My Camp Recount

The day had finally arrived (the 7th of march). I said to my mum “I can’t wait to go to Lake Rotoma. When we got to the bare empty paddock we had to put up our tents (what a mission). After we had put up our tent we went for a swim In the freeing cold lake.
On the second day my group the amazing group four had science with Miss Curtis. I found out a lot about the bush and animals. It was so violent in the bush you hear the cicadas singing in the bushes and trees. Our second amazing activity was raft building with Matua Del. We learnt how to build a raft if you were stuck on a island some where.
On our third day of camp the amazing group four had cooking we made morning tea and lunch for the other groups. After we had our yummy lunch we did team building and bivouacs we learnt how to make so when you were stuck in the bush( which you shouldn't be if you have a compass )and you need something to sleep under and if it’s raining you use sticks and leaves to make your own little house for the night. Next we had made our bivouacs then we did team building which was kind of hard .
That night we did the burma trail wen we threw the bush it was all dark and scary! Kate West was screaming nonstop. When we came out of the dark scary bush half of our group was still in the bush.
On the next breath taking day we did we had orienteering we had to use a compass and walk around to find the degree of the number that you got given.
Next we had kayaking with Mrs B”I can’t wait “ I said excitedly. Dave the instructor let us pick our partners. Honey and I paired up. That’s when the embarrassment happened . We couldn’t move the kayak in the direction we wonted it to move to. Then we nearly fell out.
That freezing cold night was camp concert . I was so nervous. When it was group four’s turn I said this is it I said to Emmarina. At the end it was time to see who had won. Frist place was the amazing group four. We had won! I couldn’t believe it.
It had come to the end of the awesome week. I was as happy and sad as a little girl who had lost her kitten about leaving. I had an awesome time and can’t wait until next year at Thornton Beach.
