government budget priorities

Article posted April 5, 2012 at 05:01 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 170

The United states of America has trillions and billions of dollars. Every year trillions are spent. According to the website www.usgovernmentspending.com, in the year 2011 about 6.1 trillion was spent by our government. 18% health care 16% pensions 15% deffence 14% education 12% welfare 25% remainder. I believe that if america used its money to pay welfare at top priority and help pay america's debts, that there would be less homeless people. If the poor people had money to spend and to take care of them selves, then stores would be offering more jobs and would be in bussiness. People would pay for their homes and the cycle would continue. Also, I think that more money should be spent on education. Teachers don't get paid enough for what they do, dealing with crazy kids 5 days a week. Also, high school kids and colledge kids offten drop out from lack of money. With college being so expensive, alot of kids can't pay. I think that more scholarships should be avalible and standards lower. Many kids are intelligent but don't get regognized because of bad grades due to family life of bad situations. Another place that the U.S.'s money should go to would be health care because we don't want the human kind going extinct ;)

over paid athletes

Article posted April 4, 2012 at 04:11 PM GMT • comment • Reads 352

There are thousands of sports players. Some are professional, others are not. Proffesional athletes are paid too much! First of all, it's just a wasit of money. They are paid millions of dollars allthe for a silly game, even if they loose or hardly score any points. Also, tons of people around the world are good athletes and are sportive. Majority of them are not known, and do not get paid for being athletic. Why should only the famous foot ball players and soccer players be rich? Another thing is how other people work harder and yet they get paid less. Teachers, police, the president, ect. do harder work, tougher jobs and don't get recognized or paid as much. Just because they are on tv doesn't meanthey should be paid more than the rest of america.

change :)

change your world by: brian tracy

You cannot change the world,

But you can present the world with one improved person -

Yourself.

You can go to work on yourself to make yourself

Into the kind of person you admire and respect.

You can become a role model and set a standard for others.

You can control and discipline yourself to resist acting

Or speaking in a negative way

Toward anyone for any reason.

You can insist upon always doing things the loving way,

Rather than the hurtful way.

By doing these things each day,

You can continue on your journey

Toward becoming an exceptional human being.

This poem is so very true. There are people in the world that we might not like or agree with what others say or do. How ever, we are only in control of our selves. This author is tryin to imply that peace and respect and tolerance is key. MLK jr, Gandi, and other amazing role models have had the same attitude. In life we always see people fighting, friends, neighbors, teachers, parents. Like I said, we can not controll this. But if we make a change and show people how we would handle a similar situation in our own lives, maybe we can bring peace to the world. We can not change the fact that we are at war with iraq and packistan ect. I belive that is why troops go out there, they out them selves out there to change the situation and to do there best to make a good diffenrence in the world.

What I Can Not Live With Out

Article posted December 13, 2011 at 02:52 AM GMT • comment • Reads 67

What can you not live without? There are a few things I can't live out. Some people admire the blustery breeze that graciously donates frostbite to every trespasser of the outdoors. I, however am not one of those ridiculous homosapiens that has the insaine desire to glaciate. Infact, I prefere atleast above eighty degrees outside instead of huddling to a heater. In other words, I, Lilly Gray, could not live with out summer. I can just imagine basking by the beach side, occationaly running into the deep, refreashing, aqua waves. Sounds pretty ideal to me! Summer is why I persevere threw the dreaded winter; because I know that summer is only six months away.

The perfect closed setting

Article posted December 13, 2011 at 12:34 AM GMT • comment • Reads 38

I think that the perfect "closed setting" for a mystery story would be a creepy, dark, spooky place. For an example in that one book where it starts off, " On a dark and stormy night...". That book  gives the reader chills, and the feeling that the book wil be  mysterious. Also, in the story " the Hound of the Baskervilles" it gives the imprestion that it is an un safe, creepy, foggy, dark, spooky place. It helps the mystery flow. It also makes it more interesting and intreaging.

How Fear Affects Us

Article posted November 3, 2011 at 09:29 PM GMT • comment • Reads 52

How does fear affect us? There are many ways that fear affects us. Some people cry, some people get deppressed, some people faint. Other times we might fight some one, say mean things, or try to ignor it. Either way, it all comes down to "fight or flight". In other words, some one might try to avoid something that scares them, this would be considered "flight".  "Fight" speaks for its self... fighting againts fear. Every one is different though, some people get scared easily compared to people that don't. Also, one person might laugh their head off in a horror movie, but get startled and scream when toast pops out of a toaster. In the first situation, "fight or flight" would not apply. However, in the second, he or she screaming would be indicating that he or she is frightened, after of which would be followed by his or her calming down and realizing, "Hey, it's just burnt bread!" or running away. If he or she calmed down, it would be fighting the fear by tellinging his or her self that it's nothing. If he or she ran away, obviously it would be flight. Every Human deals with frightful situations in a different way. How does fear affect, YOU?

Favorite Story

Article posted October 3, 2011 at 05:56 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 88

There are many stories that my class read this quarter, The War of the War, Amigo Brothers, Rikki Tikki Tavi, and more. Out of them all, I really did't like Amigo Brothers.  Don't get me wrong, it's got a good moral... but it's just like any other story. Two friends have a dream... and find out they have to compete each other in it.  Also, it was really really boring. Mrs. Thomassen usually makes  really boring books seem exiting, but Amigo  Brothers is just way too boring. Finally, it's too long. I can sum it up in a sentence, but it takes like 10 pages to spit it out. Sorry to dissapoint any Boxing Bro. fans, but honestly I hated that story.

would you hire your self?

Article posted September 12, 2011 at 05:26 PM GMT • comment (4) • Reads 1308

Would you hire your self for a job? I would not!

First of all,  I get irritated easily. If a costomer was stupid and did not understand anything, or didnt know what they wanted, I would flip out on them and probably be "let go".

Also, I should not be hired at a car dealership. In stead of selling people cars, i would be driving the black mustangs to the mall, friends' houses, and all around town. How could I resist something so wonderous?

Last but not least,  if someone made the stupid mistake of hiring me at a restraunt, I would most definatly be fired. Tempted by all the food i'd probably eat the costomers' orders before they even look at. The excuse " I was checking for poisen" doesnt always work on your boss.

If i were you, i would not accept me into any of these fields. I mean, unless you would like to loose your five star rating of perfect service.
