Derek and Rory were going to meet each other at the park. Derek was leaving his house when he spotted a moving truck next door. Just when he saw a kid, Derek thought of saying hello but he was going to be late. So he went off to the park. Later that evening Derek was in his backyard. He heard the door bell ring Derek ran to the door as fast as he could. when he got there his parents were talking to a guy and a kid. Derek remembered the kid from that same morning. Derek’s mom said that Tommy was new and didn’t have any friends. Tommy is the kid. Derek had to hang out with Tommy. Apparently Derek and Tommy had a lot in common. They both liked sports, reading and like to dance. Derek and Tommy soon became best friends. Derek forgot all about Rory. Derek and Tommy were riding their bikes when they saw Rory sitting down on the bench looking very sad. Derek and Tommy stopped and walked towards Rory. When Derek remembered they had planned meeting each other there. Derek apologized to Rory. Since Rory and Derek were friends for a long time he forgave him. They all became friends. That was the summer Derek almost lost his best friend Rory.

Persuasive Letter

3/16/12

Dear parents,
This letter is all about you getting me a keyboard. So get ready read this persuasive letter.

My first reason why you should buy me a keyboard is so I can have something to do. I could stop using the computer and other electronics. You always say to not use the computer too much because it will hurt my eyes. With the keyboard I wouldn’t be spending so much time on other stuff that hurts my eyes.

My second reason why you should get me a keyboard is I can get smarter by remembering chords and songs. It will increase my memory.

My last reason why you should by be a keyboard is so I can develop a musical talent and grow up to be like the rest of my family that plays music. If I learn to play well enough, I might get gigs and earn money when I’m older.
By buying me a keyboard, you open doors to the rest of my life, like helping me not use technology so much, having a better memory, and helping me become famous.

Hatties Birthday Box

Article posted December 6, 2011 at 04:55 PM GMT • comment • Reads 211

One cold and rainy morning Hattie and I finally got to our new home. The rain cleared up when we stepped on our new land. It felt really good to say our new land.

Hattie and I were building our new home. While Hattie was putting the finishing touches on the house, I was cutting down a tree for the fire place. Just when the tree I was cutting fell the wrong way and fell on the house.

Hattie was really mad when she saw the house collapse. She ran to the wagon and opened the box. She realized there was nothing in the box for a second she thought I had stolen the priceless jewels or necklace but I proved I didn’t. She was crying really loud and stayed in the wagon. It was getting dark and I didn’t know what to do to solve this problem.

The next day some kind neighbors offered us shelter and helped us build a house with their own materials. Hattie was getting happy but still mad because there wasn’t anything in the box.

It worked out with me and Hattie and all of these years have passed and she is still upset about the box.

Trip on the Mayflower

Article posted November 8, 2011 at 05:35 PM GMT • comment • Reads 296

Dear mother,
I miss you so much. I wish you could be with me right now. We have traveled six weeks straight and we haven’t reached any land.

We have gotten lots of storms on the mayflower. One week ago we had a really big storm. The ship was going back and forth so wildly. When suddenly lightning hit the ship. Then we realized it broke a beam. I yelled what are going to do.

We were worried that we were not going to make it to the new land. Two days later the captain remembered that we were taking tools to the new world so they used that to repair the beam. I helped the sailors.

I have to say good bye mother. I hope we reach land soon

Ben Franklins Big Ideas

Article posted October 21, 2011 at 06:30 PM GMT • comment • Reads 351

Do you know Ben Franklin's big ideas? I’m going to tell you about a few. I think you will really like them.

Did you know that Ben Franklin published the first almanac? He published the first edition in 1733. Ben called it the poor Richards’s almanac. Ben was selling 10000 copies every year. In his almanac he put sayings, the weather, when to plant and way more things.

You probably know that Ben Franklin discovered that lightning and electricity are the same. Many people thought he was crazy trying to prove they were the same. To prove he was right he flew a kite on a stormy day with a piece of medal at the end and got the electrical shock.

If you didn’t know Ben Franklin was a very good negotiator. He went to France and talked them in joining the war against England. France send Ben money guns and troops to America.
These were some of bens big ideas. If it weren’t for Ben Franklin, the king of England would still be our king. We should thank Ben Franklin.

William Shakespeare

Article posted October 4, 2011 at 08:00 PM GMT • comment • Reads 403

Do you know what Ben Jonson meant when he said he wasn’t of an age but for all time? William Shakespeare’s plays were very popular in that age. He meant that he wasn’t going to be known for just that time but forever. I think he’s right because we still read his plays now. So that what he meant when he said was not of an age but for all time.
