7th grade

Article posted May 15, 2012 at 11:11 PM GMT • comment • Reads 4220

I had fun in 7th grade. At first, I was nervous because I didn’t know many people on my team, and now I have friends in each class. Also, I feel like I learned a ton, especially in math. Solving equations gets easier and easier each day! In 8th grade, I would like to work on not getting so distracted when I come home to do my homework. This way I could get my homework done sooner. My advice to 7th graders would be to never procrastinate when it comes to your school work.

I-Towne

Article posted May 15, 2012 at 10:57 PM GMT • comment • Reads 113

I thought I-Towne was really fun. I learned how hard it is to keep your country stocked and your costumers happy. The only thing I would have changed would be for the whole place to be a little larger. But I liked working in Ukraine because it was fun to bake cookies all day!

world history fair

Article posted May 5, 2012 at 04:54 PM GMT • comment • Reads 83

I think world history influences us today, by teaching us to learn from our worlds past mistakes. Every year, farther and farther into the future, our world gets better and better in every way because we know what not to do. My project was about Cleopatra, and what caused her actions. For those of you that don’t know, Cleopatra killed her brothers/husbands, and sister to make sure that her first born would rule Egypt when it was his time to. But in order to do this Cleopatra had to ally herself with mark Antony, and Julius Caesar. But Cleopatra should have chosen better ally’s because it wasn’t before long that Rome took over Egypt.

Looking at the other projects I learned about many different cultures that I had never even thought about before.

Originally, I chose to study Cleopatra because I knew absolutly nothing about her, and now I fell as though I know everything about her! Everything is turning out great! and I am so close to finishing! Just one more week!

Puppies

Article posted April 11, 2012 at 10:49 PM GMT • comment • Reads 838

Just last wednesday, on the fourth, I got two new puppies! My dad has been doing some construction work in Oklahoma for my moms uncle. And my mom's uncle's friend's dog... (that was alot!) just had a litter! The dog owner isn't taking good care of the litter so my dad took two of the pupppies home for us to keep! There names are Bear, and Jezebelle, Bear is the boy and Jezzie's the girl. Bear looks like a golden retriever, but the fur around his face is short and brown. Jezzie looks like an austrailian shepard. They are so cute! but it is a lot of responsibility! Especcially considering the fact that we now have 4 dogs!!!

Chicken Wings

Article posted April 2, 2012 at 11:42 PM GMT • comment • Reads 4970

Dissecting the chicken wings may have been gross! But it was also very fun. In this lab, we learned how the muscular system works with the skeletal system. I probably won't do it again because it was nasty, I'm not a fan of cold, bloody, smelly, meat! But the experience was worth while!

Ernest Green story

Article posted March 15, 2012 at 10:30 PM GMT • comment • Reads 5246

Watching the movie, I was shocked to see just how big of a deal it was for African Americans to simply get into school. To help, I would have talked to the people who were against the desegregation of schools, and try to convince them that it was okay. If I were one of the Little Rock 9, continuing to go to school would be hard, but I know I would still push on because school would lead to a better future. Luckily, things have changed since then and it has become common for African Americans to go to a school. And although some people may still be racist, they can’t do much to change Americas mind about desegregation now. Currently, there are people who are against gays and lesbians, people from different religions, and more. Hopefully, in the future, we can put these discriminations behind us, and look at each other as equals.

Cells in Science

Article posted February 22, 2012 at 03:46 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 1202

Learning about cells has been really fun, all because of the different labs. Not only do we get to interact with other students during the labs, but instead of just reading a textbook and looking at a picture, you get to see it for yourself.  I’ve learned a ton about photosynthesis, osmosis and anything else you need to know about the parts of a cell. My favorite of all the labs was using the microscope. Now I can see what all living things are made of, and not just that, but now when I look out the window I see a completely different world with millions and millions of organisms everywhere!

My Dogs (Prepositional Poem)

Inside the small house, up the stairs, in my room, under my bed.

Inside the white coat, with her friend, in the black.

Away from the storm, inside their sweet dreams, of chasing rabbits, through the forest.

Back to reality, out from under the bed, out of the small house, to chase some real rabbits instead.

My Book...

