Current Event Assignment

Article posted December 6, 2012 at 02:04 AM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 285

My current events about the Catholic Church relate to our studies because of how we are learning that the Catholic Church is very religious. My articles talked about Bishops admitting their sins and how Yoga can affect the church. The Catholics do everything in the eye of God and inspect on things that are not usually considered Catholic. We learned that for a long time the Catholic Church has been this way. My articles show that the Catholic Church still carries on old traditions from over 300 years ago.

The impact on society that these two articles bring is that the Catholic Church really wants you to learn more about God. They want you to have faith in God. The catholic wants Society to know that they want full respect from you and that they will respect your faith. They want you to get the full effect of God and want to help you. That is why they band certain activities or sometimes need to apoligize for their sins. The Catholic Church wants you to love God and belive in him and get his full word.

A World Without Pictures

Article posted October 24, 2012 at 07:02 PM GMT • comment (7) • Reads 959

A world without pictures is hard to think about? It would be so unusual. But I think it would be harder to understand the things around us. It would be hard to record things that words cannot explain. It would be harder to describe events in the past or events in the future. A world without pictures would be filled with more judgment than we have today, people would question whether whatever you are saying really did happen. A world without pictures simply isn’t imaginable but it is truly a great wonder.

My Lit Book

Article posted October 2, 2012 at 06:11 PM GMT • comment (5) • Reads 1070

In my book I think the main character in the Shakespear Stealer will eventually leave his foster parents. Widge will get tired of taking orders from his foster parents and will finally have enough courage to leave. He will run far, far, away from them and will find a new foster parent. Maybe even Shakespear himself.  I think the connections from my book to the Middle Age time period is the person the story surrounds which is William Shakespear. He was a very popular play director during the Middle Age time period.

Middle Ages Politics

Article posted September 7, 2012 at 02:37 PM GMT • comment (3) • Reads 1400

My focus topic was politics in the Middle Ages. Politics in the Middle Ages includes kings and Queens Manors and Serfs. One of thr main focus points in the Middle Ages was Fuedalism. FUedalism is the process in which a king gives land to manors and the manors provide protection and loyalty to the kings. Then the Manors would give land to poor serfs and the serfs would give them protection and food. Politics in the Middle Ages was similar to the way AMerica operates today. In America we try to save money during huge wars, that is what the Middle Ages did. The Middle Ages was a very Dark time. There were struggles and a long boring time. People in the Middle Ages did not really pay attention to politics in the Middle Ages. They obeyed the Kings and Queens each and everyday.

Meideval Times

I am excited about learning about the Mideval Times. I want to learn about the religion and whta were some of the great battles about. I like to learn about the old days of the world because i like to see how far the world has come over thousands of years.

I will learn these things by watching movies on the subject. I will read books on the crusades and other wars and battles that the Mideval Times consisted of. I will also look on websites any time I have any questions about the Medieval Times.

Tuskegee Airmen

Tuskegee Airmen

The Tuskegee Airmen was an inspiring story about African American pilots. The book taught me about the Airmen through a teacher and his class. The students ask questions that are usually never answered by everyday people. Tuskegee Airmen talks about the men and how they were they were mistreated and considered a disgrace to other people that weren’t like them. The Tuskegee Airmen is a book that not only tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen but in a way that both children and adults will understand.

John Comyn

Article posted February 16, 2012 at 11:24 PM GMT • comment • Reads 295

John Comyn

John Comyn was often called the Earl of Buchan. He was a member of Clan Comyn a group in the early 14th century. He was a chief opponent of Robert The Bruce a powerful Scottish leader. Robert and John were leaders in a 14th century civil war that both sides argued for independence. John Comyn had a cousin named John Comyn III who was killed by Bruce in Dumfries in 1306. John Comyn agreed to assist Bruce for the sake of the civil war between France and Scotland.

From about 1300 to 1304 the civil war of Scotland was also the war or fight for power for the Comyns. John Comyn and a few of his cousins decided that they were going to fight the other side of their family for power and over parts of Scotland. John did not just want to fight his cousins he wanted to fight the Native people that lived there. His cousins set up armies around the boarder of Scotland. His cousins placed him in Galloway where his cousins and parts of France attacked Scotland. After a year of fighting John Comyn was sent to Paris to prevent a peace treaty to end the war. A few years later Comyn died (1308) as a sergeant for 14th century Scotland.

