"Now that I'm thinking about it, I really don't think before I act. I gave people fire when Zeus had already told me no. With Zeus being the god of all gods, of course there would be consequences. When you're in the moment, you don't always think things through, and that's exactly what I did. I will think before I act, so I can make wiser decisions."

Music: a language that connects us all and we can all relate to. A good persuasive speech topic would be that students should learn how to play a musical instrument. First of all, students should learn how to play a musical instrument because my middle school, Mountain Ridge Middle School has an excellent band program. With amazing teachers that make band fun and easy to comprehend, the band room is always an exciting place to be. Furthermore, students should learn how to play a musical instrument because it is something that everyone can do. You don't have to be athletic or very tall to play an instrument, like in some sports. You just have to be committed and a hard-worker. Moreover, students should learn how to play a musical instrument because playing a musical instrument is very relaxing and a great way to releve stress. Practice, practice, practice! Practicing is the best way to improve, and it doesn't have to be perfect. It's something that takes a lot of hard work and dedication. But, when you practice, you are only focused on the music, and therefore you are not worrying about anything else. Playing a musical instrument takes your mind off of everything, and that's exactly what relaxing is supposed to do. As you can see, there are many reasons why students should learn how to play a musical instrument and why it would make a good persuasive speech topic for my class. So, you better get to learning! Which musical instrument will you choose? The clarinet, the trombone, the flute, the alto saxophone? There are just so many choices!

Budget Priorities

The United States federal government has many, many things to fund, and they are all very important. I think that the top three priorities for the federal government to fund this next fiscal year are education, Wellfare, and Medicare. First of all, I think that education should be in the top three priorities for the United States federal government to fund this next fiscal year. Education is extremely important, and so it is vital that students have all the supplies they need, including computers, whiteboards, and art supplies. With the federal government funding education, students will be able to use all their supplies to learn and be successful in school. Moreover, I also think that Wellfare should be in the top three priorities for the United States federal government to fund this next fiscal year. Wellfare helps out the less fortunate, and that is very good. The basic necessities that everybody needs are food, water, and shelter, and since some people need a little help attaining those needs, Wellfare is a good aid. Then everybody can live a very happy life. Furthermore, I think that Medicare should also be in the top three priorities for the United States federal government to fund this next fiscal year. Elderly people need good medical care, and Medicare is a good aid to them. Everybody should be able to get high-quality medical care, and with Medicare, elderly people can live healthier and longer lives. In conclusion, it must be hard for the United States federal government to decide what to fund. There are so many things that government funding would benefit. I hope that my reasons for my top three priorities have been great, so the government will realize that my top three are the best top three.

Professional Athletes ARE Paid Too Much!

People should be paid according to how they're helping the world, not for playing on a professional sports team. There are people who are trying to cure cancer and teaching children in school-the next generation of people to govern the world, and the amount of money that they're paid doesn't even come close to the amount of money that professional athletes are paid. Professional athletes ARE paid too much-in fact, they're paid millions and millions of dollars a year! There are people who could use that money for something useful and important and put the money to good use. First of all, one example of how professional athletes ARE paid too much is in an article that we read in Language Arts entitled "Do Professional Athletes Get Paid Too Much?" by Justin Hjelm. "Kenny Anderson, then a guard for the Boston Celtics, complained of not being able to afford the insurance on his eight cars." I find it so hard to believe that people would actually complain about not getting paid enough money when they are already paid so much. And seriously, who needs eight cars? That's right, nobody! How would you even find the time to use all eight cars? It's just plain selfish. And, Kenny Anderson's contracted salary in 1999 was $5,845,000 a year! As well, another example of how professional athletes ARE paid too much is that in the article "Do Professional Athletes Get Paid Too Much?" by Justin Hjelm, it says "When asked in the early twenties what justified him making more money than the President of the United States, Babe Ruth replied "Well, I had a better year." It really doesn't make sense at all that a professional baseball player should make more money a year than the President of the United States, the person who runs our country. That's crazy! As you can see, when professional athletes are paid more than teachers and surgeons and firefighters and the President of the United States, they really ARE paid way too much.

