them, of course I have many more goals then the ones I listed here, and I will come up with more as the year goes on.

My group did pretty well on our wiki page and we did and AMAZING job of communicating and over all it went well with splitting the work up. It was a good opportunity for us to learn how to communicate when they aren't right next to you!! Our communication was very effective because we knew EXACTLY what everyone was supposed to do and there was no confusion. As a difference, I think we could have added a little bit more information rather than focusing on the format. The only feedback that I would give is to spend a little more time on the wiki and please explain the wiki a little more detailed to start with!!!

I don't know much at all about Greece except that they worship many Gods and created a lot of myths. In humanities, basically we had to choose a polis and we get points for things like doing our homework and warmups and etc. My team is Argos...Go Argos!! Woop!!! hahahaha We are also memorizing the Greek alphabet, which I didn't think was all that hard because I got it memorized on the first day, but yeah, I'm enjoying this unit=http://

My favorite part about holidays is that every holiday has its own unique feel. I love Christmas because not only do you get presents :) but it's also a very joyful holiday!! My favorite part is dressing up for it because I just think that dressing up for Christmas is fun!! Hahaha I know, that's a great reason!! I got my idea from my mom when I asked her what I should write about...hahaha :D

There are many things in the world that we forget to think about like how that does not need to be there. For example,I am really thankful for my friends because they are the people who I could tell anything and trust them, and they will always have my back. However, they do not have to be my friends, but they gave me and oppurtunity.I am also thankful for my teachers because they spend a lot of time and put up with all the silly things we do...haha. The last thing that I am REALLY thankful for my parents. I know I don't show my appreciation because my mom is always mad at me because she does so much for me, and I don't do anything for her. However, I am very truly thankful to both of my parents for giving me whatever I want and whatever I need, and I try to keep them happy, but that doesn't always work... I love both of them and love anyone who cares about me!! Thanksgiving is a holiday to think about how great our lives are!!

I think my favorite story was "What Comes Around Goes Around." I thought this story was suspensful and short...:D I also likes this mystery because I thought there was a lot of distractions that led the reader off of what was really going to happen. Now for the mystery...
It was a dark, cold, chilly night, and you could hear the wolves howling. Something had given me the creeps, but I felt like something was following me behind. I turned around to find a rock behind me. I found a rock, so I continued to walk. However, I did not remember looking at any rock on the way, so I took another look... This time I found a somewhat large puddle. Again, I knew I didn't see anything like that on my way. I got scared and tryed to call my mom, but I had no signal.
I really don't know why, but I always think of something dark, and chilly when I think about a mystery.

At first, when Mrs. Lubich introduced blogging, I was just like UGH!! As if I won't get enough homework, now I've got to do this too!!! I was not very interested. However, as the quarter went on, I reaized that compared to other homework, this was waaayyy better. I also realized that it got me talking to people I normally did not talk to. I have never loved it, but I don't hate it anymore.
I think we should do more random facts... I thought those were fun. I also think we should do one on weird facts about ourself or something to go with that topic... I love reading about the dumb thoughts that people think about themselves when its not true!!!

Also, veterans have made many big sacrifices for our country. Here is a question to think about. How many people do you know that have risked their life for some people that they might not even know? Well, all of the veterans have!!! The least we can do is appreciate them for doing that. Another sacrifice that veterans have to make is that they have to leave their family for an amount of time. Think about how that family must feel. The family doesn’t even know if they get to see that person again!!! That is a very big sacrifice that we definitely need to appreciate. Also, the veterans did not have to do what they did. They have other options like being a teacher, or many other job choices out there. The veterans are very generous, and that is the main reason we need to remember them.

The event I chose was an article on the Japan's Nuclear Power Plant... The article was on how Fukushima reactors may shut down before schedule. After what happened to Japan's nuclear power plant, after the earthquake and tsunami, they had called for completing the shutdown process by January. However, in a 6th month update, the Fukushima reactors said that they could reach their "cold shutdown" points by the end of the year. I think that this is a good thing because then the radioactive mess will be cleaned up faster. Now they just have to solve the energy problem...