John Comyn died from being murdered, since 1286 the threat of civil war between the houses of Bruce and Balliol had haunted and shaped Scottish politics. So Robert Bruce and his partners and associates killed Comyn and his Uncle because of their power in the civil war. This was a murder that had a huge turn in the Scottish civil war. Mostly because Comyn was one of the main leaders in then Scottish civil war and with his power over half of Scotland, Bruce was named leader of the civil war and now controlled the rest of the Comyn Clan. He brought torture on them and made them fight in the most dangerous battles then killed William Comyn. He killed William because he tried to runaway and form a Clan called the Comyn II but was found later on and was killed by Robert Bruce.

With my research on John Comyn I concluded that he was a very tough man. He liked to fight and solve his problems with violence. I also concluded that his family was not a typical loving family. With them it was all about power and whoever had the most power was the best one in the family. So without any second guesses I think that there was constant family in the Comyn family.

Casey at the Bat- Reflection

A real life situation was this summer in a basketball game. I was instructed by my coach to shoot a three at the 10 seconds mark. As I was looking at my coach on the bench. I wasn’t paying attention to the defender. A defender came by and stole the ball from behind me. All I could do was watch as he was speeding down the court towards the basket. He made his layup and the game was over. We had lost he game. I felt devastated knowing that my coach gave me a responsibility to win a game and we lost. I was sad and didn’t know how to apologize to my teammates I knew they were mad at me and I didn’t even know how to forgive myself.

Should we expect professional athletes to be role models or should we judge them by their athletic abilities?

Should we expect professional athletes to be role models or should we judge them by their athletic abilities?

I think we should expect professional athletes to be role models. When a child sees a professional athlete acting inappropriate I think that the athlete should be punished. I think this because kids might see that behavior and think it is okay but it is really not good behavior. SO yes I think we should judge the professional athlete as being a role model and if they are good at the sport they play it makes all the better.

In what settings can prejudice sometimes be found?

Article posted January 11, 2012 at 07:51 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 317

Prejudice can be found at school and even in your own neighborhood. People can have qualities of prejudice and treat you differently and unfairly because of the smallest things. You might wear glasses, you might not have a lot of friends. But prejudice can be found anywhere and it’s never going to go away. So there is no escaping it you can only face it and learn to deal with it.

Goal Setting

My Goal setting for 2012 is simple. I want to become better at everything I do. I want to become a leader, I want to try harder in all of my classes, and I want put my problems in God’s hands. I want to do these things because I think by doing them I will become a better person. This year I want to become more mature and I think by sticking to these goals I will become more mature.

Part Two of Meeting Jesus

Article posted October 21, 2011 at 02:29 PM GMT • comment • Reads 844

When I got home I threw my books on the floor of my room and went outside. Before I left I was thinking about telling my parents Hi but bailed. Because I could hear them 3 doors down praying. The only thing I don’t get is how you pray to a person that doesn’t fight for you. He says he will make your life better if you love him. All I’m saying is that I expect  way more than love from him. How will he make your life better if you can’t even see him. After those thoughts I cleared my mind and was ready to go outside to my definition of home- the hood I call it.

When I got outside I could see all my friends picking on the new kid who just moved in. There was something odd about him. Things like he believed what my parents believe. He talked nothing about smoking or dealing drugs like all the cool kids do but I guess he was just weird like my parents. When I asked what was going on my crew told me that he said that they needed to get a grip on life and love God.

“No one likes you Charles” my home boy said to the new comer. “Yeah the rest of my crew said. In my neighborhood there was only 6 of us kids. Myself, Jojo, Christian, Lil jack, Tik Tok , and Jigga .  We were the best things you have ever seen. So as I sat and watched the new kid get beat I finally stopped the madness. “Now go home fool.” said Tik Tok. Tik Tok got his name because he was so fast. He could run up the steepest hill ever ran In Ohio I believe in 2 minutes. “Never come back.” he added.

