 Poetic Effects Some of the tools poets use to create effects in their writtings are as follows...... Imagery and sybolism - In a poem it is very important for the reader to establish the theme of the poem. What story is being told in the poem. Finding out what words the writer is using as symbols by using metaphors. Meters - This is where the reader determines when the writer is more passionate within the poem and where there are strong points and weak points. Poetry is different when reading it versus when you are reading a book. It may take a few times reading it over and over before you really understand what the writer is truly saying.