I am not a book person so I really have not found a book that I have liked recently. However, I am reading a book called "Out of My Mind" by Sharon M. Draper. I like this book because it's about an eleven year old who can't walk, talk, or write. She is a very smart person, but she can't express anything. I think this book is good because it shows me how I can be kinder to the people in special Ed. This book is written from a person in with her disabilities who has to work with her disabilities. So far I am kind of liking this book.... well let's see how I like it at the end!!!

I really did not know what to blog about, then I got the idea that maybe I should share another scary story that happened to me to go on with the other ones. Again, it takes place in India (of course!!!). I was trying out a school there just for a day because I wanted to see how it was since my mom always goes on and on about how tough school is in India. My mom's cousin owned a school there, so I went there. On the way back, I went on the school bus, and it was basically normal, until a guy in the back almost got bitten by a snake!!!! Basically, somehow a snake got into a bus and was slithering around and almost bit a person!! Can you believe that??? I was soooooo scared but after we all got off the bus, the snake was gone, so we thought that person was just kidding around, but the people on the street also said that they killed it. Now I always am kid of freaked out when I go to India!!!

I feel that Banned Books Week is not bad. It falls under the Freedom of Speech because people are just expressing their ideas, so they have the freedom to do that. I think that this is not exactly a bad thing, but again, some people may be agaist my opinion. I guess that it depends on how the book is, then we could decide whether it should be banned or not. There are some books that should be banned just because some people could get bad ideas from it, while there are other books that they are perfect and there would be no harm in someone reading it.

I think the best part of the field trip was the part when we had to do the teamwork games, because I thought it was a lot of fun, (definitely better than being at school:) just kidding Mrs. Lubich). I think if I had to choose the activity that I liked most, it would be the island game thing because even though it was kind of frustrating at times, I thought it was funny too!! I learned how and what animals have to do in order to survive. Adding on to that, I learned that it is a lot harder for animals in the wild to survive, then it is for us!!

I thought this video was very funny and interesting. However, I could not think of a mathematical response for this, except that the division was done backwards. Some other numbers that work for this are:
6,12=18
5,14=25
4,15= 24
3,17= 24
I didn't really use a method to figure this out, I kind of just guessed and checked.

I think that the strangest thing that has happened to me would be the time when I went to India couple of years ago. My mom, my aunt, my cousin, and I were visiting one of ourold friends, in a place called Bangalore. My mom's friend was cutting up a mango for all of us to eat, while the person's kids and I were playing around (my cousin was too shy). After my mom’s friend was done, she set the plate on the dining table for us to eat, but you know parents, thay don’t do anything until they are done talking. What none us(except for my cousin)didn’t know was that a monkey was sneaking through a window that was open. My cousin tried to tell us, but it obviously didn’t sound realistic, so we just ignored her and assumed that she was talking about some toy monkey they might have had somewhere around their house. Then, finally when we saw the monkey, we started chasing it, but it got away. I never expected such a trip, but last time I went to India in November, I had quite an adventure…
I think the scariest thing that has happened to me would be the time when a bunch of my Indian friends met up at one of our houses, and we were playing hide and seek... I hid in a dark room behind a folded up ping- pong table and I was already kind of creeped out by the dark, so I didn't realize that my friend's brother had snuck up behind me and in this really creepy voice, he said Varsha, and touched my shoulder and yelled BOO!! I got sooooo scared, I felt like I had a heart attack, at the age of 11!!! I'm 12 now, so it wasn't very long ago...

On the day of the assembly, I knew that it was going to ne emotional. Yes, it was very emotional as I thought, but what I love about it is that it can change us. I know that there are a lot of people who change after the assembly. However, if there was anything that I had to say that was negative is that I think they should appreciate the others who died too, just a little more. I think I will try to do all the challenges and just in general be a better person.

The first thing I love is chocolate. I also like to hang out with my friends. I love to shop. I can never sit still; I always have to fiddle around with something. I hate to read because it bores me sooo much. I don’t have any siblings. My favorite animal is the monkey=http://!