“Dang did he really deserve that?” I asked. “Yeah he did, He was a fool talking all that smack about even though we treat him like a dog he still loves us” Christian said. “But I do love you” Charles said. We all turned our heads to look at the stupid new kid that made the stupid comment. “Get him” I yelled. I figured if Jigga had beat him up he would fall in his first five steps. But I was wrong he took off in a full stried down the hill. “Split up”I yelled. Now it was me, Tik Tok , Jigga, and Jojo. All after the same person. We cut through the woods, we saw him almost home but Tik Tok turned on the speed. He caught up to Charles held him down and beat the mess out of him.

I swung, hit him in his jaw, kicked him in his stomach, and pulled out a paper clip that I unfolded and stabbed him. As scared as I was I ran told my crew he was good and took off running.  The only thing I was scared about was about was him having a cell phone. He could call the police and we would be taken to Juvi. That would be my third time in there.

They say dicipline and things like that make a person a good person. Well, in the juvinile detention system there is no such thing as nice people. There is just weapons for the teachers and a whole lot of bullies. In Juvi all you wonder about is who is coming to see me on a weekend and when am I getting out of the rat hole.

We ran home in a full speed dash. In the back round I could here Jigga screaming “Man down, Man down” he continued to scream. “Are you serious?” I asked myself. I told the rest of the crew to keep going and save themselves. I ran back to Lil Jack he told me he was trying to get himself a punch before he ran away. But he fell and Charles kicked him in the ankle and stomach.

Time was running out we needed to get out of here and quick. Rumor has it that Charles has a pocketknife for protection and I know that I did not want that three- inch blade stuck in my body. Thoughts were running through my mind should I leave him and catch up with the rest of them and have minus one member, or should I be a real gang leader and risk jail for my crew. I decided on choice number two I picked him up. Lil Jack was my weight so I didn’t think it would be a big deal. My legs shook they wobbled but I caught my balance and ended up running with him in my hand.

Charles came outside with his knife “Lord save you fool!!” he yelled. “I’m not scared anymore” he said. “You retards” he yelled.  “Come on Jack” I said. A little bit longer and we are home. Next thing I know Charles was running trying to catch up to us. But finally Lil Jack announced he was fine and he could fight if he needed to. I put him down. There was a three second difference from where I was standing and Charles running up to us. 1 second, thoughts were running through my mind trying to see where to aim on his face. 2 seconds, I looked at Jack to see if he was ready for this 2 on 1 battle. 3 seconds… BOOM. The third second never came. I had been hit on the head. I could hear Jack running after Charles. But that was the only thing I heard.

I woke up in my living room. I had no idea who had hit me.  I wasn’t going to let a little boy hit me in the back of the head. But was it even him. I thought about those 2 seconds before I blacked out. It could have never been Charles he was at least a second away. My thoughts were all on Lil Jack. He was right near me. But whoever it was I was going to get them.

I looked at the time. Five o’clock it said. I looked closer. Five o’clock a.m.. I was so angry I had been blacked out for at least seven hours. I got up, I knew I was going to be woken up for school. So I went on and took my morning shower. I put on my ripped skinny jeans, my flattop hat, my watch. Then I picked up my homework that I did the night before and walked out the door to the bus stop.

The bus is a place where kids sleep and hide from the bullies. I was the one who stood up for everyone on the bus. But when we hit school grounds and I would see my crew from school I had an all new attitude. Being a bully has it’s perks. Like getting extra lunch, be scared of. I gave myself a laugh and walked off the bus.

“What’s up James” I said. He gave me a who are you look and squinted. “Oh it’s you” he said. We walked over by the entrance of the school right by the gym. There I saw everyone that I usually saw at school. Well, that was in the crew. I turned around to say Hi. Then BOOM=http://!!!. I was hit in the face. “You got the stuff now fool=http://=http://!!!” James yelled.  I got up I wasn’t going down like this. I had been hit to many times and I would walk away. Now it was time to fight back.