You Have to Believe...

Recently, in Language Arts, we read a poem entitled The Victor by C.W. Longnecker. I am definitely in consensus with the poem, The Victor. You can never achieve anything if you don't even try. You have to give yourself a chance. For example, in the poem, it says: "Success begins with a fellow's will. It's all in the state of mind." These lines are saying that your victory is determined by how you look at the situation. This makes sense because I'm sure that you have heard: "If you think you'll win, then you'll win, and if you think you'll lose, then you'll lose. Another example is that in the poem, it says: "You've got to be sure of yourself before You can ever win the prize." This line is saying that you have to believe you can do it, before you can ever achieve it. Furthermore, in the poem, it says: "Life's battles don't always go To the stronger or faster man. But sooner or later, the man who wins Is the man who thinks he can." I very much agree with this quote, and it is very true. As well, this quote is a little similar to the story: "The Tortise and the Hare". The tortise wasn't the fastest, but he ended up prevailing. In conclusion, in order to achieve something, you have to think that you will win and believe in yourself. That is what the poem is trying to convey. I completely agree with this poem and really enjoyed it too. So, now, there is really nothing left to be said except, believe...

One Thing I Couldn't Live Without

There are many things that would be hard to live without, but one thing seems to be the biggest, and that is a car. Cars are the quickest and easiest mode of transpotation. Also, my house is far away from my school, so I can't walk to school. The only way I can get to school is by car. As well, sometimes my family and I go to Denver for the day. We definitely couldn't walk. We wouldn't take an airplane; so if I didn't have a car, then my family and I couldn't go to Denver, or any other place that we wanted to go to. As you can see, it really would be impossible to live my life the same way it is now without a car.

The Perfect Mystery Setting!

The perfect "closed setting" for a mystery story would be a moor at night. In the story, The Hound of the Baskervilles, a moor is used as one of the settings. The perfect "closed setting" for a mystery story should be dark and creepy, and definitely a place that you don't want to be around. A moor at night is exactly that, as well as being the complete opposite of gumdrops, lollipops, and sunshine.

Ahhh!

Ahhh! I'm scared! Fear affects people very dramaticly, which can really exaggerate simple situations. First of all, fear can be like dominoes. Sometimes, when one person becomes scared, that causes other people around them to become scared as well, even if the situation really isn't something to panic about. As well, fear can make people panic about something that really isn't worth it. For example, in the story, The Monsters are Due on Maple Street, the people don't know what is going on, so they don't really know what they are panicing about, and if it's a big deal or not. Moreover, fear can also cause people to blame each other. For example, in the story, The Monsters are Due on Maple Street, the people don't know what is going on, but if they figure out one thing about someone that they think is suspicious, then they blame the situation on that person. As you can see, fear can affect people in many ways. If you are sacared, then you will not be as logical. This isn't very helpful at all, so the one way to avoid it, is to not get scared. Good luck! Boo!

School is a wonderful environment to be educated in and to have a great deal of fun while doing it. There are many reasons why school is an important and enjoyable place to be; but I feel that there are three that are the most important.
To start off, one of the reasons why school is an important and enjoyable place to be is that at school you receive an education and you learn new information.
In addition, another reason why school is an important and enjoyable place to be is that you get to spend time with friends.
Moreover, the final reason why school is an important and enjoyable place to be is that school prepares you for the future: life.
In Conclusion, school is all about learning and getting an education. But, school would be nothing without a little fun. When you're enjoying yourself, it makes you want to learn and to participate. The three reasons why I love school and school is important are receiving an education and learing new information, spending time with friends, and school prepares you for the future: life. These three reasons prove that school can be fun. And, who knows, maybe you'll start to like school more because of these reasons, whether you like it or not.
