Cool, Sporty, Musical

Wishes to invent something that can travel to other galaxies

Dreams of having a lot of electric guitars

Wants to have a full suspension

mountain bike

Who wonders if there is life

anywhere else

Who fears crashing on my mountain bike

Who is afraid of breaking a bone

Who likes dogs

Who believes anything is possible

Who loves my family

Who plans to win lotto

I hope my dreams come true

One Gnarley Camp

Article posted July 13, 2011 at 11:04 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 90

On the seventh of March the amazing Puarenga Learning Centre travelled to Camp        Rotoma to learn about survival skills, team work, animals and the great outdoors.

After our long trip along the windy roads we finally drove through the deep, murky mud puddle as we entered camp.

Group 1 and 2 were on their way down to kayaking at the freezing cold lake.  I was not     looking forward to hopping in the water on this icy morning.  After the dreaded cold walk down through the frozen campsite Matua Dave told us to get into pairs.  He said you should be with someone the same height.  Well, I ended up being with Jackson.  As we got around the first bay I was buggered, I couldn’t paddle a bit!  I turned around to see what Jackson was doing and I found him with his paddle on his lap twiddling his thumbs! I was so angry I pushed him off!!  On the way back John (‘JAWS’) tipped Mrs Bocock out of her kayak!  That was a highlight of the activity.

Wednesday morning was another chilly morning and again we headed straight down to the crystal clear lake for raft building.  We made the best ‘super raft’ and found undoing the knots on the raft was a very big challenge.

Orienteering was our last activity.  We all got given a compass to work with.  I think I might get a compass so I never get lost.

It was the night of the amazing camp concert.  We were sitting waiting for seconds for dinner and I felt something swish across my leg.  Someone had accidently cut me with their knife!  I was terrified!  I could see the inside of my leg!!  Chris took me over to the huge marquee.  When Nurse Tina said that I was going to need stitches that’s when I fainted.  When I woke up there was a bag of sweet jelly beans being shoved in my face. Maurice put me in Mum’s car and sent me off to the A and E. I had to get seven stitches! That was pretty much my camp.

I hope Thornton is as good next year!
