I think that a good topic to make a persuasive speech on is that we shouldn't make persuasive speeches is "Why we shouldn't do pointless assignments that we don't learn from" because I really want to get this point across. We should also do "Why we should get no homework" because this would be interesting and I am curious what people will say.(P.S. The pointless assignments is a completely pointless assignment).

US budget

The budget of the US is under constant debate and I think that it matters greatly and I want to say the top 3 things that should be funded. First, education, this should be funded the most because the young people of the nation become the leaders and the people that add money to the economy. If these people can't make good decisions then the US will continue to be one of the less respected nations. Secondly, security, this is important because if the US is not secure it is hard for us to go through our everyday lives. The third and final thing that should be funded is everything that people need, like insurence and medicare. This also helps this nation run and work properly which is very important.

Are Pro athletes paid too much?

Athletes get paid very large sums of money that is too much considering that they are just playing a game. The average baseball pro gets paid millions. What are they doing to get all this money? Some say that they are pleasing fans and they get as much as the fans are willing to pay. True ,but the back-up players are getting paid millions too and that their money needs to go to other things like taxes because they get filthy amounts of money. Even firefighters, that are risking their lives to save people, get only a tiny portion of their profit. I think that they need to cut the salary of these players by a little more than 1/2. These are just a few reasons why athletes are paid too much.

Battle of Five Armies

In the battle of five armies, the author could have made the story similar to WW1 without knowing it. If this is true I think that the goblins are the Germans because in his eyes the Germans are killing his friends and he has to go home because he can't handle it. The story shows the Goblins as evil and killing a lot of people. The elves were probably the French and the Dwarfs were the Britians and the Russians could have been the men. At the end the eagles came. I think that the eagles are the Americans. There is no way to find out for certain why this is so similar to WW1 ,but we can only try to figure out what they are trying to say.

What i want as a friend

What comes to your mind when you think of a friend? Happy, nice, funny? Well when i think of a friend some of these things come to my mind. First, I want my friend to be happy and have a sense of humor. This would make him or her nice to be around and cheer me up when i am down. i would also want them to be nice and respectful because if they were happy and fun , but made fun of me, they wouldn't be nice to be around. Finally, I want my friends to be not very serious or this would make him or her not able to take a joke or have fun because this would make me not as happy and not wanting to be around them as often. This is what i want what about you?

Change

I am part of a lost generation
and I refuse to believe that
I can change the world
I realize this may be a shock but
“Happiness comes from within.”
is a lie, and
“Money will make me happy.”
So in 30 years I will tell my children
they are not the most important thing in my life
My employer will know that
I have my priorities straight because
work
is more important than
family
I tell you this
Once upon a time
Families stayed together
but this will not be true in my era
This is a quick fix society
Experts tell me
30 years from now, I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce
I do not concede that
I will live in a country of my own making
In the future
Environmental destruction will be the norm
No longer can it be said that
My peers and I care about this earth
It will be evident that
My generation is apathetic and lethargic
It is foolish to presume that
There is hope.
And all of this will come true unless we choose to reverse it .
Read the message, then read it again in reverse.
Which generation do you belong in?
by Jonathan Reed
I really think that this poem really shows how we are not as good as you think and that you should be the change you want to see in the world. I have seen other poems about authors that want people that want you to be the change that you want in the world. I can also relate to the fact that i want something to change when i am not doing it myself. A lot of the people in the world are sort of the same way and poems like these are supposed to show them to be the change they want to see.

You want a lot more things than you actually need. I couldn't live without food or water, but I could live without a iPhone 4s. Scrooge would probably say stuff like, "I could live without you, now go away!" or ,"I couldn't live without this leather couch. Wish you had one?" and other mean things. When it really comes down to it you don't need a lot to live.

The Perfect Setting

I think the perfect "closed" setting for a mystery would be in a village. The village would be very small with about 30 people and it would be remote. The detective would narrow it down until there was about 7 people left. I think this is a good setting because there is only a certain amount of people and it is mysterious. What is your idea of a perfect "closed" setting?

Fear affects us in a lot of our desisions. Weather it is fear of a teacher or fear of a knife it affects our desicions. For example you may not do something you can do.This can be a good thing or a bad thing. Lets say you are trapped at as canyon and there is a 15 foot jump.from one side to the other and a wild bull is chasing you. If you were not fearful you would probably think you couldn't jump and hide and you could be found and it would be over, but since you were fearful you would try to jump and probably make it. In this sencenrio fear can help you ,but on The monsters are due on maple street it was a bad thing and clouded people's judgement.