Article posted February 7, 2012 at 01:42 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1035

I am still reading "The Morganville Vampires" by Rachel Cain. I like the story line, just not the way the author writes.  I think the auther could betray the main character better, beacause somtimes I will think the main character is really cool and brave, but often the writer says somthing that makes the character look nerdy and weak. But other than that the book is really good! Only 4 more books in the series!

This Weekend...

Article posted January 31, 2012 at 11:53 PM GMT • comment • Reads 6314

This weekend I am going with my friends to see “The Woman in Black”. The movie is a horror film about a man who goes to live in a haunted town. But supposedly, the house he is living in is by far the most haunted and possibly even the source to the town’s haunting. After we watch the movie, my friends and I are going back to my house to watch “Paranormal Activity 3”. I have already seen it, but not with my open the whole time! Haha! So hopefully I won’t wimp out… hopefully.

Poets

Article posted January 23, 2012 at 05:54 PM GMT • comment • Reads 5607

Poets can make there poems better by adding more sensory details. The sensory details can make a better image to the poem. Also, if a poet can put a lot of emotion into a story, the reader can connect to the poem more. For example, most kids could connect to a poem about school. If the poem talked about loads of home work, and nasty cafteria food, then the reader would connect in a way that makes you laugh.

Quotes...

Article posted January 21, 2012 at 10:34 PM GMT • comment • Reads 5469

“Love is the only force capable of turning enemy to friend.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

I think this quote  means that the only way to make peace with someone that you disagree with is by making an effort to be friends with them. If I am at school, and I am put in a group I don’t like, then I could remember this quote, and maybe in the end I will end up loving the group I was in. If this qoute was spread around the world and people ACTUALLY listened, then every one would be a better person, and to me, a whole world full of amazingly nice people sounds pretty good. :)

Poetry Wikki

Article posted January 8, 2012 at 07:58 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1317

I liked working on the poetry wiki because it was a much more fun than having to write a paper. One of my group members didn’t help out, but mrmsquin and I worked well together and we had no disagreements. But, with only two people, working it went slower so we didn’t get everything done as well as we could of. The wikki was easy to make, and so was the video. The hardest part was probably putting the pictures and videos on the wikki. Also, the bibliography got confusing some times, but it was okay. But wikis are definitely much better than writing a paper.

Greece

Article posted December 9, 2011 at 02:44 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1000

I don't know much about Greece...yet. But what I do know is that Greece was separated into city states. Eventually, the city states Sparta and Athens began a war over Megara. The war was called the Peloponesian War.

In class, we are divided into differant city states. I am in Megara. All the city states compete against eachother in differant activitys for points. Who ever gets the most points wins.

Horror stories keep you on edge and make you want to know what will happen next. Mystery stories keep you thinking and make you want to finish the book fast. Both are very "teeth grinding" an make you want to finish the book. But horror stories are more about emotions, and mysteries are more about things that get your brain going. I prefer horror stories because of the way it makes you feel, from angry to scared to sad, horror stories are deffinanty uch more exiting.

Thanksgiving

Article posted November 16, 2011 at 11:29 PM GMT • comment • Reads 6677

Three things I am thankful for are my friends, familiy and being able to live here.My friends are the reason that I am able to get up early each day and go to school. My familiy is what keeps me alive, period. They give me my food and shelter and are the reson I wake up at all. And lastly, living here is what brings us all together. Without any of these things, life would be unbearable! So, this year for thanksgiving, I say my thanks for my friends, family, and being able to live here.

Mystery!

Article posted November 8, 2011 at 12:21 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1407

My favorite of all the mysteries I read was "The Speckled Band". I liked it the most beacause it was the most interesting and it had a strange ending. I especially  liked this story beacause I would never of guessed that the story would of been solved the way it was.

my short mysery... who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?

Mr. Mittens and Mrs. Wiskers stared into the empty jar. "Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?" they asked each other. Both protested that they hadn't done it, but it had to of been one of them! There was only one way to find out who did it, so they called Detective Toad. Detective Toad came immediately, this case was very important. Mrs. Wiskers helped Toad search for clues while Mr. Mittens went off to his room. After days of hard work and searching for clues, Detective Toad finally found what could solve the case, a trail of crums!Detective Toad and Mrs. Wiskers followed the trail to none other than Mr. Mittens bedroom! Inside the room, Mr. Mittens was messily, chewing away at his cookie! Caught in the act! Mr. Mittens turned and said, "I stole the cookie from the cookie jar!"

