Utuhina Stream Restoration Project

Article posted June 14, 2013 at 04:34 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 240

Today we had a fantastic day, planting trees beside the Utuhina stream. Some senior students from JPC came to share their video with us. We learnt a lot about the Utuhina stream environment and how we need to look after it. It was a beautiful day. Look out for the students blogs about it...their posts will be up soon!

Lunches

Article posted May 13, 2013 at 04:27 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 540

What a mission....we made some lunches for the school. The 198 american hotdogs took up a lot of room, it was like a hotdog traffic jam! It took way longer than we expected because we couldn't get the setting right on the warmer. Then there was the sushi...or should I say rice? Rice, rice, everywhere...the nearly 100 rolls of sushi looked fantastic but the hall looked like a fantastic mess by the time it was made. I'm pretty sure the clean-up took longer than the making part.
It was the first time it had all been done by kids so we have learnt a lot!

Art Auction

Article posted September 25, 2012 at 08:45 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1764

Thank you to all of the parents and family who supported our art auction.

The students worked hard to provide quality works for the auction. They used a huge variety of techniques and persevered through many issues, Every student had something special to offer and the auction saw some competitive bids. Overall, it was great fun.

Next term is showtime and the students are starting to do some serious practise to be ready. Tickets are available at the office so be in quick.

Stay safe over the holidays and encourage your children to blog and comment on others blogs too.

Have you checked out some of the wonderful work some students have shared lately? Take a look!

Project Planning

Article posted February 20, 2012 at 05:25 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 646

Hello students...Remember to use the new project planning format -

Rationale: The reason you chose to study what you have chosen - why?

MI: My Intention - what you intend to actually learn.

MO: My outcome - what you will do to demonstrate/show your learning.

Indicate your starting level of knowledge - use SOLO, KWL or another tool to show this and your progress.

Use the inquiry learning step by step guide - Plan, Research, Select, Apply and Create/Evaluate, Present.

I am really looking forward to seeing what you learn. Remember, read each night, plan your work, keep track and up-to-date.

2012

Article posted February 15, 2012 at 04:29 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 301

Welcome to 2012.

We will work on blogging and commenting to support each other. The first blog assignments are...

Use an easispeak to post your mihi - first names only.

Create a goanimate (must be draft written first) video on what SOLO is about.

Publish your favourite piece of writing from the first two weeks.

Students have begun reading level books in class and are bringing home novels to read, some personal choice books from the library and some set by me to read and then discuss at literacy circles. Please support them in this. I would also encourage you to keep practising times tables with your children each night.