I got up and swung, I hit him square in the nose. Blood was rushing out like a gusher with to much liquid. I hit him again this time thinking about running but the rest of the crew would hold me down. James hit me not really hurting just unexpected. This was it, it was time to prove myself and takeover. I tackled him and hit him at least 7 times in the face. Then I made the biggest mistake of my life I punched him in the throat.

I stopped. Then I looked around it was quiet. The whole crew was staring at me. Like I had a rat on the top of my head. I noticed the quietness I swear I could here the heart of Shiloh pounding his chest. I looked down, under me I could see the possibly dead body of James. I touched his throat checking his pulse. He was still breathing. I ran to the bathroom and got a wet napkin.

When I came back the whole crew except for James was gone. I rung the water out of the napkin on to his face. He let out a little cough. I stared at him. Then I walked away. I was proud of myself. But I knew no one was going to hurt me again. …

Part One of Meeting Jesus

Article posted October 7, 2011 at 02:06 PM GMT • comment (3) • Reads 989

Hi my name is Alex my friends call me Cricket for short (I think). But anyway I love school. You might think I’m a good student with good grades and good personality but I’m not. I’m what you describe as a bad boy. When teachers see me I can see the fear crying in there eyes. You might think I’m a horrible person but I’m not – “Cricket let’s go”! I heard my screw call me I ran towards them.

James asked “You got the stuff”. “Oh snap” I said. “I forgot it” I said. “Dang man, you always do this” James yelled. If you get us shot I’m going to raise from the dead and kill you myself!!!” he yelled. My gang and I aren’t close at all. We act more like rivals than a pack. We were like a dog pack. But I was the underdog, the weakest, the stupidest, and the ugliest. Compare me to James I’m worthless.

“Cricket!” I heard Shiloh call me. He had brown hair seemed to be black eyes and a super round head. On the charts of the group he was number 3. He told me I was stupid earlier. So I was sick of him. So right at that moment I slugged him right in his jaw. But it seemed to be not hard enough so I got one right back. Even harder than mine. “ Who do you think you are fool” he said. In fear I got up stared him up and down and left. But I was going to my side of town, so that meant I was running things.

The library of the Future

Article posted September 30, 2011 at 02:27 PM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 959

If I had to design the library of the future it would be awesome. First, you would walk into the library and if you already knew what book you wanted you would just yell out the title and the book would appear magically into your hand. But, if you came to the library to search for a book you would go to a shelf that had movie theatre 3D glasses and you would see all the titles of books. Then to read the summary of the book you would just call out the name of the book and the glasses would start reading the summary aloud to you.

What if the book you want isn’t at the library you would just go to the Ipad 100 and search the book. Then a person would magically come from the other library and give you the book of your choice. Then for every book you purchase you get an ipad 12.

Also my library of the Future would have the best coffee ever. The coffee would be imported from Bora Bora and the cream would come from Egypt. Coffee and books is possibly the best combination ever. The coffee in my library would have to become it’s on franchise business. That’s how good it would be.

My library would make reading the best thing ever to children, old people , and grownups, and old people. This isn’t just because it is also electronic just because reading is fun. Yes, reading is fun. My library would knock television right off of the market.  Reading is a scene when a person picks up a book and reads it. They will either enjoy or they will hate it. But you will never know if you hate the book or if you love the book, nope. Not until you read it.

My library of the future is just going to be awesome=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://!

Prejudice

                             What Is prejudice?

Prejudice is mainly just about your opinion of something. It is like the dislike of something that is false. I think prejudice people are not very nice. They spread things that aren’t true. Prejudice people make other people’s life harder. Prejudice to me is sign of weakness. I believe that prejudice people try to knock you down and make you feel bad. I think that being Prejudice is being low down and selfish. I believe that prejudice is a fact or opinion that is not true or has not been stated. You can be prejudice or you can act prejudice but the definition will always stay the same. Prejudice is not the right way to live your life.

What I think about when I see My story is… I think about my life story. I think about my accomplishments. I thnk about how I want my life to be in the future. When I see these words I think about how everyone has a story to tell. I think about my family, my friends, my family losses, and how I want my life to be devoted over to God. My life is basically what I think about when I hear the words My story is….
