Lake Rotoma Camp Recount

I woke up on the 7th of April to the sound of mum yelling “wake up, wake up”! I rushed down the hallway scoffed my breakfast. We pilled my stuff into the Ute and headed towards school. Finally Puarenga arrived at Lake Rotoma Camp. It looked like a big ugly paddock until we had set up all of our tents. We were there to study the native bush life and animals and also to have fun.
The next day we started our activities. My first activity was kayaking. We went down to the lake and grabbed our kayaks. We kayaks kept on smashing and crashing as we climbed across them. After kayaking had finished everyone had sore muscles and soaking wet bums.
After kayaking we had raft building. We had to build our raft out of bamboo, tubes and bits of rope. It took 20-30 tiring minutes to build. After we had finished we raced the raft against the other team and the parents. We came last but I didn’t care. After we had pulled our raft apart we made a mega raft that held both groups nine and ten standing up.
The next hot day we had team building with Miss Hull. We had to make an obstacle course out of rope, heavy stilts, a chair and a crate. The aim of the game was to get to one side and back in the quickest amount of time.
That night we had the terrifying Burma trail. Before we went in the teachers told us a story about a loopy guy. I was scared when I heard the noisy chainsaw rev up. I didn’t want to go in but we got forced to go in. By now everyone was crying. After ten devastating minutes we were finally out I felt relived.
Camp Rotoma was great and I cant wait until Thornton Beach Camp in 2012
