I am going tell why I choose Gutzon Borglum. I choose him because he is very interesting to learn. He created the president’s heads at Mount Rushmore. He was born in March 25, 1867. He died in March 6, 1941. His full name is John Gutzon de la Mothe Borglum. He created the president’s heads on Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain is 800 feet tall. Stone Mountain is near Atlanta. He created George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore Roosevelt. He was a sculptor. He officially began carving on June 23, 1923.
He was in the field of sculpture and painting. When he died the president’s heads was not complete, so his son finished the rest. It takes 14 years to complete it. In 1908, Gutzon Borglum won a competition for a statue of the Civil War General Philip Sheridan to be placed in Sheridan Circle in Washington. D.C. His project started in 1927 and ended in 1941. The dynamite was used to remove large pieces of rock from under George Washington's eye brow.
In 1908, he completed the statue of John William Mackay in 1831-1902. The statue is located at the University of Nevada, Reno. He also sculpted Aviator in 1919. Did you know Gutzon Borglum is famous? He is famous for creating the president’s heads at Mount Rushmore.

Element Report
By: Lisa
Do you want to learn about Hydrogen, Helium, and Lithium? Well, I am going to teach you about it. I hope you enjoyed reading this.
Who discovered hydrogen? Hydrogen was discovered by Robert Boyle in 1671. Hydrogen can be found in balloons. Hydrogen can be used for gas to drive a car. Do you know what is the melting and boiling point? The melting point is -434.45°F. The boiling point is -423.17°F. What is the symbol? The symbol is H. Do you know what the atomic number is? The atomic number is 1. Hydrogen atom is the simplest element among all other elements because it has only 1 electron, so scientists can understand it very well.
Do you know who discovered Helium? Helium was discovered by Pierre Janssen in 1868. Where can it be found? Helium can be found in balloons. What it is used for? It can be used for filling an airship. What is the melting and boiling point? The melting point is -457.96°F. The boiling point is -452.07°F. What is the symbol? The symbol is He. What is the atomic number? The atomic number is 2. Helium is also simple because it has 2 electrons. The difference between 1 electron and 2 electrons is scientist can understand how 2 electrons interact to each other.
Do you want to learn about Lithium? Well, I am going to teach you about it. Who discovered it? Lithium was discovered by Jons Jacob Berzelius in 1817. Where can it be found? It 1can be found in batteries. What it is used for? It can be used to make a battery. What is the melting and boiling point? The melting point is 356.97°F. The boiling point is 2448°F. What is the symbol? The symbol is Li. What is the atomic number? The atomic number is 3. Lithium is the simplest metal because it is the only metal with 3 electrons.
Do you want to learn more interesting facts? Well, I am going to teach you about the interesting facts. Did you know that Lithium can interact with hydrogen to become the simplest molecule with metal and it is good for scientist to study because this molecule has only 4 electrons? These 3 elements are important because after a few nano seconds of Big Bang, these 3 elements were first generated, so understand where the universe come from. I hope you learned anything about these 3 elements.

One day, Rory almost forgot that it was Lucette’s birthday. Rory told Derek and Bolivia that it was Lucette’s birthday. Rory, Derek, and Bolivia decided to create a party for Lucette. First they planned what to do in the party. There should be balloons, cake, ice cream, cookies, and presents.
They need to get ready for the birthday party. Rory goes to the store to buy balloons. Derek blows the balloons, and Bolivia bakes a cake and some cookies. Bolivia knows that Lucette love fruit, so Bolivia will bake a fruit cake and Bolivia will bake peanut butter cookies.
Derek doesn’t know what to give Lucette for her birthday. Derek was going to buy chocolate for Lucette, but he remembers that birds can’t eat chocolate. Then, he had an idea. He decided to give Lucette fruit for her birthday. He remembers that Luccette loves fruit. Derek doesn’t know what kind of fruit does Lucette liked. So Derek asked Bolivia. Bolivia told Derek that ‘’Lucette’s favorite fruits are pineapples, grapes, mangos, strawberries, and bananas.’’
Today was Lucette’s birthday and Bolivia, Derek, and Rory were getting ready for the party. It was time to open the presents. First, Lucutte opened Bolivia’s present. It was a radio. Lucutte can listen to music when ever she wants to. Second, Lucettte opens Derek’s present. It was fruit. Lucette loves fruit. Last, Lucette opened Rory’s present. It was a new bird cage. It was better then the old one. Now it was time to eat cake. It was strawberry, its Lucette’s favorite. It was time to blow the candles. Everyone gets a slice.
Now it was time to eat the ice cream. There are 5 kinds of flavors, mint, orange, strawberry, mango, and raspberry. Lucette liked the mint and the mango the most. Lucette is finally 4 years old. It was the best party ever.

One afternoon Otto and I traveled to Nebraska. I got a gift from Spencer. I couldn’t open it unless if things get worst.
When we finally arrived something shocking happened. On our first winter, we ran out of food.
I thought to open the box to see if it could help us. I almost opened it, but I remember that Spencer had said to only open it unless if things get worst. Otto and I were trying to concoct a plan. We couldn’t think of a plan.
I thought hope would be in that box but when I opened it, it was empty. I was so mad at Spencer. Finally we thought of a plan. We thought to let people be neighborly. I also learned to let people be neighborly.
I know that Otto and I will make it through this difficult time

Mayflower Letter

Dear Aunt Sally,
I can’t believe I am on such a big adventure. I am also excited because I am going on the Mayflower. I am going to tell you what I did on the Mayflower. I hope you like this letter.
There was a huge storm the other night, so I have to go below deck. The storm was so strong the ship had a leak but it is ok because the sailors put a new post underneath so it can patch all the leaks.
The lightning was strong and struck the ship. The lightning also struck my father. We ran out of food and then we caught a fish. A man got washed overboard then he pulls a rope to safely.
Just when I thought my father was going, a miracle happened. The miracle is he gets up. My mother got sick so she has to rest to get better. There were so many people on the Mayflower. There are more then hundred people on the Mayflower.
I know we will reach land soon and I will be good. I really miss and I hope you get this letter. I hope I see you soon.
Sincerely,
Lisa

Ben Franklin had some big ideas. I’m going to explain to you a few of them. I think you will really enjoy this essay.
Did you know that Be Franklin published his own almanac?
It was called Poor Richard’s Almanac and it is published in 1733.
Ben wanted to prove that lighting and electricity are the same. His idea was to let a man stay in the tower holding a rod during a storm.
Mr. Franklin went to France and talked them into helping the United States. France gave the United States weapons and Ben Franklin also helped write the peace treaty.
Now I have told you what Ben Franklin’s big ideas were. Without Ben Franklin’s ideas we won’t have what we have now.
