Balloon Experiment Results

Article posted May 11, 2011 at 09:58 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1255

Description: We are going to attach a green balloon, a blue ballon, a orange balloon and a Cheetos bag on our payloads. The orange one is full, the blue one is half full, and the green party balloon filled about ¼ of air. We are also attaching a Cheetos bag snack size one the top of our payloads. Next, we will send the payload up over 100,000 feet on a high altitude balloon.

Hypothesis:

Green Balloon - I think the balloon will n fly off to space because it has so little air when it gets up high the air will get on it and it will fly off.

Results – The green balloon got bigger and when it was all the way to the top it was at the max full of air and when the big balloon popped it slowly went down to its original size.

Blue Balloon – I think the balloon will get bigger than the orange one then shrink down because it will gain air than loose air

Results – The balloon popped. When we received the balloon there was a little bit of the balloon left.

Orange Balloon – The balloon will almost burst and get really big and pop because it will get more air

Results – The orange balloon popped and when it popped it was stretched
out.

Bag Of Chips – Nothing will happen

Results – It got a tiny hole but it didn't burst

    My High Hopes

I live in Sparks and my High Hope for my school is that people will treat others how they want to be treated. My High Hope for my community is that people will recycle and not litter because I want the Earth to look clean. My High Hope for the world is that people will take care of the planet and people will help Japan and Haiti to recover from earthquakes and tsunamis.

Earthquakes, Tsunamis, and Volcanoes

Article posted March 24, 2011 at 02:20 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 265

Earthquakes, Tsunamis, and Volcanoes all have something in common. They all can cause disasters.

(Earthquakes)The highest layer of earth is made out of rocks. Sometimes the plates might get caught on one another and cannot move then the energy and the pressure builds up and the earthquake starts. Some earthquakes are small and not dangerous. Some can be very strong and dangerous. If it is very strong, buildings can come crashing down and make a disaster. We measure the strength of the earthquake on an instrument called seismograph.

Volcanoes form when magma from inside the earth comes out through a crack in the earth’s surface. When mountains explode they send a lot of rocks rolling down. These falling rocks are called landslides. Some big volcanoes have snow have ice and snow on top. Hot gasses melt all the snow and ice at the same time. Water slides down the mountain and then large dirt-filled floods forms called a mudslide.

Tsunamis are large waves caused by underwater earthquakes or volcanoes. Some tsunamis can be as high as a football field. Tsunamis are the largest waves in the world. Tsunamis can go in all direction. Tsunamis can cross an entire ocean. Tsunamis cannot be very high when it is in the ocean but when it gets to land it gets high. Some tsunamis are between 1 and 10 stories high. That might not be high, but imagine the power it has.

The Time Someone Helped Me

It was a sunny day when I was playing soccer in our backyard then all of a sudden I have slipped in a hole. My foot was stuck and I couldn't get it out. I pulled and pulled but it didn't get out. Then my mom came out and saw that my foot was stuck . She tried to help me but it didn't get unstuck. She told me that she’ll be right back. She left for about 10 minutes then came back. She got this oil and put it on my foot. It came out. I was so relived that my foot go out. I thought I was going to be stuck forever. Well that was the time someone helped me with something that was hard to do.

My Train Trip

My Train Story

I hear a strange noise from my room. It wakes me up. I put on a coat and walk outside. There it is.... a mysterious train. For some reason I want to get on it. I walked on the train and sat down. This really was a weird train. At first the train was slow and calm but then it went full speed. A few minutes later the train started to go slow again. All of a sudden weird things started to pop out of nowhere. The weird things started to sing and dance. They started throw trays around and pour drinks. They left and a big t.v popped out and my favorite show was on. It started to get hot and I didn't know why. Then I knew why, a big volcano was in our way. I felt as if the train was flying. I looked out of the window and the train was. I couldn't believe that this was real. Then everything went bright. I could not see anything. When it when back to normal, the train suddenly stopped moving. I looked outside and the place I was looked familiar but I could not remember where it was. I was in an island.

Haunted Hotel

Article posted March 3, 2011 at 09:33 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 309

Have you ever been in a haunted hotel? I have when my mom and dad took us to visit a hotel called Goldfield hotel. Me and my brother read stories about the ghost town and the haunted hotel. People say that paranormal stuff happens in the hotel. Other people say they have seen ghost and in a hotel room that on the wall there is a picture of a mom, dad, and baby. You could see there faces painted on the left wall. We got up early and drove to Goldfield. When we arrived at goldfield it was a complete ghost town every thing was broken and old. I was a little afraid to go in the hotel because it looked like it was about to fall down. We went and it felt weird. I herd a bell ring but it was nothing. When we went inside a hotel room my brother heard the tv on. After a few hours my dad decided to go home. That was a visit to a haunted hotel.

The End

Wild Island

Article posted March 3, 2011 at 05:14 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 360

Have you ever been to Wild Island? Well I have and it was fun. When we arrived the first ride I wanted to ride La Tortuga. Me and my brother got on it. I felt like if I was going to fall of the edge of the slide. When we got to the bottom we flipped over. My brother thought I was deep, but it was only 3 feet deep. My brother was laughing so hard is face looked like a tomato. Then there was a ride called The Fire And Ice. I went on it and I thought it was not that fast but not slow. So it was kinda in the middle. We took a rest and drank some water. I was kind board and then my brother pulled me and went to a place were there were waves and he pushed me in and I almost started to drown. When I got closer to him I grabbed his hand and pulled him in. We had to leave and that was my visit to Wild Island.