Blogging

Article posted November 2, 2011 at 05:20 PM GMT • comment • Reads 2100

For me, blogging has been really easy. Blogging gives you a lot of time to do your assignments and you also get good feedback from other students. With blogging, your assignments are also a lot shorter than writing an essay. I liked it when we did the 7 things blog, s maby if we could do more things like that but with different themes.

When you write an essay, you can make all kinds of mistakes, you don’t get feedback, and it’s a much longer process.

Blogging is so much better!

IndyCar racing Tradgedy

Sunday, the 18th, we all felt shock when watching the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Crash. It all started when two cars touched tires. Others cars started to slow, but not all were safe. Some cars had flown through the air, some crashed into the wall. By the time the crash was over, 15 cars had been damaged, 3 had been injured and one-Dan Wheldon-dead.Dan wheldon was a 2 time Indy 500 winner and he will be missed... . I had acctually been watching the race on T.V with my brother and dad when it happend. When we were watching, we had no clue if everyone was going to be okay. Our feelings worsend when we saw the hospital helicopter leave with Dan Wheldon. It was a terrible end to a great season.

The Morganville Vampires

Right now, I am reading the Morganville Vampire series. I am on the third book, Midnight Ally. The story is about a girl named Clair Danvers who goes to collage in a town called Morganville. Soon, she discovers that Morganville is actually a town of vampires!

I love how the book has so much detail and how it all seems so real! But what I don’t like is how the book isn’t  Twilight!

Swimming

I love to swim! I am on the Falfins swim team and even though I am only a dynamo 2, I am trying my hardest to get moved up to blues! My best stroke is freestyle but my favorite is probably butterfly. The main reason I wouldn’t like butterfly is because it is the most tiring stroke to do. The best meet I’ve been in was the July meet this summer when I got 1st in freestyle, 1st in backstroke, and 1st in breast. So 1st in all three of my heats! Even if that was a really good meet, I know that I have to keep pushing myself to get better and better.

I had a great time at fox run park! My favorite activity was when we had to get the ball into the tin. I liked this game the best beacause I had a good team with a lot of good friends, so that was fun! While we were there I learned that plants are all amazing, how food effects population, why camofloge is important, and how lively a pond can be.

Banned Books

Article posted September 27, 2011 at 11:13 PM GMT • comment • Reads 7948

I am proud that we have banned book week.  I don't think any book should be banned just beacause one person disagrees with it. If a reader doesn't like a book, than they should put the book down, not try to get it banned! Any ways, baned book week is a good example of how here, we have the freedom to say what we want, and not have someone else tell us what to say.

Math? Huh?

Article posted September 19, 2011 at 11:56 PM GMT • comment • Reads 8269

In the video, two men argue over how many donuts each officer gets if there are 7 officers and 28 donuts. The first man says that each officer gets 13 donuts each, while the other argues against him. At the end of the video, on there last attempt, the two simply take 7  13's and add them up. All they did was add each of the digits, when they really needed to add the actual numbers themselves, meaning they need to remember the differance between the ones and tens. For each officer to actually get 13 donuts, the chef would have to bake 91 donuts.

The Funniest Day of My Life

Article posted September 13, 2011 at 11:22 PM GMT • comment (8) • Reads 9095

The funniest thing to ever happen to me was when I was at my grandma’s house and they had just gotten a new swing. I was having fun swinging until I decided it would be a good idea to jump off instead of just stopping to get off. I flew about five ft. before my feet hit the ground, but once they did, I started running and literally couldn't stop! I ran straight through a bush with thorns and hit a fence. But what’s even worse is that at the edge of the fence there was a pile of rocks! So by the time I stopped running, I had thorns on my legs from the bush, a bruise on my head from the fence and a long scar down my back from, I the rocks. Thankfully, I came out of the accident laughing and in nearly no pain at all. But I still have the scar to remember the funniest day of my life.
