My Silver Earrings

By: Sarah

Inside the silver earrings, shiny little drops falling from the sky

Inside the shiny little drops falling from the sky, a grassy hilltop of green

Inside the grassy hilltop of green, fire red sparkles

Inside the fire red sparkles, swishing feet soaring in the mushy grass like a cheetah

Inside the swishing feet soaring in the mushy grass like a cheetah, joy of freedom in the world

Inside the joy of freedom in the world, the silver earrings

Dolphins

Wet, Cute

Jumping, Playing, Squeaking

Jumping in the air

Spinner dolphin

Mary

Friendly, Funny

Playing, Running, Talking

I play with her

Friend

If I were in charge of the world

I’d cancel getting hurt,

Nothing costs money, and also

Your mother couldn’t boss you around.

If I were in charge of the world

There’d be more happiness and peace,

Cats would be extra popular, and also

Restaurants would have better food.

If I were in charge of the world

Children would be allowed to stay up late,

You could have a party every day, and also

Cheese would not be stinky

I am

I am the legs of a horse that runs

I am the sunlight of the sun that squirts out beams of light

I am the sunset that shows its beauty

I am the copper brown glow of the horse’s tail that swishes back and forth

I am the dewdrops that blanket the grass

I am the apple that shines in the light

You see, I am alive, I am alive you see, I am alive, I am alive, I am alive, I am alive.

Blue

Blue is the feeling of sadness

Blue is the beauty of the sky

Blue is the snow that covers the ground

Blue is the popping out in the spring

Blue is the waves of the ocean

Blue is the eyes of a girl

Blue is the blood in the inside

Blue is the powder of chalk

Red

Red is the blood that squeezes out

Red is the storm of Mars

Red is the stop sign that warns

Red is the sunset in the evening

Red is the beauty of a girl

Red is the madness of someone

Red is the flames of the fire

My New Year’s Resolutions

By Sarah

My New Year’s resolutions for school is getting better at reading big words by sounding out more letters instead of guessing what the word is.

My New Year’s resolution for home is getting over stage fright by singing more.

Community Comparison Haddonfield vs. Joliet, Illinois

By Sarah

I am writing today about comparing Joliet, Illinois and my home town Haddonfield, New Jersey. To do research I went on the Internet, and we Skyped with 4th graders who live in Joliet too. I think Joliet, Illinois is similar and not so similar to Haddonfield.

There are a couple of things that are the same about Haddonfield and Joliet, Illinois. We both have low plains. We also are both on the same planet, Earth. We live on the same continent, North America. We also live in the same country, the United States of America. Both of us are in a suburban area. Those are ways that Haddonfield and Joliet are similar.

There are also a couple things that are different about Haddonfield and Joliet, Illinois.  They have different climates. Joliet’s climate is a long, cold winter and cool summer. Ours is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Haddonfield and Joliet are in different states. They have different time zones too. Haddonfield is in the Eastern time zone and Joliet is in the Central time zone. Those are ways they’re different.

There were some things that were the same about Haddonfield and Joliet and some things that are not. I felt good about researching Joliet, Illinois on the Internet because I found out the population is 152,000, and I think that’s really cool to find out!

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful

By SB

Thank you

For all my hands can hold –

My little sister I love so much,

A fork and knife to eat juicy turkey,

Fireflies that light up the night,

I let them go and they take flight!

Thank you

For all my eyes can see-

A beautiful sunset that is bright pink,

My family at the dinner table eating a feast,

A nice dog that likes to play,

With people almost everyday.

Thank you-

For all my ears can hear,

The sound of wind blowing,

Wind chimes making a noise,

A baby bird chirping sweetly!
