The Hunger Games Summary

The book that I read this last 6 weeks is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The book starts off with the main character, Katniss Everdeen, waking up to find her younger sister, Primrose Everdeen, sleeping in the bed with their mother. Katniss and her family live in District 12. This day is special to them because it is Reaping Day. Reaping Day is the day where they choose two people, a boy and a girl, to compete in The Hunger Games. The two children who are chosen are called tributes. Prim is chosen and Katniss volunteers to go instead. Peeta Mellark is the boy that is chosen. Katniss remembers Peeta from a long time ago and hasn’t talked to him since. Prim begs Katniss to not go but Gale takes her off of Katniss. The tributes are given a few minutes to say their last goodbyes. Madge comes in and gives Katniss the mocking jay pin and asks if she will wear it during the games. Read more to find out what happens…

Girl In A Cage

I did my project on the Kildrummy Castle. Kildrummy Castle is set in Scotland, United Kingdom. Castles in these days and probably now if there are any left are for rich(er) people. Now, the Kildrummy Castle is in ruins. It was modeled on the latest French designs. Now, only the outside walls are standing and there are no complete rooms. In 1306, the castle was under siege for protecting Robert the Bruce, which was the king of England.

Casey At The Bat

color:#FF0080">       Last year on field day, I was running the 400-meter relay race. (This was the one where 4 people were on one team, with the baton.) My class was depending on me so that we would win. I was the last one to run. The 3rd runner was coming towards me to hand me the baton. I grabbed the baton and ran towards the finish line. There was already someone in front of me, but I passed her. I finally reached the finish line but there was already someone there. We came in 2nd, though. Everyone was mad and stuff. I had a lot of different emotions running through my head. I will NEVER forget that day.

Athletic Role Models

 Athletic Role Models:

I think we should expect SOME professional athletes to be role models. Some of them have bad habits that won’t be good for young kids to endure. Other athletes have good habits that young kids should endure. The problem is that most kids want to follow behind the bad athletes and do what they do even though they know it is wrong. I don’t think that we should judge them by their athletic performance unless we are coaches, which none of us are so none of us should be worried about their athletic performance. :)

Setting for Prjudice

Article posted January 11, 2012 at 07:55 PM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 254

Anywhere can be a setting for prejudice. It just depends on the people around you. Prejudice has to be learned, so obviously people who are racist learned it from somewhere. Prejudice can be in your neighborhood, your school, and your church.  Most of the time we don’t even recognize when prejudice is around us. We don’t pay attention to that kind of stuff as a kid. Prejudice is everywhere, that is if we know it or not.

My Goals

My Goals:

My academic goals for this year are to turn in all of my work on time. Another goal is to check netclassroom frequently for missing work. My steps to achieve these goals are to make sure I listen to when work is due and not wait until the last minute to work on it. I say that these goals should be met as soon as possible.

My spiritual goals for this year are to read the bible more and to strive to be more Christ like. The steps to achieve these goals are to make time to read the bible and to control my anger. Only use it when it is needed. This goal should be met by the end of this year.

My social goals for this year are to make more friends and not exclude people from my “circle” of friends. The steps to achieve this goal are to be nicer to the new students and if they are alone I should go and play with them or whatever they are doing. This goal should be met by the time school is out.

Book Talk 4

Article posted January 4, 2012 at 01:04 AM GMT • comment • Reads 432

I read The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. It was the last book in the Percy Jackson series. It was about how Percy, Grover, and AnnaBeth went and had a HUGE fight with Hades and his “crew”.  Percy fights to get his mom back and Grover and AnnaBeth help him. They run into some of the gods in a junkyard and get a ride with them. From there, they all start getting these signs of war. You have to see what happens to the friends and if they survive by reading the book! See you all at school tomorrow! Can’t wait!

Book Talk 3

The book I read was called The Lightning Thief. It is about a boy named Percy Jackson who is a demi-god but doesn’t know it. Percy has dyslexia which causes words and numbers to get mixed up. One day he goes on a class trip. Him and his best friend, Grover, sit next to each other. Once they get there Percy stops paying attention to what his teacher is saying and his teacher calls on him to answer a question. The words on the statue in from of them switched into the answer. They go outside for lunch, and this teacher he absolutely hates calls him into a room alone. Percy is suspicious but follows her direction.

Book Talk #2

I read a book called Twilight written by Stephanie Myer. It is about this girl named Bella, who is moving to Forks to live with her dad. Thing is she is moving there during the middle of the school year. On her first day at Forks High School, she meets this guy named Mike. Mike takes her to all of her classes and is very nice to her. At lunch that day Bella sees these pale, beautiful, graceful people. They all look alike in someway. Bella is automatically hooked and starts staring at them. Bella asks her new friend Jessica who they are. She tells them that they are the Cullens.  Bella asks about the one boy who doesn’t have a girl with him. Jessica tells her that that is Edward Cullen, she also told her to not waste her time because he wasn’t interested in any of the girls at their school. Bella hears the bell for lunch to be over and walks to her next class with Mike. (They had their next class together.) Mike goes to his seat sadly. Bella searches for a seat and notices that the only seat available is a seat next to him, Edward Cullen.

Read to find out what happens between them.  :P

I read a book called Katie Kazoo Switcheroo: Anyone But Me. It is about a 4th grade girl named Katie Kazoo. She wakes up and gets ready for school thinking it would be a normal day for her. Once she gets to school, she feels this wind around her. The only problem is that nothing is moving in the wind. The wind is only swirling around her. After the wind is gone she notices that she got smaller….way smaller. She doesn’t have her natural curly red hair. Instead she has fur. She walks to a mirror and notices that she is new the class pet, a gerbil. She walked to her class in gerbil state and she has the day of her life. OH SNAP!...read to find out what happens.
